  1. Wrong. The facts are: 1. It is called "Open Beta". 2. ED has always been very clear about the purpose of Open Beta. 3. Everyone knows what "Open Beta" means. 4 YET...some people keep insisting Open Beta MUST be something it was never intended to be. Quite frankly, this is getting tiring. Personally, I think everyone should have to check a box acknowledging an understanding of the purpose of an Open Beta release before they can download.
  2. Bignewy has written a couple of times that multicore is currently in internal testing.
  3. Fair enough. And likewise, I'm getting tired of people using an acknowledged open beta product but insisting that it must perform like a finished product. And regarding the server situation, take it up with the admins.
  4. Apparently Open Beta is not for you. Conveniently, ED also has a stable version.
  5. Is this a good time to remind people it’s called “Open BETA” for a reason?
  6. It's there now.
  7. In case any of you Tigershark fans haven't heard of this book: https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/1809254.Warriors
  8. Whether we get it in DCS or not, it's nice to be reminded that the old girl is still flying and ready to fight.
  9. This is quickly becoming a mother and child reunion.
  10. 100% true, except of course when it isn’t. Because like so much else in aviation, “it depends”.
  11. So your explanation above about being “concerned with the health and behavior” was specific to the TF30. Got it now.
  12. True, but I don’t understand the significance of that here.
  13. I would be happy for a Christmas Miracle! All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, multicore support, and the mighty F-4 Phantom II.
  14. The Hornet does, too And the F-16
  15. Just don't expect that to work at the boat. Keep your speed brake fully extended.
  16. To be clear I'm talking about non-military (and certainly non-U.S. Naval) airports here. During a cross county flight to those types of airports it is not unusual at all to have to fly a modified pattern if the local rules required it. Sometimes they might even have to fly the dreaded straight-in!
  17. Ultimately if you're not "going to the boat" then do what you want. You're basically simulating a land-based pilot flying a Tomcat. Also, in RL it's common practice for Naval Aviators to fly modified patterns in order to conform with local area rules at airports. And as long as you're not landing on the carrier, AOA at touchdown is not critical, or even necessary. But you probably want to fully extend the speed brake in the overhead turn and keep it out until touchdown.
  18. And you won't look as good in the break with the wings forward.
  19. That's not a bad question, but I don't think any airplane anywhere has the gear retract automatically.
  20. Just pull the power back once airborne to slow your acceleration.
  21. You left out the Buccaneer. The Brits are never going to let you hear the end of that.
  22. Cab

    F-15E vs. F-18C

And just think how much better the Strike Eagle will be if the CFTs can be removed! Am I right!? (Sorry. I couldn't control myself)
  23. Speaking for myself, this is good enough. Thanks, IronMike. I know you guys are making the best effort.
  24. This is actually really good news. I mean, if they weren’t going to make 2022 they would have announced that already, right? Right?
  25. I agree 100%. Skepticism is always a healthy approach regarding pilots’ stories. But I don’t see why they would lie about manually sweeping the wings, so long after the fact. Embellish the effectiveness of their own flying? Sure. But the manual wing sweep thing rings true with me. And I do agree with Rustbelt above. I can see it being a “gamer” move but not something one would do going up against a Sicilian. You know, when death was on the line!
