  1. Cool. Do you have a pic of your seat?
  2. I will add that I understand ED’s business model for putting out more platforms and scenarios. They pay the bills. Core improvements do not. So I get it.
  3. $225 for shipping?? Is Elon Musk sending a rocket to Mars to bring it back??
  4. I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this question, but what are the community's thoughts on the Volair sim cockpit? Good, bad or indifferent? Its pricey, but it seems to have all the things in the right places to mount TM HOTAS and such. My requirement is for a ready made VR cockpit that I can mount my Warthog Stick, throttle, rudder pedals and the Cougar MFDs to in the correct ergonomic location. I'm not at all concerned with the mounts for large screen monitors since I will be 100% VR. Short of building my own (which I don't even come close to having the time for) - is this a good set up or are there better alternatives? thanks in advance.
  5. I'm really dating myself because I recall we didn't even have the AIM-120 SW tape yet during the FTU at Luke.
  6. Sorry for my ignorance, but what is point control?
  7. True. AI wingmen should only say 3 things, EVER..... 1. "TWO" 2. "Lead, you're on Fire" 3. "Save the Fat one for me"
  8. This is all good news. I would rather ED concentrate on core improvements rather than new modules. Having said that.... PLEASE get The Hornet and Viper to a 99% solution as well. Thanks!
  9. Ok done. I can't wait to see the resolution jump! On a related note, I have an HTC Vive Pro. I've read where the hand controllers are compatible with the reverb. How do I set them up? I won't use them for DCS at all, but I will use them for FPS games on occasion. Thanks all for the help.
  10. Good to know, thanks. What about the face pad? Which is more comfortable? I thought I recall people complaining about the leather not being very comfortable to wear for extended periods. True or not?
  11. I lied, I have a 2nd question. Reverb is fixed hardware IPD (70mm) but adjustable via software? Is this correct? If so, is the SW adjustment adequate for someone around 64-65??
  12. Hi all, sorry - I'm about to pull the trigger today on ordering a Reverb. One last question regarding the Pro vs Consumer version: I don't really care about the short cable as I'll never likely use the $3K backpack. So my understanding is the only other difference is the face cushion. Pro has the wipeable leather face cushion and the Consumer the foam. Presumably because the Pro will have many different users. Which one is more comfortable to wear for long periods? I'm assuming the Foam faceplate? Are there any other differences I'm missing?
  13. I agree with you. I can't imagine gloves replacing sticks or HOTAS buttons, but I would love for the gloves to get to the point where it can manipulate all the other virtual switches and dials that we currently have to use a mouse for. I would pay big $$ for that. In addition, one of the other uses for gloves would be for giving hand signals to a live wingman in formation. Lead changes, fuel checks, formation signals, gear up/dn signals, etc. My understanding is that the gloves can be seen from another jet when in formation. Not sure if this is true yet or a just a wishlist at this point. But that would be another huge use for the gloves as they mature.
  14. Exactly! (some of) You guys bitch about realism, but checking six IS hard on the neck IRL. Try it while pulling 7-8gs and wearing a JHMCs Helmet. The thing I find hard in the virtual world is there is nothing to push against unless you've built yourself a real pit. That's what I find the hardest. IRL you have the cockpit rails to push against with one hand to push your upper torso away from the direction you want to look and to help twist your upper body rather than trying to do it all with your neck. When I'm doing BFM in DCS, I'm constantly reaching out with one of my hands towards the "virtual" canopy rail at my shoulder and then going F**k when its not there. It's REALLY hard to look straight behind you without having something solid to push on in order to twist your upper body from the waist.
  15. Thanks, that's really good to hear. I'm going to likely pick one up soon. Again please pardon my ignorance, I've just started looking at these. My understanding of the other main difference between Pro and consumer is the cable length - i.e. consumer long / Pro short? The short is probably fine for DCS since you're not moving around, but I'll likely also eventually do some FPS games in a room size area. Would the shorter cable be too short for that application? If that is true, and there's no difference in the image quality or performance between the two - I'll likely go for the consumer version.
  16. Hi all, I apologize in advance for the question - but I'm not willing to read all 498 pages of just this thread to find the answer. So now that the Reverb is out and is being used, what's the consensus for DCS use on a high end Desktop (see my specs below)? Good, bad or indifferent? I'm currently running an HTC Vive Pro, and while its "good" its not great for resolution. And I think I would rather have clarity and sharper and smoother images rather than the bigger FOV but poorer PPD of the Pimax. So the Reverb seems to be the best solution on paper. But for you guys that have been flying with it, what is the Reader's Digest answer on whether its a thumbs up or thumbs down purchase? Related question - Which is better? Reverb consumer version or Pro version? My understanding is the only differences is the face pad (leather vs foam). Are there any other differences that make the Pro a better HMD? Huge TIA!
  17. For those of you who want to get rid of your Reverb, PM me. I'm looking at buying one soon and I'll be happy to take it off your hands.
  18. Excellent, Thank you. That's exactly what I was looking for. The Vive Pro is good, but I haven't looked through any other goggles to compare. I too found it OK but not stunning in terms of clarity and just wondered if that was the way they all were without paying the $7k price tag for the stupid expensive ones. A related question about the headsets that do the inside out tracking vs the ones with base stations like the Vive: I've been wanting to dabble in some military FPS games if I can ever wrestle myself away from DCS (no luck so far). Is there any limitation on the self-contained tracking for room size VR rather than just a seated position like a flight sim?
  19. In fact for most Modes/profiles of the GBU-24 - Continuous lase is required for it to work properly.
  20. Yes, sadly I hate to admit I was. But not for too long. When the new digital maps showed up, it was like Moses parting the red sea. Angels sang..... ;) Still though, the film cassettes were (usually) better than nothing. When they worked.
  21. Good stuff. Thanks all.
  22. I recall a few threads a while ago where some users were using the MFDs with good success in VR. It sounds like it just takes some muscle memory to find the right buttons. I'm about to order this pack, but before I do - are there any pros and cons with VR use? How hard are they to set up and program? Any tips or tricks to VR use? I really like the idea of being able to reach out and push real buttons instead of using the trackball. TIA
  23. Hi all, I've got some HOTAS hardware questions: Currently I have the TM Warthog stick and throttle. I recently bought the TM F/A-18 add on grip for when I fly the Hornet. I'm adding a set of the cougar MFD pack for tactile button pushing. All is used in VR. My question is: Is it worth getting the Cougar F-16 throttle when I fly the F-16 module rather than using the dual Warthog throttles tied together? My plan would be to switch out the throttles depending on which module I'm flying just like I do the stick depending on whether I'm flying the Hornet vs the A-10 or F-16. But not sure if its worth the extra $$ and time to set it up. Any thoughts? Edit: all are used 100% in VR.
  24. I'm somewhat surprised no one's mentioned a late 80s / early 90s Fulda Gap sort of scenario. Another couple of scenarios that would be fun would be a current NATO vs Russia in Ukraine or Georgia type thing as well as a Balkans Allied Force pack. Also, with the JF-17 introduced, it would be fun to do a "What if" scenario of a US/NATO vs Pakistan conflict in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Far more interesting terrain than the PG, IMHO.
