  1. Ok thank you, but then how does GYRO receive range and rate as mentioned by AERGES in the changelog?
  2. Sorry to bring this up again, but just to confirm, the "ANT" position is the one providing more accurate gunnery solutions because it gets radar information? I initially thought so, but I'm confused because of the the following lines in the change log: DCS Mirage F1 by Aerges Optical Sight: “ANTENNE” (“ANT” aka “blind shooting”) gunsight mode is implemented. Increased the gunsight accuracy in “GYRO” mode with target range and range rate available. "Blind shooting" makes ANT sound more inaccurate, like its missing radar information. On the other hand "Increased the gunsight accuracy in “GYRO” mode with target range and range rate available" sounds like GYRO position is fed range and rate info frome the radar. Just would like to know how its implemented in the AERGES F1 right now? I made some tests with both , and neither seems to be very accurate unless you are super close to target already already.
  3. Hey Jaguara!, Thank you very much for your quick reply! Now that is most interesting! So it calculates an optimal intercept patch for you. I also replied via PM. Thanks a lot, Snappy
  4. Hi, been away from the F1 a while and just got back into it lately. I understand the radar-assisted gunsight has been somewhat implemented by now , however I do not know what this icon (I marked it in blue on thepicture) on the HUD represents, it seems new and I couldn't find it in the manual. It looks similar to the gun pipper , but with only two lines extending left and right. Kind regards, Snappy
  5. Thank you both! Interesting that the R550 training round does not feature the forward canards of the live missiles.Would have thought they’d strive for accurate aerodynamic properties as well. But maybe the effect is minimal.
  6. Slightly OT, but was is that is that thing under the left wing?! Also on the wingtip, which missile is that? A magic variant or training round of it? kind regards, Snappy
  7. Hi Cobra, it’s a nice move (serious here, no irony!) of you to chime in here and explain. And while you and your team do have my sympathies for all the difficult additional issues you are facing this year, I can still only echo @Spirale‘s point: It is your decision what you prioritise and time and time again the Viggen gets the short straw. I very much get that you run a business and that other considerations influence your decisions. But still I can only repeat it and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way, as a Viggen customer, this is a really disappointing trend and it’s been that way quite a while. It’s not like this happened only once or twice with the lopsided updates /development (from what is available to us customers, not your internal builds). It was many many update cycles. That plus the (by now ) very stale assurances from you and/or IronMike that this will change and that the Viggen will receive more development soonish leave a bad taste for a customer. Because, I’m really sorry to say, by this point I don’t believe them anymore and you have lost my trust in that regard. I do believe you have the intention and want to improve the Viggen, but in my personal opinion you would need a serious ,conscious and lasting change in priority and task assignment if you really want to stop disappointing Viggen customers and get this done . Of course you could also keep up with the current coffee drip drip strategy and the Viggen will only be done in a decade or two. But in this case I would advise against putting out further Viggen development assurances/update announcements, because it’s just making things much much worse from a trustworthiness perspective , even if I’m sure they’re not meant that way. But it’s your train set in the end. All that being said, I do you hope you personally and the Heatblur team is safe and ok because I know you and them were facing various different difficulties ! My best wishes for you all . regards, Snappy
  8. Yes I agree, while I appreciate the huge amount of work going into improving the Tomcat, these lopsided updates have become an annoying trend. I lost count of the many HB announcements along the lines of „next update will see chunky Viggen changelog, all hands are on deck to push the Viggen across the finish line and deliver announced features, etc etc.“, only to get a another update with a big Tomcat changelog and nothing or next to nothing in the Viggen department. Latest example, Cobra‘s post from 21st sept: “…so we focused on shipping a larger update for the F-14 and Viggen in the October patch.“ I will wait until the actual update changelog but I remain quite pessimistic, that this „larger“ Viggen update will not make it into this last October 2.8 patch.. Though it may not reflect the actual internal situation at Heatblur, from a Viggen customer perspective it often feels like the Viggen is the black sheep, that always has to take the backseat at family events. Regards, Snappy Also pretty sure sooner or later either Cobra or IronMike are going to chime in and assure us, that the Viggen is not on the backburner and that HB is very much committed to it and that it will receive significant work in the future, but at some point this just rings hollow in the face of patch after patch showing something else.
  9. Oh please stop it. Seriously, even if Ugra is a 3rd party, you can t really be that naive to believe ED does not have a serious say in 3rd party development. Its obvious they do and they have to give their nod for approval for 3rd party module inclusion, be it aircraft or map. All in all this leaves a bad taste so far in my opinion, especially since it’s looks like valuable content creators like @Reflectedget shafted, by raising the barrier to enjoying their campaigns with additional preconditional purchases required. Really ED should be appreciative that these 3rd party campaign creators are there and help attract people with their campaigns to EDs half-baked WWII scene, but instead of supporting them, they seem to make it more difficult for them, with these strange map development decisions..
  10. Maybe you should also revisit your expectation, that everything designed in the 60/70s has to have a heavy feel to it, because it’s not true. Not sure what exactly you mean by haptic feedback either. Do you use a force feedback joystick? Otherwise this will be hard to simulate in any case. Other than that , the flight model is probably still very much WIP, like others have mentioned.
  11. Thank you for sharing the results of your testing! Is „gun rate“ a spelling error or what do combat flaps have to do with the guns’ rate of fire? Regards, Snappy
  12. Hi Flappie, that worked well ! I then manually set up the graphics options again as I had them before and it seems to work now. So this can be marked as solved. Thank you very much for your quick replies and help with this issue, Flappie ! Very kind of you! Regards, Snappy
  13. Ok, did that, again did full repair, got the message that the DCS files were repaired succesfully, however the problem persists. According to windows task manager DCS is still running,, but it just won't progress to main menu screen.. Any other ideas? It's kind of frustrating considering the previous open beta worked fine for me. Thanks again for your help Flappie. Attached is the newly generated log dcs.log Edit : @Flappie Ok I seem to be getting somewhere now. I went into /username/saved games/ and renamed the DCSopenbeta folder into DCSopenbetabackup ( I read about it, while researching similar recent threads here). Then after logging in DCS generated a new DCSopenbeta folder in /username/saved games/ and it finally does load into main menu. However it seems to take a lot longer than the previous version for that. I initially thought it had got stuck again. But the difference is , in task manager DCS is shown as still running, while previously it showed it as "not responding". I still dont understand what exactly causes this. I tried swapping back by deleting the new "DCSopenbeta" folder and then renaming my backup back into "DCSopenbeta" again . This reproduces the issue. In task manager DCS is then shown as "not responding". So to summarize. As soon as I use my original DCSopenbeta folder in "/username/saved games" I run into the issue that DCS stops responding and doesnt reach main menu. By renaming the original folder and letting DCS build a newone /username/saved games" it does load for a (relatively long time) but then reaches main menu screen and works apparantly. Not sure what to make of that. Can I re-import at least my keybinds and settings somehow from the original folder? Kind regards, Snappy
  14. That is very strange, I just tried windows update again . Even after refreshing it still says my windows is up to date.. hm? Not sure how I can find said update otherwise. Should I delete the compose.fx file anyway or wait? Thank you for your quick reply Flappie!
  15. Hi, after updating to the newest open beta version 2.7.17.29140 DCS doesn't start anymore after entering the login data. It doesnt even reach main menu, just gets stuck in loading . Didn't have any issues with the previous open beta version. Win10 is up to date. Only installed mod is the UH-60L blackhawk as far as I m aware. Log is attached. There seems to be an error with the DX11 Backend, not being able to find a pre-compiled shader. After updating DCS via the DCS updater from Skatezilla I also deleted the pre- compiled shaders using the advanced update options of aforementioned tool. I also ran a full repair , hoping to fix the problem.Got the message that DCS got repaired successfully, but it still hangs before reaching main menu screen. Any ideas how to solve this issue? if you need further infos please let me know. Thank you very much in advance, kind regards. dcs.log DxDiag.txt
  16. Ah sorry, I think I misunderstood you Stuart. Didn’t get that you were talking only and specifically about the -J variant in British use. Thought that with “British Phantoms “ you meant all the phantom variants in British service. I should’ve read your statement more in the context of the previous posts. You may well be right then in regards to the -Js and their employment! Regards, Snappy
  17. Say what now? There’s probably still room for improvement, but contrary to a certain developers Gazelle , the Huey‘s FM was generally reviewed very favourably in regards to realism as far as I’m aware. But I agree with you on that the Kiowa should be viewed as a clean slate and it’s FM not be trashed before it’s even been released. Pretty sure Polychop took the criticism to heart.
  18. Don’t think this is entirely true.AFAIK, the British phantoms were also posted to RAF Germany for low level air defense where they in fact often did engage in mock turning fights and dogfights with other RAF or NATO fighters. Think several RAF phantom pilots mentioned this on various podcasts. Air crew interview for example.
  19. You will have a radar guided moving gunsight with lead factored in and range info on the reticle, even with this old HUD on the -E. If you have the F-5 Tiger II, it’s gun sight is very similar to the one used by the -E. Unfortunately the one on the F-5e is a bit bugged in regards to lead calculation.
  20. Awesome Don Rudi!! Thanks so much for making that mission! Must have been a ton of work with all that documentation ! Looking forward to giving it a try. Thanks again!
  21. If you remember the name of the podcast again or find it again by chance.could you link it here?sounds interesting! Kind regards , Snappy
  22. In addition to what IvanK wrote: The button not seeming to change the range for the gun reticle irritated me as well at first, but to switch between 300m and 600m gun range you simply need to press and and hold it for a bit longer, maybe a second or so. If you just click (assuming HOTAS or Joystick now) and immediately release it, it doesn’t work.Just keep it pressed a bit longer and you can see the gun reticle jump , up or down, showing the range has changed. Unless they fixed it with the last patch, unfortunately the scale above the gunsight, indicating gun range(only in weapons mode, normally its the compass display) , doesn’t change and stays stuck at 300m.Think that’s a bug. Hope this helps a bit. Kind regards, Snappy
  23. Hi ED, are there still scheduled performance improvements coming for the marianas map? Compared to the other maps, it still runs very badly in regards to FPS ,even when lowering shadows or switching them off. However it seems, there havent been a lot of significant updates to the map after release and it has been been quiet about this map for quite a while now. The scenery is very beautiful, but the performance really reduces the immersion, unless you have an extremely powerful machine, but even high end users seem to report significantly less frames. Do you still have any performance improvement updates planned for this map? Anyway, thanks a lot for making the map available for free. Regards, Snappy
  24. +1 good idea!
