Items popping in and out of view depending on cockpit zoom level
b0bl00i replied to b0bl00i's topic in 2D Video Bugs
@Flappie I already run at extreme! Is there a config file I can edit to increase draw distance further? -
Finally someone else noticed.. I have this issue too. My only fix was using shader mods. I still have this issue in 2.7

Items popping in and out of view depending on cockpit zoom level
b0bl00i replied to b0bl00i's topic in 2D Video Bugs
@Flappie Is this something you've seen? -
Hello, There seems to be a problem with LOD or some view distance parameter, when I adjust my field of view in the cockpit using the zoom lever, items pop in and out of view, this is true for lights, objects, ground units, contrails etc. It also seems that depending on if I am looking at something straight ahead or using my peripheral when looking to the sides.. objects are popping in and out. I'm using stock settings, no mods, latest version of 2.7 open beta. 3440x1440 - aspect 2.33333333 (stock)

Yeah I've seen this one too.. like large blotches of black appearing here and there...almost like spotting UAPs

fixed Night vision goggles do not function during dark night.
b0bl00i replied to Nickentik's topic in 2D Video Bugs
I think it's really weird that this was not prioritized directly after it was discovered. I'm flying into the ground quite a lot because the NVGs doesn't provide enough ground lighting. Can't run my night missions effectively without it and as a consequence, I stopped flying them. @NineLine Any words on this and why it's not being prioritized? -
That's good news!!
-
Yeah I agree with you! I hope ED makes a real homerun with the Viper. It's my favorite plane even though it's not finished and I have quite a few in DCS already. I just want the pace to improve.. it's hard to wait.
-
Why is that such a sensitive topic really? I never really understood that. It's rather obvious from a consumer perspective that we for natural reasons do compare and very much want DCS to be equally good or surpass it. In my book DCS has a lot going for it with the roadmap for this year and the renewed focus on DCS core we have started to see the last years, but give us a break. I understand you have no experience or interest in non ed products but competition and learning from others is what makes us exceed and become better. It's like any other piece of software, car, gadget.. products gets compared between each other, some are proclaimed winners, some are proclaimed losers and when something is lacking, we start asking questions and create our wishlists and keep pestering you to make it even more awesome. On top of that, since we are here, spending time, writing in these forums we are obviously very keen on having DCS as good as possible and want nothing more than to zip around in a perfect F-16 with all bells and whistles. I'd call that passion. Without it, these forums would be rather empty.

Yeah but it's a little bit too much of a brick at even moderately slow speeds.. and it's bleeding speed like a brick too. I don't know, perhaps I'm just used to that other sim but in DCS..it's impossible to win a bfm against the hornet, guns only if equally skilled pilots fly the viper and the hornet. The way the viper builds Gs is to slow in my opinion, and top of that, the G-modelling sucks,.. blackout at 9gs way to quickly. I read the requirements is 30 seconds of 9Gs in the centrifuge.. our viper pilot dude blacks out at 8 for a few seconds.
-
I'd wait for the flight model changes. It's like a flying brick if you get slow. Also, it does not easily pull 9G and the g-modeling in DCS makes no sense when flying a Viper.
-
ED, please be more transparent what you are doing and planning for the Viper. Give us a roadmap for 2021.

Great comment..or not. You are missing the point. It's to aid the virtual pilot (meaning you and me) knowing when the AB engages or not. In the real aircraft, this is done easily since there's an AB detent. Something we are lacking if we are not using an extra button and the ab detent setting. Top notch support!! Many thanks. Hope to see it included in an upcoming build. Have a nice weekend. Yep I'm using hear like in helmet. It's seems to have been an "improvement" with stereo separation of that particular sound. Prior to 2.7, I could just fly the plane looking out the window or the hud and loudly hear the detent click, but now in 2.7, I need to look directly at it to hear the detent click clearly. Thanks for replying!
-
Using headphones, stereo setup. When looking down at the throttle the sound of passing the detent is OK but when looking straight forward through the hud it's barely audible. This was not the case with the older 2.5 build. This is with the setting enable at 300% It's very usefull to hear this sound as it removes the need of looking at the throttle position. Please take a look at. Cheers.

I'd say buy what you think looks most fun and cool! Once you have your aircraft, start learning it, find out about its weaknesses and strengths and learn how to use that most effectively.

in progress So, no flight model update for the F-16 in the 2.7 patch?
b0bl00i replied to SCPanda's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Hi BIGNEWY, thanks for keeping us updated. We are eager to get the Viper updated and flying like it should. Can you please reveal some details about the Vipers performance tuning related to BFM? It doesn't really live up to the performance I've come to understood from stories, books, videos and interviews and other sims I played during the years. Also, can you include some details on the Viper roadmap this year? We've waited a long time for this baby to get some goodies. Thanks. -
When spawning in air against the ai, or an adversary there's really no time to perform a g warmup of you want to survive, the ai does not seem to be affected at all. In either way, it's way too harshly simulated, making high g capable planes like the f16 and f15 for example handicapped. Like alfas said above, it's not very fun or realistic to demand this of a sim pilot under the circumstances we play. Perhaps the goal should be to simulate a veteran pilot and not someone who haven't flown for months. But as usual when suggesting a change to DCS, it's negated and defended and ignored. The Viper and g tolerance in BMS feels a lot more manageable. I suggest you bring up for discussion. If I can't rate fight a Hornet because I'm blacking out constantly when pushing above 7g, it's not correctly modeled.
-
Tried out some Just Dogfight servers online (with G-model set to realistic) in the Viper. Well, it not realistic at all. I start blacking out when pushing above 7G. Can only sustain 9G for like a second, then I can't see anything. I doubt this is realistic and it makes the Viper useless in BFM. I've seen several videos of people sustaining 9 G for a lot longer than what DCS offers. Also, my father in law, being an ex fighter pilot in the Swedish Airforce also confirms this is not realistic at all. ED, please investigate and make the necessarry adjustments.
-
Will there be additional improvements to the AI? It's really boring(and easy) dog fighting against it, always ends up in a loop or scissor. BMS AI manages to amaze me, jinks and behaves very realistic, you can always predict where he will be based on the current energy state, in DCS, AI seem to fly like an UFO gaining speed in the most wierd situations.
-
I think Heatblur toned Jester down way to much. He doesn't say a thing compared to how it used to be. About the comedy, it makes him feel alive and I wish to hear more from him. Flying around is so static and boring, might as well cheer it up a little. I hope Jester development is expanded upon and made even more alive. (talkative)

FPS bump by disabling GameDVR in Windows 10 via registry
b0bl00i replied to Mustang's topic in Game Performance Bugs
This actually improved my loading / start speed of dcs by a factor of 10. It also increased general loading speeds by a lot!! Ingame feels even smother. That's interesting! -
I've been testing extensively against a MIG29 (one of the quick start missions for the Hornet).. the AI always does the same thing if I make my turn in the beginning. feels like watching a repeat) After some time it reverts to looping with bizarr energy management (like gaining energy while I'm falling like a rock). AI is on max skill level.

TMS up once = soft lock, radar goes in to SAM or Situational Awareness Mode TMS up twice = hard lock, radar goes in to STT or single target track
