I have a truck that goes along the road with 8 waypoints. Is there a way to get the truck to stop for 1-2 minutes at one of the middle waypoints before continuing? Next question: When the truck is temporarily stopped, I want to have a passenger hop into the truck. Can this be done, or do I need to have the passenger walk up to the truck then despawn him? Also, can I make the driver get out of the truck once reaching the DP, and walk along a path?

Just finished listening to your interview earlier today and I have finally opened up the mission editor tonight and am attempting to give this mission creation thing a shot. Thanks for the inspiration.

Happens to me too sometimes. Just slew it any direction in the tiniest amount then either reslave it, or immediately press TMS up short to try to obtain the lock before the crosshairs get too far off the target. I’ve always been curious if this is a bug, but never pursued asking because it’s an easy workaround as I mentioned above. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Raven One: upcoming DLC campaign for F/A-18 Hornet
GTFreeFlyer replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Damnit. Now I will need to spend more money. :) I really like the idea of bringing a book to life in an interactive sim. That’s genius. However, whenever they make movies from books everyone always says the book was better. There’s your goal... make the DLC campaign better :) Now this gets me thinking... If they only had the B-25 and I could be Yossarian with some comical airmen throwing Nately’s “girl” out the plane because we just can’t stand her... maybe in the near future... “Catch 22” for those of you who haven’t read the classic yet. -
I think what you really want is a TrackIR along with some regular video goggles, like what the RC guys use when flying FPV. I'm not quite sure how many people would buy such an immersion-providing device to use it for non-immersive purposes. Alternatively, you can start daily neck muscle stretching routines :) Also, try using your torso in conjunction with your neck. If you throw your shoulders into it a little bit, you can easily check your 6.

Solve the problem with a simple web search. It's been discussed a bunch of times... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1142155%23post1142155

Mission 5 - Hammerfall 1
GTFreeFlyer replied to GTFreeFlyer's topic in A-10C The Enemy Within Campaign 3.0
Thanks Yurgon! -
Just a quick question here about some lingo. In route to the target and upon checking in with Hunter, he mentions he is “Lima Charlie”. What is this? This was a nice easy mission, except the first time around I went heads down in the cockpit with autopilot on and a steep bank angle, then I noticed some movement in my peripheral vision a minute later, quickly looked up just as I collided head-on with my wingman. Not good. That was wild in VR.

Well, I was enjoying some free flight yesterday and decided to hang out inverted for the first time. After 5-10 seconds of flying inverted, both engines quit. So what exactly are the fuel boost pumps doing? I wasn’t expecting this at all. I know this would happen in the Cessna 152 I fly IRL, but in an A-10? I couldn’t get them restarted after trying a few things.
-
Same with me. Never had a problem until I tried a VR roller coaster. Anything with turning will get me. However it is different with planes, probably because you are banked while turning? Either way, why ride a roller coaster when you’ve got A-10’s, F-18’s, etc, all waiting for you?
-
I agree. I actually enjoy the whole start-up procedure. It gets me in the mood and mindset. Exception would be a scramble where ground crew has the plane running and ready for you.

When I go to eat Sushi, I always ask for extra ginger and bring it home with me, lol.

Search for “Spotting mod for VR users” or something like that. It’s the same dot label, but appears at much more realistic distances. It’s hardly detectable at all, but just enough to make it seem realistic. You’ll have to play around with the LUA file a little to enable it for ground targets as well, or I suppose I can send you mine if you want to try it out even though I’m still tweaking it to be just right. It’s pretty good right now. Highly recommend.

Awesome. Can’t wait.

Also, while the exhaust is a likely place, it isn’t the only one. Look at what happens when a heavy is landing with full flaps on a humid day. The high pressure air under the flap that makes its way outboard along the flap suddenly escapes at the inboard end of the aileron, expands and cools, and creates a short-lived contrail, mostly a spinning vortex.
-
I think you answered your question in your first post. Different engines. Contrails form with the correct combination of air pressure, temperature and humidity. The exhaust from an air-breathing turbojet/turbofan is vastly different than solid/liquid propulsion missles. Your air-breathing engines have very hot and high pressure air coming out of them that rapidly expands and cools down. Fill up a balloon with your warm breath and pop it outside where the air is cool and you’ll see a quick “cloud” appear. It’s thermodynamics at work.

Looping or rolling never got me. It’s the yawing that got me at first, but I’m now used to it. Flying around in coordinated flight never bothered me, but when stepping on rudder pedals to slip or skid, that slight “spinning” motion made me feel a little queasy. The worst for me was turning while taxiing, and also the moment the plane comes to a stop in the ground because the nose does that quick dip and pop back up motion. After 2-3 weeks of occasionally playing maybe 3 times per week, it’s completely gone now. You learn the maneuvers that make you uncomfortable and just close your eyes at first taking very quick glances so that you see a series of still pictures rather than the motion. That’s one trick. Just give it time and you’ll be fine too. The body adapts to anything. Just start playing as long as you can at first, then slowly increase it by a few minutes at a time each gaming session. Don’t go straight into a 4-hour mission and you’ll soon be calling it DR... desired reality.

We all know the AI wingman aren’t great and there’s nothing campaign designers can do about that now. My question is: When I use the radio menu to tell the wingman to attack something that is clearly visible, I often get the response, “2, rejoin....2, RTB”. What is the AI trying to tell me here and how do I work around it? Is it telling me he doesn’t have a visual, out of ammo, didn’t like the attack direction assigned to him, something else? I make sure my SPI broadcast is on, but I’m not sure if this actually matters or not. Often I try to tell him to re-engage from a different angle, but get the same response. Surely there’s a way to trick the AI into doing what you want, but I can’t seem to figure it out. What tips do you have that have worked for you? Usually I’m the one that is unable to hit targets, lol, so having two planes in the air unable to hit targets is quite the comedy show late at night in my house. I’m asking in the forum because you’re probably in the same situation as me with identical missions, wingmen, and targets. Thanks.

I love playing your campaigns and love the hours of entertainment it brings. I have one suggestion for your future campaigns since whatever they may be, I'll probably buy them. Try to mix up the lengths of the missions throughout the campaign, sort of like how a golf course mixes up Par 3's, 4's, and 5's. I've noticed that each time I play TEW 2.2 or 3.0, it's a minimum 2 hours I can expect to play a mission. Like I said, it's all very enjoyable, but it sure would be nice to play some missions that are less than 1 hour long, like takeoff, hit the known assigned target, and RTB. I'm only saying this because when I don't have 2 hours to play, I end up playing boring instant action missions, or perhaps I fire up a different game altogether. I'd much rather be playing your campaign :) I would get equal enjoyment from a mission whether I take out one target or ten. For me, the satisfaction comes after landing knowing the mission was a success. There's little satisfaction for me during the missions, regardless of the amount of targets, because my adrenaline is up and I'm focused and very busy on the mission and situational awareness, especially with the 2000+ voiceovers which is incredible! Once I land with a successful mission, the satisfaction kicks in. Disclaimer: I haven't quite finished TEW yet, but I'm seeing the trend and only assuming the remainder missions are also 2 hours each. Thanks a bunch.

I just played M04. The kneeboard shows laser code 1699 which caught my eye at the beginning (not the usual 1688). I thought we'd be hitting some lased targets here. Anyway, if you try to enter 1699, the CDU tells you "Laser Des Code Invalid" Good mission overall.

Use the pinky lever on the stick as a modifier and you’ve now just doubled the amount of buttons available to you. Lever+China hat forward is my VR zoom. Lever+landing gear silence button is my landing gear up/down. Possibilities are endless, well... almost.

BUILDING NEW PC SEEKING OPINIONS
GTFreeFlyer replied to ZQuickSilverZ's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks. That was plenty of great information. I got same day shipping from Amazon and already have the extra 16GB added now. I'm now at 32 :) -
Absolutely. That’s better than the twist handle anyway :).

Hmmm, you’re going to have to expedite that computer build you’re working on!

Sale has ended again. I did receive an email just now saying they were out of stock when I had placed my order, but looks like they are still honoring it and will ship when they have them in stock again.
