  1. Does the TF-51D really give you a good impression of how the other WW2-aircraft are modelled? I thought it was only on a Flaming Cliffs level.
  2. So you managed to amass 100 flight hours in the logbook? That is extreme! The Hornet can do much more than the M-2000 and it will offer you a significantly different feeling. The Hornet also has much more weapontypes. The only similarity is that both have flight-by-wire, but the flight behavior is still different of course. Persia Map has overall positive reviews on Steam. Most details can be found in Dubai, so other places like Southern Iraq or the Western part of the map are not very detailed due to performance reasons. Still I can highly recommend it, because most parts are well done plus you get lots of interesting mountain areas in Persia.
  3. Just wanted to add a question concerning this issue: Is it possible to disable the animation of the pilot heads (both of the pilot and RIO) during flight? That would be a decent workaround for me.
  4. When I switch my control back to the F-14, after controlling a ground unit with the Combined Arms module, the animation of the pilot head starts to shake every few seconds. I can see the shaking in the mirror. So I hope this little loading bug gets fixed in the F-14. Edit: The same problem occurs when I simply go to the "choose slot" window without even taking control of another AI unit.
  5. Just bought CA. Actually you can start as a pilot, drive a vehicle and then get back to your aircraft again. It justs takes a few seconds until your aircraft model is loaded again, when you switch back. And also small loading bugs seems to occur, but I think I will have some fun with this DLC. Edit: However, there is a very annoying issue. Even though I can set waypoints for normal AI aircraft, I cannot do it for my own aircraft after AI took control over it. I think the AI of my plane simply tries to land on the nearest airbase. Is that a known bug? Do we have a workaround for this? Edit2: Ok, now the workaround is simply that you use the player slot for a fake aircraft in the mission editor, which is not supposed to be used, so you can actually deactivate it with a trigger a few seconds after mission start. When the mission starts you simply use the "jump into other aircraft"-button (RALT+J) to fly another selected AI aircraft, if you own it in DCS. That aircraft will be always controllable with waypoints, because it started the mission as a normal AI unit. Still I hope ED is going to fix this bug, so I do not have to use such an awkward workaround. :(
  6. I have not tried to overheat it yet, but according to Grim Reapers it must get cooled, when it was used for too long. Spudknocker even mentioned that the Lantirn could catch fire in real life, but probably that is not simulated in DCS. I need to use automode or latchmode, because I am playing in singleplayer without any real RIO. Most of the time I need to be in the front seat to maintain line of sight during the bomb drop.
  7. So it is not possible to lase a target myself and then go back in my aircraft in order to bomb it? I hoped that your aircraft would fly straight or get AI controlled while you are in a ground vehicle. It would be very disappointing for me, if you cannot play in the flight sim, commander sim and first person shooter during a single mission.
  8. Never mind then. :D
  9. Ok, after rewatching the tacview replay closely, it seems like the bomb has already moved past the targets, when the laser was turned on automatically. I must have hugely miscalculated the effect of moving targets. I guess I should have turned on the laser manually 20 seconds before impact by holding the half action button? Must try again.
  10. I have found out that my guided bombs only track the target, when I am latching the laser (i.e. keeping it on during the whole bomb flight), but I am afraid that might overheat the laser on the long run. Setting the laser to automode does not do anything, because the bomb would simply fall ballistically according to Tacview. Maybe it is because the laser in automode is turned on too late, but my altitude should not be a problem, since it is only 15000 feet. I am also using GBU-16, since I have read that the other GBUs are bugged. So what is the problem? I pretty much followed the same steps like in the Grim Reapers tutorial. The only difference is that I am trying to attack a moving object. It seems like the manual cannot help me either.
  11. I wish to have an option for Iceman to hold the current position of my joystick and throttle, when I switch to the RIO seat. It would make life much easier imo.
  12. Hmmm... or maybe it is because there are not many customers who have bought WW2 aircraft, so ED had to increase the price to quality ratio. Though I hope that Kang is right. It is hard to say, since I could not find much in depth WW2 content about DCS on youtube.
  13. Are there any videos about how to use SAM sites in 2.5? Does Combined Arms already have radar screens for SAM units? I only found some videos about older versions of DCS (in German).
  14. That sounds to me like if you were only flying easy missions. I mean it would be almost like if someone complained about the F-14, just because he turned on the autopilot of the F-14 while killing all bandits with Phoenix missiles from a distance with ease. That would not be a fair criticism. Some reviewers say that it only looks good from a low altitude. So probably I would only enjoy it in a Viggen or in a Helo, because I do not own WW2 aircraft. Btw. why are the WW2 planes as expensive as modern fighters? Aren't their systems muss less sophisticated?
  15. I already got PG and even Nevada. Both maps are great for terrain masking and for desert lovers like me.
  16. Besides of the F-15, will there be any other aircraft from FC3 that will reach a high fidelity level one day?
  17. Of course I know that simply flying forward is easy. I actually meant that turning and maneuvering the Ka-50 during combat is pretty hard. Even when you were simply flying forward, it is still not that easy to stop and stabilize your helo within a short time in case you got an enemy ahead. And avoiding vortex ring states in certain situations makes it even harder. @spring sale: Currently I have lots of planes to learn, so I was considering to buy something simple like Combined Arms, but at the moment lots of negative reviews are discouraging me. Same goes for the Normandy map.
  18. Really? I found the Ka-50 to be very hard to maneuver even with my rudder controller and with the autopilot turned on.
  19. I have observed something interesting: Flight Hours are mainly recorded, when you are during a combat situation. I have flown many missions, where I was just cruising with relatively low enemy contact, which resulted in very few flight hours. However, when I am doing one of the quick missions for dogfights, then my flight hours match pretty much my actual flight time. Maybe my theory is not exactly true, but it explains many things. E.g. why you do not get flight hours during tutorial missions. Now if my theory is true, then the recorded flight hours are a very meaningful indication about how much experience you have gained during actual combat.
  20. It is quite easy. In Lua a colon automatically inserts the class itself into the first argument of the function. So myGroup:getUnit(2) should be the same as myGroup.getUnit( myGroup, 2) if I am not mistaken. In this case imagine myGroup.getUnit as a function with actually two arguments, which needs the object in the first and the number in the second argument.
  21. lol. You forgot the colon in the 2nd example. myGroup = Group.getByName("tanks") myUnit = myGroup:getUnit(2)
  22. Du meinst diese Einstellung, die die Performance betrifft? Wie hat sich bei dir die Performance denn geändert?
  23. You probably meant 5 years ago, right? I am just trying to not misunderstand your sentence.
  24. I have noticed this blur only at the edge of the map near Oman. I guess ED had to do that in order to save RAM memory usage or something.
  25. Oh, sehr schade.
