I think it's extremely annoying to have AI SU27s and MIG29s outclimb me (they continue up to 50K feet) while my Viper (clean of pylons) can't climb with them. Please fix that behavior, it's unrealistic and spoils the fun of BFM.

fixed Objects not rendering when watched from certain angles
b0bl00i replied to Vakarian's topic in 2D Video Bugs
The same can EASILY be seen with contrails, ground units, city and runway lights at night etc. Items pop in depending on your head position and zoom level. Has been like this for years. -
Hello ED, So this problem is quite old but still haven't been either acknowledged or fixed. It's about draw distance for city lights, airport and runway lights, ground units, contrails and similar. It's very annoying and strange to have lights all of a sudden increase in brightness or pop in or pop out, have contrails pop in and out depending on where you are looking in the sky, have fire from a damaged vehicle be visible but not the actual ground target. Can you please allow us to either increase draw distance of these objects or just increase the limit of when these items appear in our cockpit view. It also makes font in the hud look bold and condensed sometimes when I adjust my view zoom My resolution is 3440x1440 Everything in DCS set to MAX (view distance extreme) Only dot labels visible.. not actual units

Skynet: An IADS for Mission Builders
b0bl00i replied to flywaldair (Skynet dev.)'s topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Low level attack, turn your radar off, fly nap of the earth and drop a cbu105 or cbu 97 on top of them..Works fine with mk82 and other dumb bombs too, just make sure you hit the radars. Ofc, depending on where it's placed it can be tricky but LOW level, 30 feet usually does the trick. -
The only difference I see is that they head straight up into the stratosphere (using magic rocket engines), stall and go down again. It's not pulling any real Gs, trying to jink, defend or anything spectacular. They eat my gun rounds no matter the skill. I'd say they have SOME way to go still. I had both Su27s and MIG29s zooming from straight and level flight around 350 knots 16000 feet just climb up to 50000 feet...Good luck with that in real life. My poor viper obviously couldn't compete with that.

wip The clouds look strange at night

I also hope we get a fix for this, colors look VERY weird! -
I've seen the same happened MANY times recently.. AI SU27 flies to almost 50000 Feet to avoid getting caught. It must have some kind of rocket engine attached to it since it can just climb from 300 knots sea level all the way up to the stratosphere... The AI should be bloody good and a tough fight but it shouldn't cheat.

Thanks @Flappie I did a couple of sorties against the MIG29S (ACE) yesterday, low level BFM over water, each time after merge MIG29 goes around me but crashes in the water. I think the AI is broken unless the parameters are just right.

Roger that. I fly DCS several times a week and I know... it's extremely frustrating. Doing some BFM with SU27s and Mig29s..at the merge..they just go straight up until they fall down, not seeing any aggressive pull to get a nose position or anything.. Waiting for this AI fix is gonna be tough.

Is there a rough target period for 2022? Are we talking q1 or q4?

You are right Snappy, it's a joint effort for sure. Compentent AI with sound tactics, good dose of aggressiveness but not impossible. That coupled with a proper flight model and no cheating is what is on my wishlist. The analogue should be like flying against a human, albeit a good one. Scalable difficulty obviously.

That sounds VERY promising. I've been flying against the AI for 10+ years. If you want some honest feedback, let me know and I'll test it properly.

Not sure what you mean with not working, for me it's a great tool and I have no problems with it. I think you need to be a bit more precise with what's not working.
-
That seems like a bug to me. I always found these missiles to be a bit unfriendly to configure and use with the Viper.
-
I have the same questions and I asked BigNewy for some info over on Reddit. Would be great if the changelog actually came withe some small descriptions what they do..on the other hand, maybe this goes in to the manual pretty soon?

class selections and scan times HTS vs. RWR
b0bl00i replied to Bowman-011's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Is there a list of how different sams are classified? Like what selection equates to which sam system or type of sams? -
What we need is a new patch, and for that we wait a little.
-
Yes goes only one way, also I noticed there's no way (as far as I know) to enter any letters via the ICP other than NSEW, no CDU like in the A10C.
-
So the current way to use it is to make sure we are in A-A mode, hit ICP 7 and do tms up?
