  1. Low-light tracer would be great, just not sure how feasible with classification. I figure ball only is a good compromise.
  2. Ok, nevermind, figured it out. Looks like it multiplies it. I set everything to around my native res for the Index, and I saw my frames in engine jump up to between 75-80fps when I wasn't looking at anything, and between 45-50 when I was looking at heavy activity (fire, tracers, explosions, etc). Looks like I might have some overhead, but not much.
  3. Taz, thanks for the reply. I noticed that video earlier, and that is exactly what I remember with the Oculus Rift with ASW. I guess I just assumed that 100% was the native resolution, but I see that's different now, after some Googling. Does the Per Application setting add to the global setting? Or is it a replacement for the global setting?
  4. Can we get this as an option? Mainly thinking about miniguns, but it would be nice to not get blinded by tracer when shooting at night with NVGs.
  5. Quick question on Motion Smoothing. I have mostly played with this turned off, as I remember back when I had an Oculus Rift, ASW caused a lot of artifacts I preferred to not have to deal with, mostly with gunsights on WW2 A/C, and HUDs with modern A/C. I'm running a Valve Index now, and have Motion Smoothing set to off in Steam VR. I don't get any artifacts, and I see 80-90fps when operating in the GUI/Main menu, but I never see anything above 45fps when I'm actually flying in the 3d engine. Am I doing something wrong as far as settings? I know, with anyone, YMMV based on the rig you have with any settings, but my guess right now is that Motion Smoothing is off, based on the FPS I get on the menu screen, but I'm not sure, since I don't seem to ever see anything above 45fps in game. Just want to make sure it's a performance thing, and not me missing something easy.
  6. Agreed, that’s a technique. However, if you have a grease pencil in the cockpit, you take note of where the guns are hitting, and give yourself a reference, if you’re smart. Really, beside the point considering it was a common tactic. Rockets are an area weapon, and honestly, I would be using the mark to increase probability of first rounds on target. Acknowledge you can correct quickly with tracer.
  7. I've asked this before, but after seeing the grease mark on Polychop's OH-58, I'd like to request it again. Can we get a grease mark on the window (option even) for the Huey, in both seats? Any gun pilot worth his salt would not rely only on the gunsight.
  8. Still not technically true in the US Army. See here: https://www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/become-an-officer/army-officer-jobs.html You can see in the paragraph about Warrant Officers that they are not commissioned as WO1s, but when they are promoted to CW2 and beyond, they are given a commission by POTUS.
  9. There is little to no effect of rockets on the flight properties due to recoil. This is because the back of the rocket tubes are open. The rocket thrust pushes against the retention tang inside the tube until tube until it’s overcome, and releases the rocket to fly from the tube. The reason too many rockets fired at once can cause engine flameout is because the exhaust gasses can starve the engines of oxygen when they are present in too high of volume. It has little to do with the rockets’ aerodynamic affect on the engines.
  10. Any update on this? Any chance it will be fixed for BS3?
  11. If the helicopter keeps pitching down, then it may be related. If the helicopter maintains pitch, and descends, it’s more than likely because you haven’t adjusted the collective to maintain your altitude for your given pitch setting. Straight and level in a helicopter is all about balancing your control inputs.
  12. Sold.
  13. Yeah, I now use an Index for sims, and a wireless Vive Pro for roomscale stuff. Just seems like a waste that this thing is sitting around, doing nothing, so thought I'd see if anyone else wanted it. I actually just put it on eBay as well, as I figured it wouldn't hurt. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Oculus-Rift-Touch-Virtual-Reality-Headsets-with-Touch-Controllers-Black/254556465753?epid=24028670048&hash=item3b44bf6a59:g:da0AAOSwoSxeg3QW
  14. New, lightly used, still in original packaging. Located in the US. PayPal only, asking $525 plus shipping. PM if interested. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254556540050
  15. For sale, used Oculus CV1. Rubber parts of band had some slight discoloration which wiped off with some alcohol on a paper towel. Bottom part of foam has some slight tears in it, most likely due to me setting it on my Warthog throttle when not in use. Lenses/optics have no issues, and touch controllers/sensors work fine. Located in the US. Asking $180 plus shipping for the set, PayPal only, PM if interested.
  16. Nice little mod. Just flew a couple patterns with it. Feels pretty good for a generic flight model. I have only a few hours in smaller helos, most of my time is in bigger ones, but I feel like the pitch and roll is a little less stable IRL. The torque effect feels spot on, though. Fun to mess around with, and would be awesome if completely fleshed out.
  17. So far no dice. I rolled back to 2.5.5 to play the Jagdflieger campaign with some semblance of performance on my rig, so I have the additional benefit of the old sound system, but still interested in having a version that works with the latest version. Or, it would be great if ED natively had german voices for the Third Reich country choice.
  18. Same issues here with performance on 2.5.6. Kind of regretting waiting to fly it until now, as I really like the new Shark cockpit, and the lighting with 2.5.6, but just itching to fly this campaign primarily. I went ahead and rolled back to 2.5.5, and just as Reflected mentioned, the performance difference is ridiculous. I still had some pretty extreme slowdown once the B17s started shooting on MSN4 (8700k, 1080ti, and Valve Index), but it was actually playable for the most part. I used the F10 unit reduction as well for a good comparison with my attempt to fly it with 2.5.6. I was able to make a couple of frontal attacks, and get one kill. There is a noticeable difference in how the game engine looks (probably due to lighting) between 2.5.5 and 2.5.6. Hopefully the performance drop with 2.5.6 isn't a permanent thing that forces us to wait for a computer 2 generations from now to enjoy this campaign with the latest version.
  19. For some reason the A-4 shows up on random mission briefings for missions it isn't involved in (ie, F-14 instant action). Is there a way to fix this without uninstalling the mod?
  20. I'm going to mess with it too.
  21. Also looking to get this mod working again. Right when I decide to try the Jagdflieger campaign...
  22. Definitely second this. Until DCS gets accurate radio voices for WW2 Germany, it would be nice to be able to use the user mods correctly.
  23. How about a good F-14 AB curve? Anyone have a good one yet?
  24. Hello all, This is my second extension I've ordered from Sahaj, and can't be happy enough. I've moved on from the Warthog to a Brunner CLS-E, and subsequently picked up a Realsimulator F-16GRH. The issue with the RS grip is that the connecting nut is slightly different from the Warthog, and was not compatible with Sahaj's extension. I sent him an email with pictures, and a request to build me a modified extension that would fit with the RS grip. He replied quickly, and without hesitation to build the custom extension. Everything works great, and just as expected. Thanks!
