It seems to have some kind of acceleration profile on it, drag faster with the mouse and it'll scroll faster. It's weird, and I'm not a fan either. It takes far too much interaction to rotate the damn thing, and I can't get the Hind to stop trying to kill me long enough to actually be able to use the damned knob in the air.

Don't think of trim as having a neutral "zero" point to return to. That's not the point. There is Takeoff Trim, which sets the jet up for a take off configuration, but that's not the same as a neutral configuration either. It's just meant for takeoff. Trim is a pilot relief function, it's only purpose is to help you fly the plane. Fly the plane first, then use trim as necessary. If you drop a bomb and the plane is rolling, trim it out. Don't look for a magic fix-it button, it doesn't exist. Just fly the plane.

Since I assume you're being vague because of the forum rules, this is what is specifically prohibited: You can say the name of the document and a page number so that others can reference and know WTF you're talking about. You can describe in very general terms what feature you're talking about. You don't need to be so vague as "There's a feature mentioned somewhere in this series of documents. I want it." Or, if you're really concerned about classification or ITAR and want to communicate something to the dev team, PM NineLine or BIGNEWY where you can be as explicit as you want to rather than being pointlessly vague in public.

US F-16s were never fitted to carry Harpoon or Penguin, so we won't be getting it. Other nations do have that capability, but there are a lot of different F-16 variations in service around the world, all with slightly different or significantly different system configurations than our USAF Block 50 Viper. You can shoot Harpoons in the Hornet though.

As far as I know, the max landing weight is effetely higher than the max takeoff weight under any circumstances, so it's essentially never a concern. If you got off the ground in a configuration, you can land with it. You can name them and give a page number for others with the documents to reference. You just can't directly link to the manual or paste info out of it.

It's easy enough to bump the range with the cursor, I doubt I would even use a HOTAS button to do it, it's fairly unnecessary. There should be a north arrow around the inner ring on the HSD, I'm not sure why there isn't right now, but the real jet has it. The TGP is pretty much moving the SPI by default, unless you're in SP mode or it's slaved to another sensor. If the TGP is in a tracking mode, SPI is set to the TGP. It's a simpler system that is faster and easier to use than the Hog because it requires less micromanaging of systems.

There isn't one that comes with the module at the moment. The Viper is still in development and generally campaigns tend to be done closer to the end of the development process. It should have a campaign included eventually, but you'll need to wait for it.

Yah, that'd be awesome. There's already some functionality in this regard in that you can insert user images into .miz files that get used for the kneeboard. Something similar to this, create a folder directory in the .miz file and drop the image in, would be awesome. The challenge would be that there would need to be some way of attaching positioning info to it. It couldn't be just a PNG that the mission creator drops into a folder, it needs to be in the correct scale and the game would need to know how it relates to the world, or at least where the starting position is.

Will DCS Supercarrier benefit from HB latest update?
Bunny Clark replied to ViperDriver's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
I can see both sides of this. On the one hand it makes the most sense for it to be a universal thing tied to the carrier that's creating it, then it'll effect any aircraft flying an approach regardless of what it is. If I want to land a Harrier on a carrier I should still feel the effects if I fly through it. It should also effect mod aircraft such as the A-4 and T-45 that way as well. But I can also see HB's point about being able to fine tune the effect for an individual aircraft. If they get really specific feedback from their SMEs about how the Cat is effected by the burble, it'd be cool to be able to implement that rather than just having to live what how ED thinks every plane should be effected. There's plenty of tiny aerodynamic things going on with any aircraft that could cause a difference in feel when flying through something like the burble that may not get recreated correctly by a broader FM. Maybe a mix of both is possible? We'll see. As for the tailhook physics: HB has kinda lead-frogged ED here. The Hornet has had hook skip modeled for ages already, and that was one aspect of carrier landing that had been really deficient in the Tomcat model. HB now seems to have a far more sophisticated model than ED used for the Hornet. I don't know that is really makes much difference in the end, I haven't put many landing reps in with the new Cat yet. The hook bounding on the ground is cool, but I wouldn't exactly call that a critical feature. -
Is taking 3 fuel tanks on a F-16 a good idea?
Bunny Clark replied to Strider1_Trigger's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
As far as I know the only F-16s that were capable of using Sparrow were the F-16 ADFs. Those were a specific subset of specially modified F-16A Block 15OCUs built for the Air National Guard and were never used by the USAF. Though, some were deployed by the ANG for Desert Storm. -
Yah, the stick is the same, but the Viper's throttle has far fewer buttons. Many things can be done fairly quickly on the ICP. I bound the up/down switch and DCS dobber 4-way switch to my HOTAS to make things a bit easier. Radar range sorta has a HOTAS command, scrolling the cursor to the top or bottom of the display will bump the range up and down.

That is my understanding as well. I've thought about adding an "After Takeoff" section which includes DUST Filter - OFF. Right now it's the only thing that would be on that list, but maybe I should because I keep forgetting to turn it off myself.

There are keybinds for the scale switch and light switch. But not the position adjustment dials unfortunately.

I like to have everything on one page, plus mine omits unnecessary items and includes some things like cockpit lighting and weapons setup that the in-game one does not. It's just an image file. Download it and place it in your kneeboard folder.

I'm working on a simple one-page startup checklist to get the Hind powered up and ready to go. Like all my other checklists this bypasses all tests and switches that are already in the correct position. Download link on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/52676960

Nope, not at the moment. Waypoints are the only thing that shows up.

Question concerning realistic use of anti-torque
Bunny Clark replied to TheCrysinator's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
The Ka-50 also has two counter-rotating main rotors, so collective changes don't tend to generate much torque. One rotor is always balancing out the other by default. In a helicopter with a single main rotor and tail rotor, you're always having to adjust tail rotor force to counter the torque caused by changes in main rotor force. -
It's an F-16CM Block 50 CCIP. It's approximately contemporary to the Hornet module, though in some ways feels newer as the primary avionics hardware is an upgrade package while the Hornet's primary avionics hardware is all original to the F/A-18A (with the exception of the AMPCD).

Even if all the mechanics stayed the same and they just add an animation of removing the card and replacing it with a new one whenever we change scale or maps, that would help.
-
Your speed should not be changing constantly during landing, at least not significantly. Once you're set up in landing configuration and at approach speed, which should happen on the downwind, that should pretty much be it. Trim it for that speed, then you'll need to put in a little manual roll as you flare over the runway to level everything out.

It gets used sometimes in training when no wing tanks are mounted, then it can provide a useful range extension, and it has a higher G limit as well. It's pretty rare though. It's an unusual loadout, the USAF has rarely used the F-16 in a pure air-to-air role, F-15s typically fill all the need that roll. But I think it's typically either 4x AIM-120 and 2x AIM-9 or 5x AIM-120 and 1x AIM-9. AIM-120s are always on the wing tips, but where the AIM-9s are mounted seems to be inconsistent, it may varies by squadron?

The A and B Hornets used a microfilm moving map display as well, with graphics superimposed over it by the DDI display computer. It was officially the "HI" but pilots called it the "fishbowl" because it used a fresnel combiner lens that caused a distortion.

I'd make two different charts, one for front seat and one for back seat, as that's a hard delineation between functions. Fast reference is easier when you can quickly filter by which cockpit you're in. Then find a way to to have better contrast and clearer text. Less color, or keeping the color in blocks rather than the text, will also make it print better.
