Yes, exactly! At first it turns very well towards the target (see first image), but after the first shot the offset becomes much bigger like you can see in the second image: I have tested this several times and I have always the same issue. The helo is still kind of following the aim reticule after the first shot, but it is pointing too much to the right like you can see in the second image.

I have a slightly similar problem. In my case the black shark points roughly towards the target or towards the direction of the diamond, but for some reason it always points a little bit to the right of it. That may sound like the trim is causing this issue, but it happens even when I never changed the trim. So I have the same problem that I have to turn my helicopter before I can launch my weapon, which makes combat much more difficult.

I know that feeling, bro. During this sale I am very tempted to buy the MiG-21, too. But I have promised myself to spend at least 20h on each of my present modules before I buy new ones, not only to keep the price per hour ratio in reasonable limits, but also to prevent getting confused by learning too many aircraft at once. :)

I just bought the Mirage, because I am more interested in Air-to-Air Combat. Like the Hornet it has a fly-by-wire-system, but other than that it really gives me a nice different experience. And I got to say the French voices in the tutorials sound hilarious. You got to love French! :megalol: Besides the Nevada map and the Red Flag campaign I also decided to buy the Ka-50. So I have spent much more than I orginally intended, but I think it should be worth it in case there will be a price hike after its cockpit get overhauled. But even in the current state the cockpit is still decent. I had no serious problems with it.
-
So do these changes mean that I should wait for the update before I start learning how to use weapons for the Mirage?
-
Is there any reason why I cannot choose any preset or custom loadout for intercept-missions? I can only do it for missions like CAS. Google gave me no answers why.
-
Das finde ich auch komisch, aber bei mir waren es nicht mehr als 10 GB oder so. Selbst die Nevada-Map (also das vom Speicher her wohl größte Modul in DCS) verbraucht weniger als 30 GB. Also mach dir keine Sorgen drum!

Sorry guys, it seems like my program files were just faulty. So after using the repair function in steam it is working again. Case closed. :)

Before the last Beta Patch everything was fine, but now I am not able to use ATC any more. For me it is still possible to use the easy communications menu and I can select items like "Intent to refuel", but after klicking one of those ATC options my pilot remains silent and nobody is replying. Even when I am doing the simple instant refueling mission, the ATC does not work any more. This bug occures for all my aircraft no matter if it is for the Hornet, the Su-33 or the Mirage, so it is definitely a general bug. In my options "Allied Flight Reports", "Radio Assist" and "Easy Communications" are on. So I do not know what else to do. This is a very bad bug, because I am not able to do most of the missions any more.

Oh, my bad. I wrote that post just before watching the second video.

Thanks very much for the dogfight! I was a little bit surprised how quick real hornet pilots can hit the ground. :D I hope we will see more of this in the future and maybe even a debriefing in Tacview.

I was almost about to buy the Viggen now, but probably I should also make my decision dependent on the availability of good campaigns. :D There are Red Flag campaigns for the Viggen as well, but it does not have a very good review. So if the campaigns for the Mirage are much better, then I will buy the M-2000 instead.
-
Thanks for your replies! So I think I will either take the Viggen or the Mirage (in addition to Nevada). This will be a hard decision though, because both aircraft look like a lot of fun.

It is very important to watch your angle of attack (AoA). Once your gear is lowered you should see a symbol on your HUD, which looks like a stretched letter "E". To get the optimal AoA your velocity vector (the small circle on the HUD) should be between the markers of the "E" on your HUD. Then your AoA will be optimal. An optimal AoA allows you to stay up in the air while flying at a low speed around 130-140 knots. The slower your speed, the easier your landing will be. So adjust your throttle and your trim to get the optimal AoA at around 130-140 knots for your final landing speed. For beginners this will take some time, so it is best to approach the carrier from a distance of about 10nm, which will give you enough time to adjust your aircraft. 10nm miles sound like a lot, but noobs will have enough things to do during that time until all thing are set up properly. If you have done it correctly your velocity vector should point roughly on the carrier while being between the markers of the "E". Your pitch trim should allow you to make almost no pitch corrections by yourself with your joystick. At this time flying your Hornet should be as easy as steering a truck on an aerial highway. Also watch your altitude. The carrier deck is on an altitude of around 70 feet above the ground. So when your are very close to the carrier you should not be much higher than 300 feet. Again your velocity vector can help you to find the right sink rate, when it points on the carrier (or maybe a little bit above the carrier to make sure you do not get dangerously low). Once you are close enough to the carrier your approach should be stable enough so you do not have to make any throttle adjustments or big adjustments of your altitude/heading. So in the last few 10 seconds before landing you should just concentrate on moving your joystick to get your Hornet on the deck (even if your speed gets higher during that process). I personally only concentrate on my velocity vector and try to point it on the middle of the carrier deck, to make sure I do not hit the dangerous front edge of the carrier or overshoot the deck. Last but not least when you touch down on the deck you should put your nose up a little bit to make sure your hook catches one of those wires of the carrier. Otherwise you might simply roll on the deck while missing all the wires. Actually if you have managed to keep your optimal AoA even on touch down, then your nose should be high enough to catch a wire. Maybe this procedure is not exactly what Hornet pilots do, but for me it works without big problems. At least this should help you to learn the most important things for carrier landings. Later on you can start learning how to do it like a pro like you can see in Wags tutorial video on youtube.

Great work ED! The new sounds are well done.

After the recent update my communications do not work. I am able to get access to the communication menu and request for a bogy dope, but my pilot is saying nothing and nobody replies.

During this sale I am also trying to figure out which modules to buy next for DCS. I want to buy two additional modules and the first one is probably going to be the Nevada map, because it is nothing new for me to learn, just some nice additional content. The second module should be something that is not similar to the F18 or the F14, which I already own. Now please correct me if I am wrong, but based on reviews and videos I have collected the following short informations about the modules that I am mostly interested in at the moment: MiG-21: This is the only Russian high-fidelity aircraft in DCS and it offers quite a challange. I have already flown the Su-33 and I liked the absence of fly-by-wire, which makes the aircraft more shaking and challenging. Since I like this behavior, I believe the MiG-21 might be a good choice for me. Viggen AJS-37: This is mostly an air-to-ground aircraft, which is able to fly very low to avoid SAMs until it unleashes its deadly load on ground targets. Because of this it reminds me of the Tornado fighter, which I really like. In addition the air-to-ground radar seems to be quite interesting. Mirage M-2000: Used by many nations in the Near East it fits quite well to the Persia Map (which I already own). It seems to be interesting in air-to-air combats and you have to learn how to correctly use its missiles. In the cockpit its front looks a little bit narrow, but its engines at the side are looking very badass from the cockpit view. Black Shark Ka-50: Very easy to fly, but it is hard to use its weapons. I am not sure if this is good or bad, but anyway I feel like I should own at least one helicopter, because sometimes I like to fly slow and also I want to make more use of my pedals. Other helicopters may have more interesting flight behaviors than the Ka-50, but I have read that the Ka-50 is going to get a better cockpit, which is something that I did not read about other helo modules in DCS. So maybe now it is a good time to buy it, unless ED is planning to publish a totally new helicopter in the near future (which does not seem to be the case). Currently I am tending to buy the Viggen, but I would be also glad to hear different opinions.

Thx for the link! Still there are some things I do not understand. Could someone explain this please?

TrackIR and Opentrack/Delanclip/PS Eye
Tiramisu replied to imacken's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have found another reason for your problem: Check the zoom of your PS3 camera. A few hours ago I just had the problem, that my DelanClip has become very unprecise. Resetting the zoom has solved this problem for me. Try to capture a bright object like a light bulb with your PS3 camera and then rotate its zoom wheel until the video capture gets as sharp as possible. -
Yeah, I guess as a F14 owner I really have to get Vaicom now. Are there any suggestions which version I should buy? Their site https://www.vaicompro.com/get-license.html offers a promotion bundle for 9€ right now. Maybe I should get that version.
-
For me this has worked, but it is not a very satisfying solution, because I want to watch it from outside. It seems like those missiles are not guided any more, when you touch something in the replay. Everything else works fine, but some annoying bug is causing the missiles to flight straight into nowhere instead of tracking the target properly like in the original play.

Ok, I was hoping that ED would be able to get some informations about the MiG-31 from the US government or from whoever spies on the Russians. I mean the US or some of their allies like the Japanese were able to get a few MiGs because of traitors who switched sides. I just was not sure if they also got the MiG-31, too.

Recently I have bombed a runway with a Su-33. Afterwards I tried to land on it and my airplane exploded. The crater is only displayed as a small 2d-texture on the runway, but when I rolled on the bombcrater my plane merged with the ground just before it exploded. This is a screenshot I have made in a slow-motion-replay right before my crash: I know that some bombs only create a small bump on runways which does not destroy them, but in this case my bomb had a big blast. I just do not remember its name any more.
