Looking for some more BuDs (BUsy DadS) to fly and chat with?
GTFreeFlyer replied to GTFreeFlyer's topic in Multiplayer
Yes, we are on Discord. All the BuDs meet up on Discord and then one will start up a server, then whoever is online and wants to join will hop into one of our voice channels on Discord. We don’t have any arranged missions or times in BuDs. A lot of the guys also play in other servers, or if there’s a cool arranged mission going on somewhere else, we’ll let each other know and then hop over there. BuDs is more of just a meetup place for any last minute casual play. We usually have 2-3 on at once, but as many as 7-8 during more of the “peak” hours. Our group is a little unique as we are more of just a hang out place with random action, rather than a formal squad. Not sure how you’d like to affiliate unless one of you hops in and see how we operate. I wouldn’t mind you hopping in to let us know when you have some arranged mission with your buds going on, as I’m sure a few guys would be interested once in a while. I only ask that you don’t use our group solely for that purpose, and please do participate with us as well. We are a fun bunch and the random shenanigans are quite fun too. We have another group of friends in BuDs too and they all joined together. There are no commitments in our group. You are still free to break away and do your own thing with your friends any time you please. BuDs would simply be a place for you or your other friends to check out when your server is empty. With 36 of us now, there’s usually someone available to fly with at a moment’s notice. Sorry if that’s confusing. I try to make sense when I can, lol. PM me if you are interested. Cheers bud! -
DCS World 2.5.x Caucasus Terrain Textures

Copy that. Just to clarify: This is true for the texture files AND .lua file, correct? -

Hi Mustang. Thanks for that. Any insight into my question two posts up? Will updates reset my textures back to default? -

Thanks for getting in touch. Several of the guys in the group have dedicated servers too, but here in BuDs, the first person online usually puts up a server and chooses the mission and whoever comes online next will usually hop into that. This gives everyone a chance to showcase their own missions, and also makes it so that there’s something new to do each time you hop into BuDs. You never know what it will be :) -
Yeah, just an estimate. I use them to slow down, but once I’m full dirty and on speed I retract them.

DCS World 2.5.x Caucasus Terrain Textures
GTFreeFlyer replied to Mustang's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
I'm a little confused about how the updates work, also about the DCS root folder vs. the saved games folder. For this specific mod, I have the terrain.cfg.lua file in F:\DCS World\Mods\terrains\Caucasus. Does this file get replaced each time I run an update? If I were to create a folder called C:\Users\jonat\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\terrains\Caucasus, and place the terrain.cfg.lua file in there, would it be used instead of the one in the root folder and not need to be updated? Does DCS give priority to whatever is in the Saved Games folder, or does it not work like that? -

Open beta. But if you are like me and have the release version, it’s super easy to update to open beta. No reinstall required. You just have to change the target path of the icon on your desktop and it’s done :). If BuDs sounds like something you’ll enjoy, send me a PM. -

Problems with Landing Training Mission
GTFreeFlyer replied to flyingfed's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
The best thing is to not take any action whatsoever until the voice instructions are 100% complete, then wait a few extra seconds. This worked well for me. -

Which Maverick model? Are your Mavs the selected weapon shown on HUD?

Realistic spotting mod for Oculus Rift users

I got a quick response from ED in the past after submitting a help ticket on their website. In fact, two different people contacted me back within 24 hours. Try that route. -
[CANNOT REPRODUCE] Cockpit displays way too blurry
GTFreeFlyer replied to GTFreeFlyer's topic in Bugs and Problems
Any other ideas? Like I said above, I found a work-around, but don’t know how to adjust the DDI line thickness and the HUD line thickness separately. TIA. -

[CANNOT REPRODUCE] Cockpit displays way too blurry

Ok so repair didn't work. I've been playing with the file, "F:\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\Multipurpose_Display_Group\Common\indicator\MDG_strokesDefs.lua" and that is doing the trick. Settings for the Rift are now stroke_thickness =0.12 stroke_fuzziness =0.06 -- Currently is used for DMC generated fonts black outline DMC_outline_thickness = stroke_thickness *3 DMC_outline_fuzziness = stroke_fuzziness *1.1 DMC_stroke_thickness =0.12 DMC_stroke_fuzziness =0.06 However, this really thins out the lines on the HUD too. How can I separate the settings for the HUD? -

Yup, still same issues. I haven't tried repair yet but I will say that I've tried it in several different instant action missions, Caucasus and PG. Also rebooted my PC. Issue remains. I just downloaded the Hornet today. Running Stable version, but it has been updated to the latest open_beta. -

Repair DCS, or only the module? -
So I picked up the Hornet just today. The screens in cockpit look as shown in my attached image. This only happens when starting up DCS in VR mode and it is what I see in VR and also mirrored on the monitor. When I start up DCS in non-VR mode, cockpit looks fine. What am I missing?

VAICOM PRO plugin for VoiceAttack Thanks, will try it. Is there anything I can modify in there rather than uninstall/reinstall? I’m just curious what broke? Wipe clean and reinstall doesn’t help figure it out for next time. Also, did you redo all of Voice Attack or just ViaCom? Hollywood?

Realistic spotting mod for Oculus Rift users
GTFreeFlyer replied to Reflected's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Drives me nuts that the dot shows up through the aircraft objects. It should be obscured by objects. Is there a mod for this? -
True about not real nav aids, I completely agree, but FAA here is decommissioning VORs because GPS is taking over. Might as well use that GPS if you can :) There’s always the F10 map for navigation, hahaha!
-
Can’t you just navigate to steerpoint? Use the TAD to place mark points and fly to them.
-
That is something I did at the beginning at forgot about it! Thanks. Will try it out. Is that a command within DCS or is it an Oculus command?

I was messing with settings, too many at once, now I can't figure out which one "broke" what I had. Now, when I look off to the side and perform a roll, I see a double horizon. Also when passing over buildings, there is a double-image. It's not v-sync as I thought it might be. Will tune one setting at a time next time. Ideas what it may be?
