  2. Why would you text your CPG? You have an intercom. The apache net supports text messages among a great many other things, yes. Not sure if DCS will implement that.
  3. I'm aware of that. The issue is that it's not working in multicrew right now. I was hoping for something less manual anyway.
  4. You can put the turn off the safety. You can pull the trigger. But you can't blow a hole in the roof! Let us charge the gun so we can shoot up the cockpit from inside.
  5. It's nice. For me it was easy to use the avionics and systems. Everything just makes sense. Flying is rather difficult, as it's my first helicopter that requires significant rudder work. I'll get used to it. It has a lot of bugs though, in particular with multiplayer and especially with multicrew syncing, especially the TADS, the laser and some minor other things.
  6. Even tank sights have stabilization though. And tank commanders and gunners use their sights to stare at a general area and look for targets (while also slewing left and right to scan a larger area). Of course they also use them for engagement, at least the gunner sight.
  7. Will that be a future function? Right now it's just plain hard to keep track on a target unless the pilot is really good at a stable flight and even then it's a bit of a strain. I still don't know what IAT (image auto track) is supposed to do. From what I gather from the name i Imagine it's some kind of point/auto track, as known from the A10/Hornet. I don't see why such a really useful and software only upgrade should not be available to the ah64.
  8. Is there an option to ground stabilize the TADS? I have the thumb force controller bound to my joystick axis because I don't have anything else that makes sense and I have to deflect it really hard, like 70% just to keep the TADS stable on target. it's a bit hard on the wrist. Is there something I can press to ground stabilize the thing? Target lase and store works but it's not exactly accurate enough to shoot a missile at.
  9. The only issue I have found is that sometimes I need to tell him to shoot something 5 times in a row before he actually fires off a missile. And I do wait like 10 seconds for him to do stuff. He says "Engaging" but nothing actually happens. Maybe I'm just too whack of a pilot though and he needs me to be stable for a bit.
  10. What are the functions for the trigger first and second detents? Pilot cyclic trigger first detent seems weapon release. what's the second detent for? CPG left trigger first detent seems to be weapon release. What's the second detent for? CPG right trigger first detent seems to be laser ranging, second detent seems to be laser designating. But second detent short apears to also work as ranging. Is there a reason to map the extra button for first detent if you're short on buttons or free butons are in weird, unintuitive locations?
  11. works fine for me, unless you have that laser issue. the laser issue is sporradic, as in it appears or it doesn't when you join the aircraft, after that it either works or doesn't until you rejoin. Make sure you have master arm on, gun selected, tads as active sight and good ranging. Left hand grip trigger is weapon release
  12. The windshield wiper switch PARK position should be spring loaded back to off and needs to be held in the PARK position until the wiper is stowed. Currently PARK is a permanent position.
  13. That worked. even works while trackir is up. normal head movement does not, weirdly.
  14. Was flying along happily as CPG when suddenly I got rotor break lock caution in flight. Pilot confirmed rotor break was off. Toggling on and off fixed it.
  15. Had a similar issue, would get random engine 1+2 out, rotor rpm low indications, power was cut.
  16. When in multicrew, the boresight alignment reticle doesn't illuminate when selecting Boresight -> IHADS
  17. More serious than i thought. My head tracking is emulating trackir with open track. when enabled once, i can not longer control the head position with the mouse, even when disabling opentrack, because DCS thinks a head tracker is attached. I disabled translation axis by clearing the trackir axis commands. I still can not move my head with Alt+C, MMB + mouse move. Workaround is to completely disable the trackir controller, then enabling mouse look mode, and moving the head.
  18. When playing as CPG in multicrew, I got shot dead. Pilot landed and repaired the aircraft. This allowed me to look around again. But I can not press any buttons, knobs or open the canopy, operate the radio, etc.
  19. I do not have a 6 DOF head tracking device. To align the HDU boresight I need to move my head from the default head position vertically. It would be much nicer if it were in the right place and you could just rotate your head into the right place, especially since the default position is so close already.

  21. What does Image Auto Track/Offset do? Currently it seems like it is not working as the button simply does nothing. I was hoping for some kind of point track or ground stabilizing feature. I read the entry on it in the quick start handbook, but I can't make sense of it. What is offset tracking, why would you use it. What's a primary or secondary track. What's a track in the first place? The manual just throws those words around as if they've been explained elsewhere already.
  22. While flying on a rather cramped multiplayer server with a friend, I was in the CPG seat. There was a stutter and afterwards master caution lit up and I got engine 1 out, engine 2 out and rotor rpm low. Power to the displays failed and the rotor slowed down visually. The pilot did not notice anything of the sort and kept on flying as if nothing was wrong. Selecting role, going to spectator and rejoining the cockpit fixed the issue.
  23. Not sure if related but when I fired missiles, they would connect directly on an m113 with a vulcan air defense gun. A nearby infantry unit died, but the vulcan did not. maybe more laser problems.
