  1. And the bonus is if you destroy five of your own jets that way you become an enemy ace!
  2. I agree with all the above. I just don’t think “alternate” is the correct word.
  3. The paragraph that begins with, "With the F-111B eliminated..." makes it sound like the F-111B and F-14 were being concurrently developed, and when the F-111B was canceled the CAP mission (as the document puts it) with Phoenix missiles was shifted to the F-14 as an "alternate mission". If I am understanding that correctly, that is not accurate.

  5. Trolls got to eat, too.
  6. I remember when people said the internet was going to make everyone more educated and smarter
  7. And yet from the very beginning F-14 had: - Maneuvering flaps (although apparently the auto function of these was added after reaching the fleet.) - Easy switching between air-to-air weapons (pre-HOTAS, even) - And even air-to-ground capability for crying out loud!!! Yes, the F-14 was designed to counter the Soviet bomber threat, but it came with a whole lot more. Also, if you go back to Episode 2, the guest pilot and RIO said all they did for the first several years was air-to-air and dogfighting.
  8. Contender for funniest post of the year.

    Tiger II for 2.7

This is actually more realistic than most people know.
  10. IMHO differential braking is always a pain compared to NWS. But like anything else you get used to it.
  11. My side of the confusion is solved. I didn't realize I had the A-4E-C mod installed to two places on my drive. One in the Saved Games Mods folder and one in an OvGME folder. As a result I the previous version wasn't completely uninstalled when I installed the current RC1 version. After correcting that and reinstalling I too no longer have nose wheel steering.
  12. Interesting that yours and mine are different. Since I am the only one here who sees nose wheel steering as an option, I'm going to reinstall mine from scratch and see if I did something wrong.
  13. A little internet research seems to indicate nose wheel steering and spoilers were introduced with the A-4F. Both were also retrofitted to earlier A-4E's.
  14. You don't see the "Nose Wheel Steering" option in my screenshot above? That's weird. Now I'm confused.
  15. Are you asking how the nose wheel steering works in real life? If so, I have no idea because I have never flown the A-4E. In DCS however, if you map a button on your HOTAS or keyboard to the "Nose Wheel Steering" command in the Action column (see picture below), then press that button while working your rudders, you will steer the aircraft.
  16. Are you talking about the mapping process?
  17. Map a button to "Nose Wheel Steering". To steer, press the button and steer with the rudder pedals.
  18. I can't explain it. The version I have is Community_A-4E-C_v2.0.0-RC1 To be sure I went ahead and deleted my A-4 config folder in saved games and restarted the game. Nose Wheel Steering was an option under Stick (see the screenshot below). I mapped it to a button and confirmed it works.
  19. It's a button not an axis, and I already did that. It works fine. I wrote that because it seems people are saying nose wheel steering was removed from the latest version. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something.
  20. I see "Nose Wheel Steering" as a mapping option in the RC-1 release.
  21. For some reason I don't think too many people were "offended" by ED not IMMEDIATELY putting the Mosquito on a free trial. But that might just be me.
  22. Agreed. And maybe that was a lesson for them from the Mi-24 release. Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes you have to learn as you go and make changes accordingly.
  23. So? What did the delay cost you? It's not like you're actually standing in line somewhere only to be told there's nothing to be waiting for.
