How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
Baldrick33 replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks, I managed to work it out thanks to your guide. I just think it would be better if these were standard to match the other switches but we are where we are and thanks to the community can resolve most controller needs. Overall I find the controller options in DCS very flexible, we can do most things with some effort and threads like these. Ideally I would like to see a bit more consistency and common standards but I know it has evolved and is a big project to consolidate across modules. -
How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
Baldrick33 replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have used Joy2key and also Joystick Gremlin for handling latched switches. My biggest frustration is the inconsistency of controls, not just between modules but also within modules. The A10C II for instance has on & off options for the latched APU switch and just a toggle for the latched battery and AC gen switches. So on a cold start up the AC gen switches are on in the aircraft and off in my button box. I don't think I can fix that using Joy2Key or Gremlin, I need to edit lua files to add the on and off options to work properly with latched (maintained) switches as DCS only provides an option for a momentary switch. For an ED flagship aircraft like the A10C II I think this is an oversight that should be addressed. -

Will the modernized F-4E have the AIM-120?
Baldrick33 replied to S. Low's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Whatever we envision when we think of a F-4 Phantom, I believe the OP has a valid point that the aircraft exists and isn't some made up idea as you seem to suggest. -

When you say module page are you looking in the module manager (top left icon when you start DCS)? -
Generel question on VR setup/usage
Baldrick33 replied to Boozer73's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
With clickable cockpits you can do most stuff by mapping the mouse controls to HOTAS buttons if you wish. I have Esc and the F keys mapped to my HOTAS and button box I don't use a keyboard or mouse at all once the mission has started. My personal preference is to use button boxes for the main functions. For example the warbirds I have pretty much everything I would use mapped to buttons, switches and rotaries - it is amazing how quickly you get used to where they are even though you can't see them. For interfacing with MFDs I find it easier to look and push the button on my stick mapped to mouse button. You don't need a lot of buttons though as using the mouse buttons on the HOTAS and looking around covers most things, just that in combat sometimes you don't want to be looking at the control you are operating and prefer to do it by feel. -
I did manage to replicate that. I think I was looking for something a bit more severe but yes I get exactly how you describe, the left point of the diamond against the vertical bar in free flight, perfectly centred on the ground.
-
I just took off a few times and don't see any change in the controls settings. It shows centred on the ground and if I centre my stick after takeoff it is centred too. No obvious change as you describe at all. I am on beta but I think they are the same now. I have no trim settings set in special options. That was using the instant action takeoff mission.

Worth asking just in case, you haven't turned unlimited ammo in DCS on by any chance have you? -
This was the announcement, Systemactive the HP G2 resellers in the UK have advertised having these available for some time. https://press.hp.com/us/en/blogs/2021/award-winning-hp-reverb-g2-vr-better.html

All modules get updated when you update. I see you are running the stable version which I don't have installed but I thought this issue was fixed on beta long before stable was updated though I may be wrong. -
joystick modifier not respected by george
Baldrick33 replied to spikenet's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Using VR I only want to see the George interface when commanding the AI to do something, so I am happy just to switch it off which automatically frees up the Hat. So for me the DCS implementation works well. We have so many options with different hardware and software utilities that we can pretty much do whatever we like, just as you have achieved! -
Has anyone made a caucasus BVR mission ?
Baldrick33 replied to swaps's topic in New User Briefing Room
It also supports the A-4 as an AI bandit so is looking for the mod. Not sure if you can ignore the error? Otherwise I guess you could remove the A-4 from the mission in the mission editor. -
I mapped the Options command to a button and that seems to work pretty well.

joystick modifier not respected by george
Baldrick33 replied to spikenet's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
As @BIGNEWYsays once the George AI is activated the hat (or whatever is assigned in the George AI controls) will be used for George AI commands. Simply deactivating it (press George AI Helper Interface - show/hide) and the hat will be assigned to the CPG controls and however many modifiers you wish to use. George still has control even without the interface showing If you wish to see the George AI interface and switch between the Hat for George AI and CPG controls you could use a third party product like Joy2Key or Joystick Gremlin and switch modes so that pressing the Hat gives DCS different inputs (buttons or keys) in each mode but I am not sure that is really needed unless I am missing something. -
Like most I can adapt to the changes to the point it seems a non issue. The whole point was that "whoah!" moment the first time of loading the previous patch where previous inputs with the same hardware and settings now produced different results. That is the point of this thread to try to feedback that there is a change where nothing is documented. The ATT Hold change is irrelevant to that as that is not the behaviour being discussed (unless the change has introduced other change to the FM when it does become relevant). The ATT Hold update deserves praise but that is a different topic. That it can reproduced by switching to previous versions or between stable and open beta should be enough to put to bed the discussions about how to fly it or what controllers are needed. ETA: This is also without using any trim so those settings can be discounted too.

Yes when I say it can be done in VAICOM I guess that is actually standard Voice Attack functionality I am referring to. -

If you do want to try Joy2Key this is the option you need to set mouse coordinates (50,50 is centre) -
Change the Z position of the mouse pointer in VR.
Baldrick33 replied to Roger01's topic in Virtual Reality
I use Joy2key to recentre my mouse mapped to a button on my HOTAS. The centre position can be customised above or below centre if you choose. It can also be done in VAICOM Pro I am sure there are other tools. Of course the simplest way is to just move the mouse once you start the mission to the position you want and then just move your head. I also can use the trim controls to be able to move the mouse up, down, left & right using a modifier in Joy2Key to get to those awkward to look at switches. -

I believe you may have an incompatible opencomposite.ini file in your dcs\bin folder. If you delete or rename it then it will use defaults
