  1. It would be a big boost to immersion and a great way to improve DCS WWII if the CA JTAC feature could be adapted/modified as a Forward Observer role for WWII missions. This would ideally also include better representation of WWII binoculars/radio equipment ect...
  2. For me the issue is DCS itself starting up. I now get the DCS World startup screen for more than 5 min. In some cases, it never starts. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  3. LIke I said, your efforts would be better spent getting good working models of tracks, damage, armor, gun with accurate view ports at each station
  4. Has anyone else noticed what appears to be an increased level of detail for ground units? Have a look at the 1:49 in the timeline. The sound files have definitely been updated for this map.
  5. Wow, sounds ambitious. I would say this is likely a one-man project measured in years as opposed to months, but this would be one of the rare times I actually hope to be proven wrong. Regarding modeling the inside, I think your efforts would be better spent getting good working models of tracks, damage, armor, gun with accurate view ports at each station. For the commander, this would mean the cupola and the open hatch view with and without bino's.
  6. Agreed! As you suggested, I think it's a great invitation to expand interest in DCS WWII, and MP game play in general. One of the things that never ceases to amaze me about DCS World as a platform is the strength of its community. Thanks again to you and your group for all the dedication and hard work.
  7. I'm bumping this because its already Sunday. The add-on question is why isn't there a way to adjust brightness/contrast?
  8. +1 hopefully ED will add to the assets coming with the Corsair. A little odd that there has been no mention of infantry though.
  9. +1, and I would add ground units too.
  10. Kudos for the recon missions and giving the TF-51D a role on your server.
  11. One of the best reasons for jumping in your Yak52, or CEII to go exploring the islands. Never know, you might even spot the mystical Na'vi people worshiping Eywa!
  12. Yeah that will be pretty major in terms of DCS WWII, but if I am not mistaken I think ED has also announced assets for the coming Pacific Theater but don't have time to look for the past announcement at the moment. So hopefully M3 LLC is not alone in its efforts regarding assets/planned modules ect... What I am hoping we see more of is WWII ships with improved damage models. It would also make sense if they added Japanese infantry to the SIM, but at the same time we are so in need of more infantry types for all the represented nations. Just about the only thing I was disappointed about with the summer update is that the assets pictured are not manned.
  13. Excellent map suggestion IMO, especially N. Africa.
  14. Well said and I have to agree. But what doesn't shine through very well in @IcedVenom's post is that while there certainly are outstanding issues that have been discussed, the module as it stands today is very flyable and fun. If the desire is to learn how to fly and fight in a MiG 21, Magnitude 3 LLC has you covered. I think IcedVenom's post is proof of that. For anyone new to DCS, or just simply hasn't considered the MiG 21 yet shouldn't put too much weight on the fact that there are outstanding issues IMO. There is no shortage of YouTube videos showing off player skill using the module, and clearly the updates/fixes are planned. When I first came to DCS, the desire was to find a WWII themed ground combat simulator, but what made me discover DCS Combined Arms in the first place was all the coverage being done on Heatblur and the amazing work they pulled off with their F-14 Tomcat. I had no idea at that time about all the history behind the two Developers that eventually emerged, but it appears to me having both the MiG 21 and CEII that both teams are clearly made from the same stuff.
  15. The how-to explanation in the videos is really well done. Thanks.
  16. I get your request in support of the CEII, and have to say I agree because I think the CEII is really underappreciated. Even though DCS is a combat simulator doesn't mean everything has to go BOOM. The CEII is beautifully modeled and well worth the price considering the amount of fun it delivers on, and aside from its aerobatics role, it is also one of the best ways to explore map detail. Yes DCS is a combat simulator, but anyone really into the joy of flying will immediately notice the extra large portion the CEII serves up. And yes... Any and all improvements including sound detail to the CEII would be greatly appreciated by the community I am sure. That being said, the Mig21 is an important cog in the wheel here, and all one has to do is read this forum to get a better appreciation for just how well the much anticipated updates will be received. But I would even take this a step further and recommend anyone that hasn't already done so, should take the time to read and fully appreciate the summer update from Magnitude 3 LLC. It is obviously not just about the amount of work the very ambitious projects currently underway represent, it is about the level of quality and the attention to detail that is going into them.
  17. I think it goes without saying that before making a purchase, most are likely to consider things like quality, attention to detail, available features, and customer support as a way of comparing competing products. In case anyone here was still wondering... M3 LLC = "In recent months we have expanded our library, which now comprises twice as many manuals and technical documents as it originally did. This will allow us to simulate some of the systems in a manner not possible at a time the module was released. Furthermore, our head of the research department has taken a few trips to the museums in Poland and Germany to gather a large collection of pictures of the MiG-21s, with an intention to use them for recreation of the 3d model and textures through photogrammetry. There is no question, that in order to provide the best visual quality, we need to take advantage of all newest technologies. This technologies in turn give us an opportunity to turn things that were previously impossible, into a reality." = M3 LLC Enough said!
  18. What we have now is usable, but far from being perfectly fine IMO. I would like to see more accurate gun/armor models, more detailed DM for systems, better physics models for power train/tracks. I agree on not spending the time to model the interior, but more time should be put into making the view from each station more accurate like driver, gunner, commander cupola/open hatch ect...
  19. Not only that, but with a bit of imagination Combined Arms can be used as a really effective teaching tool even though it is geared toward controlling ground assets. Using it in tandem with the various options to facilitate group communications, CA can provide a great platform for teaching/demonstrating.
  20. I don't think, or maybe I should say I hope it doesn't have anything to do with ED not seeing any value in developing other aspects of DCS. I think it has more to do with the amount of time spent on task. I really hope they find a way to get more on top of the ground/sea aspects. I would really like to see them release a FF Abrams/T90 duo as a test. I am sure it would be successful and they would see the benefit to follow with other modules. But yes, ground/sea assets/modules deserve a lot more attention and could use a major update to textures and physics models. Spent nearly 3 hours last night playing with the Super Carrier after downloading the latest stable patch. A lot of fun just working with Ai! Anyone that hasn't picked the SC up yet should really give it some consideration, because it really is well worth the price. And I don't even own the F18/F14 yet!
  21. "A little more content would be welcome"... Yes let me count the ways!
  22. He's looking for a home... Anyone at ED interested in taking him in?
  23. He probably hasn't finished training in the Jug yet.
  24. This deserves a +1 just for making me chuckle. I bought it on sale as well, but then again, I am also buying more modules than I have time to learn at the moment just to support DCS. I will probably eventually collect the entire DCS World collection, so I don't mind saying I waited for a sale. I'm not sure a different pay structure would change much, and might even make things worse, but I completely agree with you that ED needs to find ways to decrease the amount of time it takes to address/update/patch issues. One way to tell where most of the effort is spent developing DCS World is jump in a vehicle to take a tour before you hit the runway in your favorite plane/jet/heli. But it does seem to be improving in bits and pieces though.
  25. What would be cool is if they expanded the Channel map and then adding Germany as a third map.
