  1. Though it should the be said. The warbrd base is massively different from the t50 base. I have one of each and the warbrd has the same range of motion without extensions at all as the t50 has with a 10cm extension.
  2. I'm curious as to why you want the lefty version? Apart from that it is a very sweet setup. The standard mongoose grip has just as many buttons as the warthog, but if you are buying now I would consider the new CM2 grip which has a 5-way hat on the thumb rest instead of just a button. And if you don't have enough on the stick you have another four on the throttle. You want the desk mounts because a desktop positioned stick is about as ergonomic as doing deadlift with your legs straight and bent back. An extension increases the range of movement on the stick thus increasing the motion needed to send a given input. This increases how precise you can be and therefore increase control.
  3. Sounds almost as if you have updated firmware but not recalibrated. The binding issue is a bug in the last two beta versions. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=233656
  4. It's a niche issue I'm sure, but for the dedicated server to work when you have a VR HMD connected. You also need the "--force_disable_VR" option on the in addition to "--norender", or it will still launch DCS in VR mode.
  5. Can confirm also have this with the F-18. And the Huey, what is super weird is I don't think I had this on Friday,
  6. I think the warning might be better suited on the product page for the mounts. But it all comes down to the same anyways. I personally have a t50 and a warbrd for right and left. The warbrd base that it's attached to is 60cm from the floor, the t50 46cm from.the floor. The t50 has a 7cm extension and the that puts the top of both grips on line with each other and with the same range of motion give or take a cm at most.
  7. This, many times this.
  8. Not necessarily, it would be running as two distinct processes, so since DCS is so limited in that regard it will on a newer mutlicore CPU take more effect from having all those threads. Also if for some instance your game could have a crash, and unless this also crashes other parts of your machine your server instance could be running just fine. I am hoping :) If it is tied in with your own account and whatnot, that might be a bit different, I really hope not.
  9. In a nutshell it means a machine running a server won't have to also render any graphics or other game bits and can fully focus on handling the communication between clients. Potentially greatly improving stability, and flexibility. For instance a server no longer will have to also sport a full fledged GPU, so more "server" specific machines will become options. Meaning less expensive to run a server full time, meaning more servers, with better respsonse, less crashes overall and thus more multilayer goodness. And really you should try the multiplayer it's where DCS truly shines even if it's just up against AI.
  10. I am getting a little flak for saying this on the hotas reddit. But I really wish that 8-way pov was an analog.
  11. For a near complete module. I would forgive you if was May 21st and no Tomcat.
  12. I'm using both Warbrd and t-50 in a left/right setup. Main differences between the t50 and Warbrd is the latter has a wider arc of movement. About 20-22° vs the t-50 15°. The end result is the Warbrd has similar range of motion without extensions as my t-50 has with a 7cm extension. And the t-50 has a pre tensionig system for the springs, but I find myself missing that a lot less than I first expected to. The warbrd was also a lot less cramped when it came to switching cams and instead of severely fragile Phillips head screw on the cams, that for a lot of people, myself included shredded when I tried to switch them. The Warbrd instead uses an 8mm socket bolt and nut. Personally I would not consider the Warbrd as a down grade to the t-50 at all.
  13. I must have used mine for more than a 100 hours and can't say, if anything it's smoother. But I also don't use any of the detents at all so I don't think I would either.
  14. I never tried VKB but I have both a t-50 and WarBRD base and I honestly think the WarBRD is the better of the two. I have the t50 mounted about 13cm lower than the WarBRD and a 7cm extension on the t50. But they both have the same range of movement, I am using them as a left and right stick setup and if I where to pick one or the other I would choose the WarBRD. It was certainly easier to switch cams and springs on the WarBRD than the t-50.
  15. For helicopter flight you can just unhook the spring entirely. Feels a bit odd in general but works well, especially in windy conditions. But mostly I prefer a slight centering force, that I find working for everything. But un-hooking the spring the spring takes about 30s. No calibration hassle or anything. Had a few situations where I just landed the chopper, un-hooked the spring and took off again, biggest hassle was taking the headset and the rift on and off.
  16. Steam/valve need to validate and test each release for issues. Hence there will be a delay between new releases. It's probably more likely that ED holds back a little on stable so the releases coincide more. Beta branches however have a much more relaxed set of verification requirements, practically none I believe so beta is just pushed out as it comes.
  17. I think it's mostly about precision and response. With good precision you won't miss the range of movement. The cosmosim cams has the same centering as the default, it is a very slight center, the springs themselves do most of the centering anyways. And I have no issue hovering the huey on the center point, with out any in game deadzones or curves, it just responds perfectly. The difference between default and cosmo is the reduced force needed to push to the end of the deflection. And even without the extension the Warbrd I just got has a another few cm of motion than my t50, I have them setup for right hand and left hand use in my space planes, which is more arcady and you need to push 100% on an axes often. This is not something you would want in a sim though, but I prefer it this way personally, it could be a little 'fly by wire'. And as mention, since it is precise I have no problem not to go full even if I don't have much physical resistance. The no center high edge force cam's for instance could probably be more appropriate for warbirds and the like, but it is a partial disassembly job to switch out and I'm very happy as is so don't see much reason to try :P As for the software. The VPC configurator is only needed for calibration and setup. All settings including button maps etc is then loaded onto the gimbal's chipsets directlt and run off the stick. Even if you took that stick and moved over to another PC it would still be calibrated and setup as before, unlike Target it does noe have to be even looked at until you need to recalibrate, which is something you would really only need until you switch grips, or change cam's etc. Unless something is really wrong there should be no drift on these. At all. I was going months without needing to recalibrate my t-50, and I see no different with this one. I have my WarBRD setup with the delta grip which also has an xbx style analog thumbstick that I have through the VPC loaded a curve one those two that allows me as detailed controll on that as I would like even for games that doesn't allow for setting curves. But that's the only two axes on a virpil product I have found needing curves. As for VKB, well I don't knoiw, nothing says to me they aren't serious, and I even have a pre order in for a gunfighter and mcg-pro combo that I should probably cancel. It's not like I have a third arm somewhere, or even would need one...
  18. I just got a warbrd in addition to my t50. And it is an impressive kit. If not more sturdy than the t50. and swapping cams and tweaking springs was easier. The cams are the ones that decide what wether it has a bump or not. By default it comes mounted with the inbetween cams, that is a light center, very light and slight resistance build-up towards the end of deflection. You also get cams for high endpoint resistance and no center. I need no curves or anything to fly helicopters etc. If center is 50% you can easily get 49-51% output if you want and when you want it. And as you would expect these axes are independent. You can apply 100-0% on one and whatever output on the other. Granted I could do that with the ch fighterstick, but that also had 8% noise on the pots. Out of the box it's deflection on the stick is slightly more than the t50 which has a 5cm extension so it simply don't need it so this could probably be mounted a little higher. I am currently using the light springs on both and the cosmo-sim cam variety. I know thats not up to simulation standards for most but that's where the swappable springs and cams come in. Change any combination of those and it will feel like a completely different gimbal. And personally prefer a precise and easy movement across the range and this gives me just that. If you for instance try the default or high force-no center cam and the harder springs, included with gimbal, you should easily be able to use an extension in this too. But you will most likely need half the extension you normally would anyways. Only x factor would be your grip, but if you wonder I can heartily recommend either of the virpil grips as well...
  19. No idea how relatd. By in DCS, and only in DCS after getting a warbrd for my delta grip. my T50 gimbal with mongoose grip was identified in DCS as Warbrd + Delta. Where as my Warbrd is identified as intended as Left Warbrd + Delta. It hasn't changed identifier anywhere else so something might have happened on the DCS side of things. Edit: My bad it seems, had applied new firmware and forgot to recalibrate.
  20. I am positively excited from these screenshots, they loook amazing. And that's probably the first time since I have honestly been excited by screenshots since the late 90's or something.
  21. Just got a WarBRD gimbal on addition to my other MT-50 and T50 throttle. And I must say, two thumbs up, way up. Software is of course the same, but I'm starting to feel rather confident with it at this point. Just as sturdy as the old, just as precise as the old, with a 5cm extension. The main difference comes when tweaking, yes it's missing the adjustable spring mechanism but I'm so far not missing that. But switching cams, which on the old was a bit of a cumbersome affair is on the WarBRD a breeze. Yes you need tools, but you really should own tools :) Currently setup for a space HOSAS with mongoose on the right, and BRD and delta on the left.
  22. The first, from what I can tell it changes the HMD's default resolution directly to cut off FOV. So the performance benefits of running a limited fov become substantial. But even the lowest FOV is far more than what is found in current HMD's. Can't say much more than that though since I'm in the mid 4k range of backers and not likely to get my unit any time soon.
  23. Totally overkill. Which in my opinion is the good kind :) Almost the same rig I have apart from the GPU and I only have 16GB or RAM. I grabbed another 16GB that is in the mail now though :)
  24. Ok, so have been poking around in the VPC, dangerous tool I know, but also promising. And this question is not so much related to DCS but this is the Virpil forum after all :) And if I double click on one of the axis listed in the main view I am, taken to this screen : (put it in a curve for demonstration purposes) Particularly the section for curve is interesting to me, and I'm sure for many others. And I was mainly wondering if this section of the software is implemented and working, or some hang around from something else. I don't need curves on the main axes, but for the thumb stick on the Delta this would be very very useful for games that doesn't allow in game curve support. Say for Elite dangerous or something. And not having to for example rely on Gremlin to setup a curve on this would be nice. This post would probably be most direct to @Cyph3r but if anyone else has a commented feel free :pilotfly:
  25. Yeah should do more than fine. Cpu is a bit old and you couldn't hurt with some faster ram, I assume the 934mhz are single channel numbers, forwards but nothing you would notice until DCS switches to Vulkan and you want to do VR, or 120+ hz Biggest hole for the experience would be the 30hz tv, or just drop down resolution to 1080p push 60fps, but then 1050ti would do the job almost as well. But that 2080ti will never show it's true potential unless you get a new ddr4 system and windows 10. (the autistics clinging to win 7 will probably have something to say about that) But for now DCS is anachronistic enough for that not to be a concern.
