  1. Even with VR, sometimes I lose sight. Lose sight, lose the fight for sure. Padlocking would be, in my humble opinion, more of a cheat as you'll never lose sight. I don't think some of the off-brand "TrackIR-like" devices are that expensive. Definitely worth getting something!
  2. No worries, thanks!
  3. Cool, and congrats! I clicked the "Register" tab, put in all my info, and then as I was clicking "submit" my eyes left the data fields and saw the "Not operational yet" message, lol. I was a little too quick there. :D
  4. As Baldrick said, "difficult times." Amazon said a while back that they are prioritizing shipping (US anyway) for the necessities, like medical supplies, toilet paper (WTH, people?!), etc. As a result, ship times for normal Amazon Prime stuff gets pushed back. We occasionally receive some things quickly, but it's probably because it was stocked in a warehouse closer to us. I have just come to expect that their standard Prime shipping will not be as fast on a lot of what we order, and it is just that. Unfortunately, that's just how it is right now. Things will eventually get back to normal. Waiting sucks, I know, but not much they can do about it once they get it shipped out. If it's lost in-transit, it's not really their fault...sucks they still made you pay next day shipping though! And no, I don't work for Amazon, nor any shipping companies, lol.
  5. I take it this is overclocking software? I'll share with you the adventures this noob experienced with software OC'ing, and how I learned that it is never advisable to OC with software, lol. :D I found some Intel overclock app and thought, "wow, if Intel made an overclock app for their own chips, then it must be good, right?!" Wrong, lol. Somehow, my PC did not like the OC it applied, so it crashed, as would be expected. Well, once I was able to boot back to the desktop, as soon as the software applied the OC, crash. Rinse, and repeat. I had roughly 4-5 seconds of time at the desktop before there was a crash, and there was nothing I could do about it except delete the software. Now, the problem should have ended right there. Boot to Safe Mode, delete the app, and go on with life. This part probably wouldn't apply to you, but for some reason, Windows stopped recognizing my password as well, and I could not get into Safe Mode no matter what I tried. I couldn't use ANY repair tools, for that matter, either. Ended up getting a guy I fly with, who is really good with PCs, to help. We essentially hacked my computer and got me into Safe Mode, where I deleted the app and went on with life. I have since learned how to OC within the BIOS, and now I completely understand why people say to avoid software overclocking tools. I would really, really avoid those, lol. Again, I'm a noob to this stuff, and learning how to do it in the BIOS was actually pretty easy. Lots of guides and YouTube tutorials around to help. ETA: I have not watched this, but I just typed your MoBo and "overclock" into YouTube search, and found this:
  6. That's gonna be a great machine! You'll love it. Congrats!
  7. Agreed, definitely a good CPU, but overkill for DCS. Really just throwing money away on it. Spend the money on one of the other processors and throw the savings at something else...maybe 32 GB RAM?
  8. Do you plan to do anything else with the PC that would require a lot of CPU cores? As DCS really only needs one or two fast cores, you could save ~$180 over the 9700k by going to the 9600k. I know you're not even set with a parts list (as you're asking), but thought I'd mention that as the 9700k was thrown out there (a good suggestion!).
  9. Ah thanks! I have a beast of a machine, but never updated my old 1080p monitor since I only play in VR. I've gotten into recording a bit over the last several months, and that resolution is really depressing now, lol.
  10. LOVE the video! Well done! What resolution is your Mirror?
  11. Read my last post (few posts back).
  12. I think there's also some bug with DCS/the server/scripting that shows a lot of bad info, like team killing, for example. There are lots of times when I'm credited with kills....but I'm a spectator. There are times when I have "shot down" friendlies....but I'm a spectator. There are times when I have "shot down" a friendly in the missile area....but I'm in 1v1. Happens a lot. I also see others listed as the one who just shot down the guy that I did. What really sucks is getting kicked by the guy who got shot down. All he sees is that "so-and-so shot you down," but he don't look (shouldn't have to, stupid glitch) at what area the guy is in. I've been kicked for a team kill when I wasn't even in the same area, let alone didn't even shoot the guy. Hope that mess gets sorted out. Edit: You are right though that there are times when I've had friendlies gun me down. Must be blind, or just don't have labels on (a must for this server). But 90% of the time I see the above problems and suspect that may be what you're seeing as well.
  13. Disregard, figured it out! Simple once I looked at the Lua long enough. For anyone else in this dilemma, I just made another DDS file of the bort numbers, but made it with white numbers. I renamed the lines in the Lua file with that new bort number file name, and done!
  14. Hey guys, I have a skin that has black paint on the tips of the vertical stabs. I'm guessing there's a way to have those bort numbers up there display as white paint, but I don't know where to start in the file. Can anyone give me a hand? Which lines, what to change, etc. Thanks!
  15. Great video! Love the shots when it's all sped up, lol.
  16. On a similar subject, it would be nice to have another 1v1 area. Lately there have been a lot of people tying up the slots and not even flying, or they'll grab a slot and take the plane way off to the middle of nowhere.
  17. Way to go, GT! Good to see you getting this released to the public!
  18. Glad you got it all sorted out!
  19. I considered that and suppose it's possible, but I'm pretty darn sure that's what I was looking at. In fact, I feel like when I saw it I looked back at AOA (since they're one on top of another, IIRC) to make sure I saw what I saw! lol
  20. That's good. I wonder if it was just a bug or something at that moment, because I've never seen it before.
  21. You bet!
  22. When spectating, press L Ctrl + Y and you'll bring up the info strip...player name, speed, altitude, G-load, AOA, engine RPM, etc. All that stuff. I always pull that up while spectating; good stuff.
