  1. I have no idea if what I did is correct or not for my issue, but I posted mine problem in Game Performance and never received any replies. Like you, I lost a lot of VR FPS performance here recently and made no changes to my PC, DCS settings, drivers...nothing. Great one day, bad the next... My specs are: 9600k @ 5.1 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 2080 Ti, Rift S. My performance has always been super smooth on high settings (shadows low). I could always fly, record and play music and have a great VR experience, but then I started getting horrible stutters out of nowhere. I stopped recording, stopped the music; tried changing/reducing DCS settings, deleting the shaders/files mentioned above, went thru the Optimization Guides (again), Windows settings, everything I could think of, but nothing worked at all. One day I started reading thru my log file, which makes 99% zero sense to me because I'm not smart with that stuff, ha, but I noticed lines saying something like "(example) the 28 FPS would have been 45 FPS if TacView was not recording." Something like that. I started searching old TacView threads and found one that said there was a bug with the export a while back, so I figured I would try disabling TacView recording. My performance has been super smooth again ever since. I can play in VR, record while in VR, play music the whole time, all at my high settings and all is well again, just like before. Again, I don't know if it's a "thing" as no one replied, but it worked for me it seems. Maybe give it a shot?
  2. Hey Flighter, any chance you can push the mission start time back at least an hour or so? When the mission restarts, 1v1 Area 3 is dark. However, if this is by design and on purpose, no worries.
  3. Been following the other recent threads about VR FPS loss, and I also just found this thread. https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/englis...tacview-enable I've experienced the same poor frame rates after that last big Hornet update a few weeks ago. My temporary solution, when nothing else worked, was to deleted my Saved Games folder and start again. That worked and all my low FPS issues cleared up. I flew around for several days completely fine until I realized TacView wasn't recording (was removed/not linked). I ended up installing TacView again and once it was installed my FPS issues came back, if I remember the timeline right, but it seems to fit. I never knew about this issue in the past, but reading my latest dcs.log gave me an idea to research. Maybe this is normal? I just grabbed one random section of the log to paste: 2020-11-23 22:42:05.040 INFO TACVIEW.DLL: During the last 61.4s an average of 65 units objects and 3 ballistic objects have been active per frame 2020-11-23 22:42:05.040 INFO TACVIEW.DLL: The average frame rate of 34.6fps would have been 39.3fps if the flight data recorder was disabled 2020-11-23 22:42:05.040 INFO TACVIEW.DLL: DCS World simulation is taking 87.8% of CPU 2020-11-23 22:42:05.040 INFO TACVIEW.DLL: DCS GetWorldObjects is taking 12.0% of CPU 2020-11-23 22:42:05.040 INFO TACVIEW.DLL: Tacview recorder is taking 0.1% of CPU My specs: i5-9600K @ 5.1 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 2080 Ti, Rift S. I launch VR/DCS with Oculus Tray Tool. PD in-game at 0.5, and 1.4 - 1.6 in OTT (been playing with settings). Also been thru various optimization guides here, and have tried/confirmed settings recommended in the other current VR and FPS performance issues threads. Also tried adjusting DCS graphics settings, but nothing made a difference. I've always had a super smooth experience in VR up until recently. My VR stays locked 90% of the time at 40 FPS, but will run 80 in sparse areas like NTTR in the middle of nowhere. That clip of the log, which I'll attach, was from the Just Dogfight server (Caucasus) in a 1v1 area. It normally runs 40 FPS all the time, but has been consistently dropping down to 20-22 lately. I didn't make any PC or DCS changes at all before that one DCS OB update. Performance was fine, did the update, then performance got terrible with no changes made anywhere. Just curious what you all think; I'm not good with all of this, so it may be a wild goose chase! Thanks! Edit: Forgot to say I learned the previous TacView issues only last night, so I haven't been able to test it w/o TacView installed/running. Gonna do that today. Will report back if I notice any change! Edit2: Been able to play a bit on JDF and it's much smoother, though not as good as it had been. Also, takes foreeeever to load/change slots. dcs.log
  4. Where did BigNewy say it was our fault???
  5. Hey guys, my VR performance also took a huge dump after that last big update a few weeks ago. I made exactly zero changes to my PC, Windows settings, or DCS settings prior to the update. Everything always ran very smooth; I could always play Spotify, and record with OBS and Oculus Mirror just fine while playing, but I suddenly started having FPS drops down into the mid-teens after that update. I tried changing all kinds of settings in DCS, Windows, tried deleting metashader2/fxo folders, DCS repair, and more. Nothing worked. Finally, I tried deleting my Saved Games folder (backed up important stuff, like control binds, etc) and ran the game. It seems to have cleared things up completely. I've been testing it on my single-player BFM mission with just DCS, and then with DCS, OBS, and Spotify running/recording...game's running really smoothly again. Maybe it's worth a shot for you guys? Specs: i5-9600K (@ 5.1 GHz), 32 GB RAM, 2080 Ti, Rift S. Maps were Caucasus (multiplayer Just Dogfight) and NTTR/PG single-player BFM missions I made. Edit: Forgot to say I really don't have any mods, and those that I do have are on OvGME.
  6. Where did the JDF website forum go? I know it wasn't terribly active, but I check it about every day.
  7. My performance took a hit at this last update as well, but I'm in VR. 9600k @ 5.0 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 2080 Ti, Rift S. Always had smooth performance, but it's real choppy in flight now and takes a while to load the game and aircraft slot. Always been able to run most settings on High, but have tried dropping them down here and there to find a solution and nothing seems to be working at the moment. Edit: Should have added this was low altitude on NTTR.
  8. +1 on the Cat.
  9. Guys, I've been trying to help him via PM. I threw together a quick build (didn't check for compatibility yet i.e. dimensions, fit, etc) only to get a rough ballpark for him. I based it on an i5-9600K, 32 GB DDR4 3200, and an RTX 2080 Super. Put a Noctua cooler on it, an MSI Z390 Gaming Edge MoBo, and a 650W Gold Coolermaster PSU. Came out to ~$1680. I don't know anything about Ryzen's lineup, but I know a lot of you do. I know there could be more savings there. Any chance you could throw a parts list together to hit ~$1500-1600 (leaving $400ish for VR)? Also, a pre-built PC may be beneficial as well.
  10. Good job! Funny, I have a similar video, same some pretty much wrapped up. Just need a few more edits. We have similar tastes!
  11. I accidentally did the same and couldn't figure out how to get it back either. I have VR, so I opened DCS in VR and was able to change it back that way.
  12. Wouldn't be as big of an issue if we could put our hand over the DDI to cover it from the sun, lol. So many times I've reached my hand out in VR and remembered, "Oh yeah, right." :D
  13. Another +1. Daytime, approaching carrier from behind. All static Hornet's red a/c lights are big glowing balls of red. Also had some static red shirts that were doing the same. (Using VR)
  14. Not sure about your TMWH question, but I use OBS for recording (free, if I remember right). There are some good tutorials for setting it up to record DCS. I know Jabbers has a video about "All Things VR," or something like that. Rod White also has a video (think it was him) about setting up Oculus Mirror to record with, and that's the way I went. I get much better quality that way, and haven't noticed a hit on performance.
  15. Hmm, I use OBS to record and don't have that issue at all. Unfortunately, I have no advice or help to offer, but interested to see if others have any ideas. Sorry, man!
  16. Is there a way to increase/decrease camera altitude without changing the view "spot" with the mouse? Meaning, I want the camera to travel in a straight line, and then increase/decrease altitude (like a helicopter) while still looking straight ahead.
  17. Sorry, was referencing/quoting your post (bold) as it was relevant, but thanks anyway.
  18. Anyone know if they got MOOSE working for 2.5.6 yet? (Thanks for the link, Pikey.) I need an A2A AI script.
  19. Even with VR, sometimes I lose sight. Lose sight, lose the fight for sure. Padlocking would be, in my humble opinion, more of a cheat as you'll never lose sight. I don't think some of the off-brand "TrackIR-like" devices are that expensive. Definitely worth getting something!
  20. No worries, thanks!
  21. Cool, and congrats! I clicked the "Register" tab, put in all my info, and then as I was clicking "submit" my eyes left the data fields and saw the "Not operational yet" message, lol. I was a little too quick there. :D
  22. As Baldrick said, "difficult times." Amazon said a while back that they are prioritizing shipping (US anyway) for the necessities, like medical supplies, toilet paper (WTH, people?!), etc. As a result, ship times for normal Amazon Prime stuff gets pushed back. We occasionally receive some things quickly, but it's probably because it was stocked in a warehouse closer to us. I have just come to expect that their standard Prime shipping will not be as fast on a lot of what we order, and it is just that. Unfortunately, that's just how it is right now. Things will eventually get back to normal. Waiting sucks, I know, but not much they can do about it once they get it shipped out. If it's lost in-transit, it's not really their fault...sucks they still made you pay next day shipping though! And no, I don't work for Amazon, nor any shipping companies, lol.
  23. I take it this is overclocking software? I'll share with you the adventures this noob experienced with software OC'ing, and how I learned that it is never advisable to OC with software, lol. :D I found some Intel overclock app and thought, "wow, if Intel made an overclock app for their own chips, then it must be good, right?!" Wrong, lol. Somehow, my PC did not like the OC it applied, so it crashed, as would be expected. Well, once I was able to boot back to the desktop, as soon as the software applied the OC, crash. Rinse, and repeat. I had roughly 4-5 seconds of time at the desktop before there was a crash, and there was nothing I could do about it except delete the software. Now, the problem should have ended right there. Boot to Safe Mode, delete the app, and go on with life. This part probably wouldn't apply to you, but for some reason, Windows stopped recognizing my password as well, and I could not get into Safe Mode no matter what I tried. I couldn't use ANY repair tools, for that matter, either. Ended up getting a guy I fly with, who is really good with PCs, to help. We essentially hacked my computer and got me into Safe Mode, where I deleted the app and went on with life. I have since learned how to OC within the BIOS, and now I completely understand why people say to avoid software overclocking tools. I would really, really avoid those, lol. Again, I'm a noob to this stuff, and learning how to do it in the BIOS was actually pretty easy. Lots of guides and YouTube tutorials around to help. ETA: I have not watched this, but I just typed your MoBo and "overclock" into YouTube search, and found this:
