I see where you're going with tying it to liveries. I think you could get more flexibility with having it adjustable like the modex. SC already used modex for comms instead of the tactical Callsign. It'd be neat to have control over both. Technically you can change it mid mission with LUA, but not too unique ones like the OP suggests.

Jester Menu QOL improvements from a single-player perspective
iantron replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
In general I agree with Jayhawk, but I'll point out that it will take a long time to learn ALL the commands. Most likely you never will. However just like learning the aircraft, you'll focus on a few things at a time and gain proficiency. Pair that with a good kneeboard, ask for help when you can't figure something out, and you'll be good. -
Jester Menu QOL improvements from a single-player perspective

I agree actually, but I wouldn't anticipate Heatblur getting into voice recognition for this. If they do, more power to them. In the mean time, it's a very elegant way to interact with jester. Just a suggestion of course. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk  I didn't even see your original specific mention of VAICOM actually. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk -
Jester Menu QOL improvements from a single-player perspective

You need VAICOM Pro for Voice Attack. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk -
Lol. Why not I guess. Probably I should have thought of that. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk

Ok goyod is the same question as my last post, but for QNH. How do I get the QNH at the carrier before takeoff? I'm guessing IRL this would be in a preflight briefing. In DCS though the authored part of the briefing can become stale for long missions. There's also a QNH listed at the bottom of the briefing screen. Is that dynamic through the course of the mission? Is it specific to the airfield (carrier) or some theater average? IIRC field ATC tells you the QNH when you request takeoff clearance, but this isn't a thing on the carrier. Yeah that's exactly the problem for the Tomcat. DG mode could work except I think I'd have to have it enabled during alignment. Otherwise the heading will already have adjusted to the local magnetic environment. I think. Perhaps if I finish alignment on the cat? Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk

Is that a hornet thing? I'm not sure if I'd be able to see that digitally in the Tomcat... Maybe on the TID. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk

Assuming you're on the deck awaiting launch, calling inbound is undesirable. What would be normal for an aircrew here? Just set to instruments plus offset once on the cat? In DCS the PLAT cam is a nice workaround. I'd still like to know how it really happens. Or otherwise have more info on comms before launch. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk

Hmm, I'm not precisely sure what you're doing, but make sure you're following a good checklist. It should say something like, bring the wings out of oversleep, engage spider detent, match commanded to actual, then master reset, then move. IIRC. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk

Jester uses wrong coordinates for INS alignment after landing and repair
iantron replied to Balu0's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Hmm, you could try manually setting the home base steerpoint first. That's just a guess that he uses it for field alignment though. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk -
+1. Feels kind of empty.

You probably want your joystick software to macro hit the gear up or gear down keyboard command once upon actuation of the switch. Otherwise the game will see the key or stick button held down constantly in either position.
-
Yeah you should set anti skid to both. Also DLC is not really an autopilot. It's a system for reducing lift without upsetting trim or pitch. It is analog variable and temporary. Engage the system and spoilers go up partially to shed lift. From there you can move the wheel up or down to shed more or less lift. Release the wheel and it snaps back to the idle position with spoilers partially up.

Sounds like this one is pretty easy to work around. I've been using the TACAN plenty lately and haven't had any problems to-date.
-
Weird. Is it consistent with the BDHI? ...oops wrong aircraft.

Presumably you can do offset bombing with an offset of 0,0,0... That's effectively bombing the waypoint. I haven't tried this.
-
What aircraft are you in? In the F-14 you have to have ICS set to hot-mic to talk to the ground crew, or the canopy open. I've also heard others say that in you're attempting to launch a second time you have to 'Request Launch' from the ground crew menu. I haven't tested this myself yet.

As did I. Only since the last update though.

The carrier won't always be able to sail an optimal course for landing. So while you're correct, you still need to be able to compensate for various crosswind. I'm not sure what's a typical or even acceptable range for carrier recovery though.

correct as is Wire wont disengage from hook
iantron replied to markturner1960's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
That pic makes it look like your landing the wrong direction. Make sure you approach from the back of the carrier. Either way so long as you go MIL power when you touch down, the cable should pull you back enough that the cable won't be hooked when you raise the hook. Don't fight the backwards pull. Go from mil to idle and wait till you stop, then raise the hook. -
