[FALSE POSITIVE]DCS World 2.6 trojan? worldgeneral.dll
Whiskey11 replied to NaOH1's topic in General Bugs
I got the same from Malwarebytes Premium as well... which auto quarantined it... I unquarantined it and did a DCS repair, tried to quarantine it again so I disabled Malwarebytes! That'll teach em! :D -
Is there any way you could poke the powers that be to let us see the list of bugs with the Multicrew so we don't double report? For instance, we had an issue on a server (probably not setup correctly for it) where my copilot was able to fire the miniguns and I could not see him firing the miniguns using the flexible mount. We swapped places and he couldn't see me firing the flexible mount miniguns and they weren't tracking my head movements.

The Phoenix should not be able to turn that well...

Since you are being excessively pedantic, allow me to retort in the most pedantic way possible. What information is available on the chase aircraft? You claim it's going Mach 2, but is it? Where is the flight data recording for it? How do you know the camera isn't auto zooming while it tracks the missile? There are no references until it hits the drone, it could be zooming in (indicating that it isn't able to keep up at all). I'm also not sure I'd call a tail chase an optimal scenario... The missile bleeds energy in a tail chase much faster due to the lower aspect ratio of the aircraft and has to cover more distance to get there. It's a forced pursuit intercept profile. The AIM54 doesn't have a huge smoke plume by the time it reaches targets at 25 nmi... the motor only burns for 30s, and anything else is going to be condensation based contrailing. Launching at 40nmi, I doubt you'd visibly see the contrail and the only way you'd know the missile was inbound was in the last 10nmi or so of flight when the active. -

I can appreciate your frustration as I also share it... understand though, that the reason these conversations keep coming up is because people believe the F-14 is less capable than it was... That sounds like bragging or egoism about a specific airframe, but the reality is the F-14 was so far ahead of its time that it continues to STILL be relevant. The threat from outdated and barely functional F-14A's exported to Iran STILL dominates what information can be released about an aircraft designed and built in the 1970's. Grumman was green lit to build a super aircraft and they delivered the F-14A under circumstances that would have had most aero companies begging for more funding. And they did it under adversity too by being saddled with limited computer technology and those god forsaken TF30 engines. I legitimately believe that this argument keeps occuring because people struggle to believe such an aircraft is still viable. Usually, the give away is the statement "if it was so awesome, why'd they cancel it?" while ignoring the politics surrounding it's cancellation. Had Grumman been given the go ahead on the ASF-14 program, the whole Super Hornet program would never occurred and the F-35's advanced avionics wouldn't appear so revolutionary... -
Ehhhh... the F16A was not multi role... it was designed as a replacement for the F5 to sell to NATO countries to operate as a day only air superiority fighter. In a lot of ways the Hornet is the navy equal but the navy intended to use their F/A18A Hornets. The airforce wanted next to nothing to do with the F16 until budget cuts forced them to consider the cheaper aircraft to maintain fighter numbers when they couldn't procure anymore eagles. Both evolved, at considerable tax payer expense into more refined multi role aircraft. I imagine that had the super Hornet budget gone to the super Tomcat instead, the Tomcat would have matured and evolved quite nicely too... but politicians and their pet companies combined with an aging fleet of tomcats meant someone wanted their pet company to get a pet contract to un screw up the Hornet while hanging up the better aircraft rather than putting money into them.

Not... yet... TWS Auto is WIP and Jester presently does not automatically pan or change the elevation of the radar's scan range... once he does, it should be a much better experience to fly intercept missions. TWS Auto is also not implemented for human RIO's either. :( As with all early access things... Soon

The A's had less thrust than the B and D models do which in theory would translate to worse performance in BFM since maintaining energy in a steady state corner would have a wider turn radius due to less G and AoA available. In other words, the F110's could overpower more AoA and provide much better energy management while turning. IIRC, the TF30 consumed less fuel in afterburner, but don't quote me on that. That said... I forget which SME it was, but they said they actually fared better in the A than the B because the A had a "set and forget" throttle setting in BFM where the B required more conscious effort to not add too much energy coming "down the hill" in a vertical fight.
-
The value argument gets even better considering this is actually TWO aircraft for the cost, PLUS a carrier module, a campaign..... and so on. Hard to not justify it IMO!
-
Victory flew the Tomcat in real life (IIRC)... I think he qualifies as a SME on whether or not the double D pattern existed or not....

The MH has performed significantly better for me than the standard M has in terms of guidance and ramming them down MiG 28's, MiG 21's and MiG 23's on Through the Inferno (AI aircraft)... the- M, even at sub 5nmi range was a roll of the dice if it'd track even if Jester didn't lose the lock. The -MH has been VERY reliable... of the 2-6 loadout I had when just messing around last night, 4 of the 6 -MH's found targets and both AIM9M's found theirs, although the MiG 28 survived it somehow and I had to switch to guns to finish him. It was far more productive than my usual 2 of 6 -M's and both 9's finding targets. Launch envelope remains unchanged... heads up about 15nmi at 30k feet. Rocket motor usually dies about 2-3 seconds before impact. The M's just seem to drop the radar beam so much easier than the MH. I'm also not sure the MH lofts all that much on the F-14, if at all... it has to be specifically set to loft on the Hornet... not sure if the F-14 has that ability or not. Either way, even the "fixed" -M seems really poor compared to the -MH. As for the more "feisty" targets like the Su's and MiG 29's... I generally let the horde of SPAMRAMMERS and YEET-54 launchers deal with them! I hunt for sport and the YEET-54 is like an easy button right now for nuking 4th Gen fighters. With the MH, I may get crafty and start going after the harder targets (if I can get to them before they get shot down).
-
Was the first that the AIM-7MH was coming to the Tomcat? Because that has excited me more than anything else... playing with it now and the 2xAIM-9M and 6xAIM-7MH has been a HUGE amount of fun!

For me it was Top Gun. Cliche I know. I first saw the opening scene of Top Gun when I was in second or third grade or so (in the 90's) while at my babysitter's house. I remember someone popping in the VHS and the opening scene just grabbed my attention. To this day, it's still an EPIC scene. As I grew older and I started getting heavily into aviation (somewhere around the 4th grade), in the Book Orders we could do for school, they had one of those thick heavy three ring binder thing with aircraft stat cards that you could "put together" year after year. I had to have it since the starter pack came with the F-14 card in it. I remember being fascinated by the capabilities of the aircraft. It wasn't until the end of highschool, the proliferation of the internet's vast information trove, that I really began to appreciate the aircraft and what it could accomplish. You know... the whole, for it's time, being able to launch six missiles and track them all and splash them from insane ranges. The Pilot/RIO interaction, the outstanding aircraft handling for an aircraft so massive. The fact it did so much in the age that predates anything resembling a modern computer. It BLOWS MY MIND to this day how capable the F-14A was in 1975 given the aircraft technology at the time. It STILL BLOWS MY MIND how capable the F-14B and -D are even today (if they were still flying). It pisses me off to no end that politics ended the career of what should be the "F-15 of the Navy"... the airframe that just never went away, but such is not life. My first F-14 "simulation" was a bootlegged copy of an Aerosoft F-14 for FSX. Was never big into flight simulation until college, but the F-14 does what she does. Captivates you! My forray into DCS didn't occur until Heatblur created THIS beauty of a trailer: From there, I got hooked... the deep dive into the F-14 Tomcat went into over drive. Now I started learning systems implementation, the "study level" of familiarity, in preparation for this epic bird. I regret nothing. I am continuously learning new things about the F-14 from everyone on these forums and it's like the worst crack addiction I've ever had! :D There is no other aircraft that has gripped me to quite this extent. Nothing comes close. This aircraft is what launched my obsession into all things aerospace, it's what put me on the path to becoming an aerospace engineer (which didn't happen, but regardless) and it continues to humble me to this day just how awesome an aircraft it is.

As someone who has done both front and back seat flying, I don't mind the RIO IFF situation at all... keep in mind, in real life, the RIO has two hands he can use. In DCS, we have one. He can have one hand on the Friendly/Neutral/Enemy buttons and another on the IFF button. He doesn't even have to look away from the DDD. We do... it makes things harder. And since that is his primary role in BVR, managing the radar, I don't see what the issue really is other than "it's old"... well yeah. Imagine if the F-14D program got fully fleshed out and a -E came out with something closer to that of the Hornet than the -B. It would have been a MONSTER aircraft with a properly designed FBW system with override switch... we never got to see it sadly. The reality is the F-14A and -B were monster aircraft that retained relevance into the modern world for far, far, far, far longer with NO significant modifications than any other aircraft in US inventory. The number of mid life upgrades to the F-14 program as a whole in her 31 years of service is like an eighth that of the Legacy Hornet... Just goes to show how far advanced the aircraft was when she entered service at the end of Vietnam... and to think the AWG-9 retained relevancy that long is just as impressive given how quickly EW moves to new radars.

Always the Cat! No reason to buy anything else afterwards! It does A2G, it does A2A, it does carrier landings, it's beautiful, it's not hampered by FBW technology constantly interfering, it's "old school". It offers a lot... except JHMCS, 9X, and some smart munitions (thanks Chenney) but it gains the most brokenly OP sub 30nmi missile in the game! Of the F/A-18C vs F-16C debate... the Hornet is, IMO, a better choice because it offers a wider array of mission subsets than the Viper does currently. It also offers the ability to land on the boat, which IS fun.

I'm not sure I want an AIM-7 variant on my bird any longer... seems that with Jester dropping locks all-the-time and the AIM-7's in general very lack luster performance, it seems like a waste to me to have a WORSE missile. I just launched an AIM 7M at two TU22's... the first one missed even though I was locked on all the way to the target. Switched to the second one and it hit but only because the TU22 turned directly towards me. In the past few days, I've been working on AIM7 deployments and have scored TWO kills against head on targets at sub 10nm ranges against AI. It's more efficient for me to carry 6 AIM54's than it is to use the AIM7 any longer.....

Just a day in the life of an A-10C pilot....
Whiskey11 replied to Whiskey11's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Certainly nothing some "high speed" tape can't fix! Got done with the repairs and couldn't help but stay singing this song: -
There must have been an update somewhere in either windows, or something else. I had the same problem and had to reset my T-Flight pedals to default in Windows to get them to STOP dragging.

:joystick: :pilotfly: You got it! :) I've returned home more times in an A-10C than I have in any other aircraft. Built like a tank! -
Some days in DCS are better than others... I was playing on the 107th Through the Inferno Server and this occurred! I had just gotten done dropping 16000 pounds of laser guided whoop butt and was on my way back when a lone MiG-21Bis made it through the CAP around the attack point and made a go at me. I turned to face the call out by AWACS, he was 8nmi out. Switched to the AIM-9's and lined up the shot... saw him, pulled the trigger and......... nothing.... crap, switched it back to SAFE on my way back to base (wasn't anticipating a surprise MiG-21Bis)... turned immediately and dumped chaff and flare... no joy, his missile found home. Well crap... I'm alive! Pull the Fire Ext handle on the left engine since she's fully burning. Hydraulics are up, fuel is staying up, power is up, and controls are responding... lets try and land this old girl! No flaps... but airbrakes. Gear is missing tires, so no point having them down. Gudata was about 35nmi away. Went to declare an emergency and the high band radio is down... well crap... Checked the radio stack and the low band is working, still chimed in on the ground attack channel. "Whiskey-1-1 radio check on 124" <silence... static... silence> <little more panicked> "Whiskey-1-1 radio check on 1-2-4" <crackle on the radio> "I read you 5 by 5 Whiskey 1-1" "Copy, my high band is down can you declare an emergency landing at Gudata for a bent A-10"? "Standby 1-1" <A few nervous moments pass while I'm quadruple checking instrumentation> "State your emergency again?" "I've taken a heater, down one engine, no flaps, no gear. Aircraft is responsive to input, good on hydraulics, good on fuel, no ordinance. Left Engine fire extinguished. Need priority landing at Gudata" "Wait one" <again nervously checking instrumentation to see if she'll make it> "Your emergency has been declared, god speed and good luck!" I began double checking the instrumentation and noticed that the HUD is all X'd out, basically useless... none of the manual gauges are reading except the right engine gauges (the good engine) and the vertical velocity gauge. No altitude, no airspeed, no bank/pitch/roll yaw... Guess we are landing this girl the hard way! Lined her up and declared on 124 again asking if they could declare my final. "Whiskey 1-1 requesting declare my final" "You got it!" After a few tense moments, airbrakes deployed, belly landed with minimal damage! Nothing some duct tape and spray paint can't fix! Thanks to [107th-R] Satchking 905 for the pictures!

The beauty of the Tomcat is in the challenge of flying it well... if you want something to challenge you, jump onto one of the various Guns Only dogfight server and practice combat maneuvering with her... she is VERY rewarding to fly well. But that said, she has a lot of multirole capability too... she can carry GBU's, she carries dumb bombs, she carries the longest range missile in the game, she carries rockets... use them! Sure, it's not as "engaging" as sitting at 25000 feet with a LITENING pod and dropping GBU's on target from the cockpit, but it certainly is engaging in other ways!

So I played around a bit more and it appears that my "issues" surrounding FPS is entirely related to Script Intensive MP servers like the 107th's Through the Inferno server... in SP, even most SP missions, the issue is nearly eliminated... I still get some ~30FPS drops when looking at the Stennis' Bridge in the F-14 (combination of RIO pit + Stennis wires probably) using the Stinger's PLAT CAM+LSO Landing mission but for the most part, it's 45 FPS or higher. Heck, doing some of the Huey missions was almost a nauseating experience because of how overly smooth things were. The Oil Rig landing mission... 60 FPS fairly consistently, but it's a simple mission in it's entirety with nothing running in the background. Jump onto TTI and it's back down into the mid 30's and upper 20's... Don't think there is much I can do about that sadly! :(

I'll look into the Process Lasso stuff. For now I'm looking at system usage stuff and NOTHING it's maxed. I have one CPU core hovering between 50-70% usage. That caused me to look at GPU usage, mostly hovering around 30%-40% usage with spikes into the 80s. Memory is mostly maxed out, but that isn't surprising. I'll go through and delete the "common" folders post patch and see what happens... not holding my breath for any improvements given the resource utilization oddity. Also dumped the game settings to the VR preset to see what would change and I see a drop in frame time but FPS still around 30 on the ground at Sochi on the 107th TTI server. Needless to say, this VR experience has been less than fun. The gains in immersion are almost not worth it...

Went ahead and tried those settings briefly on my rig. Still about 30FPS in the F14B on Through The Inferno MP server with Single Player being in the 40s. Rig: Intel 9900k OC'd to 5GHz all core (4.8 with AVX offset) MSI 2080 Seahawk EK OC'd (don't remember clock speed but memory is 8k mhz) 32gbb of DDR4 3400MHz RAM NVME SSD for install Headset is an O+ obviously. Would be nice to have that VR update.
