Like he wrote , it breaks the IC (integrity check) for multiplayer, so he can only use it for singleplayer

Not sure I follow. I thought DLAA improved image quality at a slight performance hit and did not improve fps?

@myHelljumper any update on progress on this issue? Can you push it internally? It’s a critical system for the Mig-19 modules in my opinion Your message was more than two years ago. thank you, kind regards. Snappy

I don’t think this is true. AFAIK Mig-29 was overhauled (new 3D model) quite a while ago, it was shortly before the announcement of MAC. But that doesn’t mean they will do it again with FC3 aircraft.

reported AI aircraft have unlimited flares
Snappy replied to Snappy's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
Hi Flappie, thank you very much for getting back to me on this. I’m away from home at the moment, so I can’t check in DCS whether this is the reason or not in the options for the example mission. But it is possible. Still I find it unlogical and counter-intuitive to label and include chaff&flares as „weapons“ , since they are really not. I recommend either renaming this option into „weapons&countermeasures“ or creating a new separate option for “expendable countermeasures & decoys“ . But thank you for your reply&explanation. I appreciate it very much Kind regards, Snappy -
reported AI aircraft have unlimited flares
Snappy replied to Snappy's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
Ok , kindly let me know how many flares releases exactly the AI needs to perform in a track for you to accept this as an issue? Serious question, so I can upload a new track. I wasn’t making this up and the tracks do show already a very high number of releases. -
Yes , at the top the glass the target dot still disappears even before reaching the edge. I captured a shot where you can see the dot begin to disappear, (only its lower half is still visible in my pic ) while still not at the actual edge of the glass : null

Some more interesting stories&information from Andy Bush, including it’s capabilities in flat scissors vs . the Topgun F-5s https://combatsim.com/review.php?id=5 Plus this amusing story where he and his wingman outsmarted a duo of F-15 and gunned them. There he also mentions the ability to sustain 7G at around 400kts with the flaps . https://theaviationgeekclub.com/starfighter-4-eagle-0-that-time-two-f-104s-scored-four-simulated-kills-against-an-f-15b-in-a-single-training-mission/amp/

Hi My suggestion: "Large roll inputs during g-load at low airspeed (Vi < 350km/h) may result in high roll rates as the g-load reduces. However, this is not to be confused with an inverted spin. If the roll inputs are neutralized, the roll ceases and the g-load returns to normal values ". Snappy. edit: While I was typing my reply Widen76's reply came in and had the original phrase translation. I agree with his suggestion to use slightly less technical expressions in the version for the manual.

? Mig-21, Mig-19 are FF true REDFOR.

Check your definition of arcade. The FC3 aircraft almost all have PFM by now,so their flight models are on the highest level of accuracy, not sure what you consider arcade about them. Yes systems are simplified, no clickable cockpit. Doesn't make them arcade. Survey-sim maybe, yes. Asteroids is arcade. So is Pac-man.

Hey , Thanks a lot for your detailed reply of the three elastic setting variants, you made a great explanation, I understand it better now! Much appreciated! Take care, Snappy

reported AI aircraft have unlimited flares
Snappy posted a topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
Hi, see attached track files.AI aircraft (examples here F16 Blk50 and F18Lot20) have unlimited flares. In the track they dropped over a 100 pairs of flares each and showed no sign of stopping when I stopped recording. Also worse, aircraft like the VIggen, which actually need to carry a dedicated countermeasure pod to drop flares, are able to drop flares when completely clean without pod as AI version. (see attached track), Mission file also attached in case it is needed to play back the tracks. FlaresViggen.trk M2000cAir2Air.miz 130plusFlaresF18.trk 130plusFlaresF16.trk -
And how exactly would that help them in not getting in trouble with Russia for reproducing their military hardware in great detail and system fidelity? Just because that specific aircraft is on American soil? I donˋt think the problem is actual access to aircraft data or systems, the problem is having access and being able to use the data while still clearing Russian laws. For a company which probably still has significant assets and workforce in Russia this might be a different matter than for a purely US or EU or independent country based-company ..

@myHelljumper could you kindly provide some insight or short explanation, what the options mean ?They aren’t covered by the manual . thanks
-
Not sure how you arrive at that conclusion. To me it sounds as if he was talking about what’s next in EDˋs pipeline , not the overall pipeline of releases including 3rd party modules. And BNs post above from June said development will take longer. Anyway we will see.

Hi, could somebody kindly explain to me what the three different options for the elastic limit axis mean exactly in practical terms? I tried them, but hard to say where the difference lies. English is not my native language & I have trouble understanding the difference, the Module manual unfortunately doesn't cover these special options. Recently I noticed that even without pressing the AP disconnect, pulling full aft stick would allow me to pull 10+G, so I'm guessing this is already beyond the normal limit. Which option do I need to select I just want the normal FBW limits as my physical joystick limits? Regards Snappy

Well if you have a tacview of it, it would sure be interesting to see.Otherwise it’s just a claim, and in any case a lot hinges on Pilot skill anyway too.

You cannot do that. The Mirage is a french aircraft. NATOPS (Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization) and are available for aircraft used by the U.S. Navy. As far as I'm aware , there is no official Mirage 2000 flight manual with performance data available in the public domain. There are some performance charts with turn rates floating around, yes. But they are not official/from Dassault and as far as I know they were produced by a competiting aircraft manufacturer that was trying to promote its own aircraft, so you better take the data with a grain of salt.

Slightly OT , but: While I can easily imagine the JAG story line overdoing a bit, I'm pretty sure that episode was based on this impressive true feat,"Pardo's Push": https://www.historynet.com/pardos-push-an-incredible-feat-of-airmanship/?f https://www.smithsonianmag.com/air-space-magazine/pardos-push-180962402/ Where , during the Vietnam war , one battle-damaged F-4 indeed pushed another even more battle damaged ,engines-out F-4 , by its lowered arrestor hook (for emergency cable engagements, as they were both Air Force planes) against its windshield for over 80 nautical miles , out of hostile terrain into a safer area, where both crews had to eject then. The crew was later awarded the silver star for it and rightly so. Regards, Snappy

I haven’t touched the phoenixes in quite a while. Did the pre-patch version of it have less susceptibility to notching targets? Or are you disappointed that it has stayed as bad as before? Also , does the actual problem lie with the phoenix’ inability to pick up targets again after they exit the notch or is it the all-knowing AI that executes perfect unrealistic notching for the exact necessary duration to defeat the missile completely ? I mean, is it the missile or the AI behaviour ? I have no illusion that ED will make the AI behave more realistic or less perfect in the short term, if at all. They seem unable or unwilling to tackle this giant weakness in DCS in general.

Hi, If you have selected any A/G ammunition (including Air-Ground guns) and set a manual depression for gunsight, pressing the (C + M or SW) R button, does not bring up the Air-to-Air gunsight reticle mode , it stays in the previously selected Air to Ground mode and depressed. The IR missiles are correctly selected though. This is contrary to the manual: "A dogfight mode, called rapid cannon + MATRA R550 or SW, is available through the (C + M or SW) R button on the throttle. When the button is pressed, the sight changes to cannon air-toair mode with radar guidance, the outer missiles are selected and a green light on the side of the sight mount turns on. Further short presses of the button release the current radar lock and command a radar search in front of the current target. A long press of the button commands the restart of the search pattern from the initial position. The (C + M or SW) R mode can be exited by actuation of an unstable switch on the left wall of the aircraft." and also seems to contradict the real F1K50ED manual, which also states that this mode takes priority over any other mode previously selected. Short track attached, showing first selecting fuselage bombs and a manual depression and then pressing the (C + M or SW) R button Regards, Snappy CMWSWR.trk

The Cyrano, the armament and it's relation to the F1M
Snappy replied to EricToGo's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
If each Aerges variant is using the IVM version of the radar, is the air to ground telemetry function still coming? And what exactly does it entail? -
Hey Tango! thanks a lot for your detailed reply! Yes , that at least sounds like the 1C mode would in theory provide a slightly higher quality radar picture and less background noise at the cost of some range. I agree, it would be very interesting to hear from real F1 pilots about its usability. regards, Snappy

Hi, what exactly is the advantage / purpose of the short pulse IC radar mode ? The module manual says: "The characteristics are the same as in “HA” but the pulse width is reduced, and the radar performance is slightly reduced in range" Which makes it sound like it has only disadvantages compared to HA mode and the manual doesn't offer much additional info on it. In the radar mode properties summary table on p.116 of the manual under observations it just says "same" for IC below the HA mode properties. But there must be a purpose for it , at least in the real aircraft? Is it a higher refresh rate of target data? Regards, Snappy
