Ok, thanks. Sounds like basic instrument stuff (push the head of the needle, pull the tail of the needle). I think I probably haven't had the DH-DT switch in the right position, so it wasn't behaving like I thought it should.

I've been trying to understand this. My brain doesn't really think in Russian, I guess. Manual mode for heading and track on the HSI are self-explanatory I guess, but for the life of me, what are the desired heading/track indicators telling me on the HSI in the auto mode? The heading bug seems to point to whatever point I select on the PVI-800, but I can't tell what the track indicator is telling me. Sometimes it seems to be telling me which way to turn to get back on course, and other times, it looks like if I followed it, I would move further off the flight-plan course.

I know in the original post, he says no way to change the color, but I'm wondering if since then, anyone has found a way. As an example, the Ka-50 has white phosphorous, and the UH-1 has green. Would be nice to be able to change other A/C NVGs to white and vice versa to simulate wearing different types in different airframes.
-
I mentioned this because it’s impossible to have NVGs focused for flying (outside), and inside. They can only be focused for one distance at a time. Also, they only give about 20/40 visual acuity, if you know what you’re doing, so aren’t ideal for reading anything, if you were foolish enough to choose inside vs outside. Pilots look under the NVGs with their naked eye to read instruments. Again, mentioning this as an example of something unrealistic that people have asked for in the past to compare.
-
Not sure what to think of this. Seems presumptuous.
-
That’s very similar to the argument that some make about reading instruments through NVGs. In my opinion, it’s a realistic constraint. I imagine 64 pilots find the obscuration annoying, but deal/get used to it. if it becomes an option, I’d say make it server controlled. I believe it should be able to be stowed as well, much like the Ka-50 HMS.
-
Thanks man. I find the Ka-50 to be a bit unstable longitudinally with the gun fixed forward, but being able to flex to this is a great option when you have a sight failure.

Awesome, thanks. I knew there was a way, I just forgot how over the years.

Stuck at "Deployment - Mission 2 / Escort" (DCS 2.5)
heloguy replied to rge75's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I just played through this mission after an update, and did not apply this mod. No issues noted. -
Is there a way to lock the Shkval view forward? I recently lost my hud due to ground fire on a mission, and wondered after the fact if I could have used the Shkval as a makeshift gunsight if it had been locked forward. I can't seem to find a function in the manual that does this.

It only stops while reducing the throttle, as every turbine helo with a throttle on the collective that I've touched IRL works. Seems reasonable that, of the myriad of control setup possibilities, the one option to allow it to work as in real life would be possible in the sim, as someone is bound to make a controller that simulates realistic operation. And, here we are.
-
The stop button is activated only when you press it. Basically, it's a physical stop, but when you press the button as you would to decrease the throttle below idle, it also sends a button signal to the computer.

1. Traceless minigun ammo 2. Full range throttle axis. 3. Draw grease mark on the window.
-
I’d like to add a greasepencil mark for shooting to the Huey. Where do I start?
-
Can we get an option for traceless minigun ammo?
-
Well then, you could just not listen to him if you’re so unsure.

If it’s for vehicle interdiction, then that’s a mission task, and a commander has probably blessed off on its conduct and accepted the risk. That doesn’t mean it becomes the norm for regular approaches to landing. I guess, all I’m saying is that there’s a time and place. I was speaking as though this were a normal approach and landing sequence.

After the Gazelle, buy another Polychop Helo worth the risk?

True story. -
A circuit like that is fine, until you lose an engine during the decel at low altitude. Fine in DCS, but in real life, that kind of hot dogging would get you kicked out of flight school, at least in the US. On the line, though, depends on the commander...

Yeah, it definitely seems like a pig compared to the Ka-50. There might have to be a FARP added that is closer to some targets.

I see what you're talking about now in your pictures. I probably never noticed this because when I fly, I hold the trim release while flying maneuvers, and then release the button when the aircraft is at the attitude I would like to capture. I don't push against the force gradient, and then click the trimmer, as I've always found that to induce errors in the stick position, even in the helicopters I fly now that utilize force trim IRL. However, with the controls indicator above, it seems obvious there is no movement of the controls, but the aircraft attitude has changed, which doesn't seem right. This seems similar, but less pronounced than what you see in the Ka-50 if you use the 'Stick without springs and FFB' option: [REPORTED]Pitch Excursions while using Trim Release - Page 2 - Bugs and Problems - ED Forums (eagle.ru)

I just tried flying around using this method: - FFB off - Trimmer mode - Stick without springs or FFB - Bound DCS trim-button I don't see any over-correction problems. I can trim the helicopter however I want, and fly smoothly. I don't use the DCS CLS2 plugin, as I have always had bad luck getting it to work. With helicopters, the FFB trim is not working anyway, and you have to use hardware trim. You definitely will not get anything but rudimentary FFB effects using Brunner's plugin. Things like helicopter trim, and force trim in modern jets don't work because the interface between DCS and the plugin can't physically move the Brunner stick. The only way you can get DCS to be able to move the Brunner is by using an Arduino. I suggest you join the HOTAS Discord channel. There is a Brunner section with a lot of knowledgeable people who can help you tune the stick to how you like. https://discord.gg/

Strange indeed. Just did my first flight in the Hind using the Arduino/Brunner combo, and standard ffb trim, and I didn’t notice any issues. I’ll try the method I suggested to you and report back.

Nevermind, didn’t read all of your post… I was going to suggest your option B, which is what I used before I set up Chuls Arduino method. Not sure why your Jetseat isn’t working with FFB off. I never experienced that. Mine always worked fine with Sim Shaker for Aviators on (maroon icon) and FFB off with hardware trim on.
