  1. I'm here to resurrect an old thread. I'm sure that time has changed lots of things. What are the new must have mods for A-10C and DCS? Also for VR? 1. I have the A-10C cockpit labels mod to make reading the text easier in VR. 2. I picked up Mustang's terrain textures mod, but haven't tried it out yet. 3. I also picked up the spotting mod for VR users. What else to improve the realism, performance, etc? I'm not interested in any "cheat" mods. TIA
  2. If you had just pushed the two gas pedals with your toes, one for each engine, airplane would have accelerated down the runway [emoji3]
  3. Thanks! I’ve been looking for this for the legacy version too since I like to take my time to review the next mission while I’m on my lunch break at work. That way I can hop straight into the pit when I get home. However, don’t worry about it, I’m almost done with 2.2 and looking forward to 3.0 soon. I think I’ll likely play PF first while all the 3.0 bugs are sorted out. I saw some bug fixes in the latest stable release. Much appreciated! Thanks. Regarding Dropbox, I was recently considering switching to Google Drive, lol. 2GB free (Dropbox) vs 15GB free (Drive) is a big deal.
  4. Am I wasting my time trying to restart an engine after extinguishing the fire? IRL I would assume there is permanent damage and immediately RTB on one engine, which is what I do in the sim. Is the permanent damage modeled in the sim, or is it possible to restart the engine?
  5. ...the things you take for granted. Haha. It’s tough being a noob.
  6. Will start a new search now that I know they are called brevity codes. Thanks.
  7. Sheesh, both are 3 syllables. Why not just say “on the move”. Lol. That’s what gets me. Thanks for clarifying that one. Still looking for a glossary.
  8. Every mission, campaign, etc, seems to throw all sorts of acronyms, lingo, abbreviations or whatever at me and -as a noob- I usually have no idea what they mean. As a general aviation pilot IRL, I usually have a pilot/controller glossary which I can reference if needed. Is there an equivalent for military speak? For example (this may be easy for you), I was told that friendlies were “OM to the AO”. I think AO is area of operations? No idea what OM is. Would be nice to be able to look it up. Much help appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Ah yes. This gets everyone. Mine was reversed as well.
  10. Incorrect Airspeed? Yup, as above, pitot heat! Although, I believe it’s incorrectly modeled in the sim. No visible moisture, and you’ll still be able to freeze your pitot in DCS. Either way, pay attention to your temperatures aloft during the prebrief, and if you expect to be flying at freezing temps, turn on the pitot heat. Option B, since you will likely not burn out the heater in the sim, just leave it on all the time. Make it part of your start up procedure.
  11. Will try it soon. Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ll likely take a break from VR today. My brain needs it. I was in VR for too many hours yesterday.
  12. Mavericks will soon be your better friend :)
  13. TPOD Question I also notice you had GBU’s selected and 3/9 mode. You’re not going to be hitting any moving targets with that! Edit: never mind. Didn’t realize they were 10’s and laser guided.
  14. I find it helpful to regularly drop markpoints on the targets, especially immediately when they are masked. I’ll probably have created at least 10 markpoints on the target before I get around to destroying it. I find it much easier to reacquire them quickly by slaving to the last markpoint and then they should be just a short distance from there, in the direction they were headed. It’s so frustrating when you were just about to kill them, but then lost sight of them because you went back to INR mode, and then it takes another few minutes to find them again. I know you’ve been there :) Any other good tips for moving targets from anyone else? I came up with that one on my own, but I’m sure many have figured it out before me.
  15. So I put MSAA at 4x and I as getting around 32 FPS. Reduced to 2x and back up to 45. Tried increasing PD from 1.3 to 1.5, but it killed the frame rate again, so I started eliminating trees and grass, but still couldn’t get 45 FPS. Tried 1.4 but it still didn’t do it. Back to 1.3 and it’s smooth. Low level flying at tree tops knocks FPS down to mid 30’s I went even lower with PD to 1.2 and didn’t notice much difference in clarity, but frame rate is great for VR even at tree top level. I couldn’t fix the shimmer with any option. It’s mostly when I’m flying low and there is background moving quickly behind the forward fins of the sidewinder where I see the issues. I’m just going to leave it alone for now. Tired of testing. Question though, should I be using the Nvidia settings to override game settings, or use in-game settings only? Is antialiasing different whether enable in game vs through nvidia?
  16. Someone here created a texture mod for all the labels around the instruments. I found it on the forums, so search around. Made it much easier for me to read the text in VR.
  17. Ok, turning FXAA off for the next attempt. Which one is MSAA? That's not listed anywhere unless it's known as something else. See my list above, which I copied from the options I was presented with. Thanks for the reply.
  18. Oooh! I can confirm I got it installed! Now I have a problem... I'm half way through the original version. Do I finish it off or give it up? I kind of want to finish it off so I can get the full experience, although I'm dying for more voiceovers and interaction which I know I can get right away from 3.0. You see how this is a problem? lol Also, I bought Piercing Fury a while back and haven't touched it. I was thinking of doing that one next, then coming back to TEW 3.0 just to change things up. Not sure what to do. Problem is now compounded! Also, there's that sale ending real soon and I've got my eye on the Persian Gulf. A change of scenery would be nice, but I'm only flying the A-10 at this time and not sure what good campaigns/missions exist. Either way, I think I'm far from that. Still need to play PF and TEW 3.0. Thanks again.
  19. Engine core RPM, or actual throttle position from the joystick? hit Rctrl+enter to view and see if you are actually getting full joystick command. If so, you are good. I don't think the core RPM gets up to 100%.
  20. These are my settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel: Anisotropic filtering: 16x AA-FXAA: On AA - Gamma correction: On AA - Mode: Override any application setting AA - Setting: 8x AA - Transparency: 4x (supersample) Max pre-rendered frames: 4 Multi-frame sampled AA (MFAA): On Shader cache: On Vertical sync: On VR pre-rendered frames: 1 My DCS in-game settings are (some items are off because they should be overridden by the above settings, correct?) Textures: high Terrain textures: high civ. traffic: high water: high visb. range: extreme heat blur: high shadows: high msaa: off depth of field: off lens effects: dirt+flare motion blur: on ssaa: off clutter/grass: currently half way, but I had it maxed out. Did not notice difference. trees visibility: 100% preload radius: maxed out chimney smoke density: maxed out gamma: 1.5 (I like this look the best when in VR) Anisotropic filtering: off terrain object shadows: flat cockpit global illumination: on rain droplets: on disable aero interface: off vsync: off full screen: off scale gui: on VR pixel density: 1.3
  21. I’m using the Rift and flying the A-10C with most graphics options turned up to the max, mostly through NVIDIA’s options. I’m not sure how exactly to describe it, but everything looks really great (and frame rate is solid at 45) except for the tips of the sidewinders when I look off to my right side. They seem to shimmer, or be slightly translucent. The edges sort of flicker. I can’t pin down which setting to play with to fix this. If you do offer a suggestion, please let me know if you’ve actually experienced the same thing or are simply taking your best guess. Both options are welcome, but I’ll obviously try one out before the other. Perhaps it’s not even a setting, perhaps it is a bug or just simply because the Sidewinders were not created for VR and there’s no fix for this yet. I’m clueless. Again, it seems to be only the tips of those weapons; all else looks great and is easy to see and read. Thanks in advance.
  22. 2 hours per mission... 18? missions... replay half of them at least once... That's 54 hours of gameplay. Even if the campaign was $20, that's still paying less than $1 per hour for entertainment which is unbelievable nowadays. Kudos and a big thank you to the guys who make this possible for us! As a family of 5, I can't even seem to even leave the house without returning $100 poorer. Life is expensive. DCS and all its DLC are a super bargain, which is why we want to keep throwing money at the developers even if we don't plan to use the content anytime soon. I'm sure they need people like us just like we need people like them. On another note, any updates on when the new DCS stable update will come around to allow TEW 3.0?
  23. Absolutely, as stated above. Everything became easier for me with markpoints especially keeping track of moving targets. I would drop a markpoint on the moving target every minute or two so that I could keep track of where they were and which way they were moving. I had to do this at the very beginning because I would always lose sight of them before I could release a weapon. I would either get gimbal locked, or switchology was incorrect, or forgot to turn on EO 3 minutes prior, etc. Slaving TGP to the last known location made it much quicker to re-engage the target. I’m just finally starting to get multiple weapons off in a single pass, but still haven’t perfected it. Also, if you have to dive above and below the cloud layer, dropping a markpoint at a safe spot that is clear of terrain is very useful so you know where you can dive safely. Anyone have other good tips for markpoints?
  24. This must be specific to the Explorer? I’ve never had to touch the IPD setting. It is unchecked. I have the Rift. The scale feels very realistic to me. Everything in the right spot. I have the Warthog HOTAS and if I look at the throttle and then move the Rift up and down repeatedly so that my eyes see VR, reality, VR, reality, and so on... then there is no difference in appearance, location or size other than the obvious digital vs actual look. It’s crazy.
