Yes like the real aircraft with the canopy open... to close it you duck your head.

Like in the P-51, the pilot with a helmet on would have to bow his head down when opening/closing the canopy.

Go to your "Saved Games/DCS/Config" and open the options.lua, navigate to line 44 ["lights"] if it is set to 0 then there will be no illumination, try setting it to 2.

I thought an airframe lifting vertically off the ground, using the power of it's own engine and with zero forward airspeed was a VERTICAL TAKEOFF, unless someone re-wrote the definition. :)

We experimented and had VTOL working perfectly with EFM back in 2012...entirely possible, it's all up to the person writing the flight model... The notion that "DCS World doesn't support VTOL" is complete bull.

Strange, the auto-updater (as long as I deactivate my mods first) doesn't even touch JSGME, and has been fine over many versions.

It's because the F-15 has an AFM now, so using the 15 hud or cockpit will require giving that aircraft the F-15 AFM as well.
