I think the daytime lighting balance may have taken a step in the wrong direction in v2.5.6.49314. Nav lights on tankers are now impossible to miss at about half a mile in daytime. This is not the way airplanes look. In Nevada summer daylight you should barely be able to tell if the lights are on when you are right next to the aircraft. The new hornet strobe is a huge red flash in the daytime, again impossible to miss. Thats not the way airplanes look. First 30 seconds: Daytime intensities for multiple modules have been overdone for some time (Mi-8, UH-1, A-10 etc.) but the trend in recent modules seemed to be toward realism. Also, if the lights looked silly you can just run with them off. Unfortunately I don't believe you can turn off the tanker lights. One of the many pleasures of DCS is being able to take a screenshot that is indistinguishable from reality. That's impossible to do with glowing balls of plasma at each corner. If bling lighting is popular with users maybe there could be a switch in options for sim/cartoon external lighting. btw I'll probably contradict myself soon by asserting that all the operational lighting (PDL, PAPI, IFLOLS) needs to be turned up for functional reasons ;)

Minor documentation error. Supercarrier Operations Guide page 40 defines Case I weather minimums as "when the cloud deck is higher than 3,000 feet and visibility is greater than 5 miles" As written, if the weather is reported as 3000 or 5 case II should be in effect. I beleive the actual definition is: Case I weather requires the ceiling to be no lower than 3,000 feet and not less than 5 NM visibility. In other words, if weather is reported as 3000ft or 5 miles you are still Case I.

Yeah, works for me in both 2D overlay and 3D. Just hover over and roll the mouse wheel. In LoFi aircraft (Su25T/FC3) you have to LAlt+C for "Clickable mouse cockpit mode On/Off". I can't understand why "Open NS430 with LShift+LAlt+B" and "Enable Mouse Control with LAlt+C" are not the first sentence in the manual.

Good points, especially for 2D. I just find myself doing way more cockpit clicking than I've ever done before in VR.

Has anyone been able to effectively keybind the rotary knobs (right big, right small, etc)? They work fine with mouse control but when I press the bound key the jumps are so large that they are unusable.

Heatblur, please change this. It is super annoying. The likelihood of me needing quick access to landing gear emergency operation is vanishingly small. The likelihood of me screwing up my aircraft with this control bound to RMB is 100%.

Agreed, but the S-3 is a special case since you spend so much time 30ft away staring at it while you tank. It's good to hear that it's on the ED roadmap for an upgrade.

Too bad! These seem like a couple of very easy fixes for issues detracting from a fun module. (not a programmer btw, so I have no actual idea what “easy” is)

Also, the huge fixed helmet reflection in the rear cockpit glass divider needs to be removed entirely.

Have the same problem across multiple machines. Nvidia "override any application settings" has no effect. Only in game MSAA works.

Reflection in the water near shores causes annoying shimmering

Don't know if "Sea Flicker ( sometimes ) - Fixed" in the 2.5.6.43872 patch (2/20/20) was to address this, but lots of issues remain with "Water-High" reflections. The halo in reflections around objects like the canopy bow remains (even the screen edge has its own fringe). From a low angle the reflection near the shore line looks pixelated and has a sort of moire effect with small head movements. Reflections can look blocky and unnatural from a medium distance. Sun reflections still look great and don't exhibit any of these issues. The sim overall is looking very good but these artifacts are distracting (yes I'm aware of "Water-Medium", but that has it's own issues as addressed in previous posts). An option to disable reflections would be great. -

This is still a thing after patch 2.5.6.43872 (2/20/20). Take tension on CAT 3: get thrown with extensive damage. -
Ran repair - no luck. Made a mission with only a row of 15 APC Tigr 233036 next to a row of 15 Fuel Truck ATZ-10 on Caucasus. Fuel Trucks are visible at normal ranges; Tigr's pop in at less than half a mile.

The PAPI at Khasab has been fixed but unfortunately the brightness is now so low they are unusable. They should be easily visible at 3 miles or more (daytime) but they are just barely visible at a mile. This goes for Al Dhafra as well. Also TACAN at Khasab is gone, assume that was for accuracy.

Had the same thing happen. Cold start Hornet with taxi to cat 3. Thrown 20 feet after hooking up. Bent landing gear, trashed jet. -
The update 2.5.6 water reflections now seem to have a sort of T1000 metallic look to them with a distracting shift/shimmer. Am I missing some graphics switch to turn this down?

How will the Super Carrier be used in existing Missions?

Not a complaint, but it does seem needlessly confusing to have chosen the Stennis as one of the five. It appears to imply some sort of in place replacement. If it doesn’t replace Stennis “classic” they could have just chosen a different 5th ship and left it at that.
