In my view it would be a nice to have but is extremely well served by the community. There are loads kneeboard friendly checklists in the Downloads- User Files section of the DCS website. My personal favourites are those by Sydy: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/type-is-document/user-is-sydy/apply/ That said I have taken to creating my own from the excellent Chuck's Guides. I call them ChuckLists The main reason for that is the process of creating them is more beneficial to me in learning them. Just like taking notes from a lecturer or text book as @SharpeXB points out. Plus it gives me complete control of formatting for using a kneeboard in VR. Also for VR users. VRK allows for tabbed and bookmarked entries. I don't know if there is something similar for 2D? Personally I find Chuck's Guides so much more accessible than the dev provided documentation that I would probably continue to create checklists that I understand so I am happy to leave the checklist stuff to the community and let the devs focus on what I think they do best! Sure, ideally everything should be provided but DCS isn't really a jump in and do everything kind of sim and has an excellent enthusiast community to fill in the gaps IMHO

Maybe, I only have the open beta installed, though I have had the Mossie since release and never had this issue. -
Mossie Engine Controll Setup

In my view AI in multicrew aircraft provides a great opportunity to be both more realistic by sharing the workload as per the real crew and make it more accessible again by sharing the workload and providing the pilot with assistance. Sure it can be done by jumping seats or doing everything from one seat but it adds to the workload. DCS is obviously more complex than most games but with enough inclination most can grasp the fundamentals of flying and managing the onboard systems. Where the difficulty level rises steeply is doing all this in a combat (panic!) situation. There are experienced and very competent pilots here who could fly an F15 solo and ace it. Lesser mortals (like me) could do with some help and AI adds that opportunity to do just that without adding some kind of immersion breaking instructor mode.

IMHO I think the important thing with this feedback thread is that it there is a belief that things have changed with exactly the same hardware, controller settings and light conditions. Certainly adding pedals and getting better controllers can help those struggling but this is more about those who weren't but are finding it harder (or at least different) than before.

I think it would be a better experience if there is a WSO on board be that AI in single player or a human in multiplayer. Otherwise the same argument could apply to multiplayer, save bothering on making it multicrew and just have one slot per plane and allow the person to jump seats. Doesn't sound great though...

If you don't want to wait you could replace your DCS Installation folder\Mods\aircraft\SA342\Input\keyboard\default.lua with the attached one This fixes the missile launch button default.lua and also DCS Installation folder\Mods\aircraft\SA342\Input\joystick\default.lua with the attached to fix the gain increase duplication default.lua

I am sure they will have access to stats of DCS activity online and offline. My belief is that the forums naturally skew the perceived multiplayer vs single player ratios but my understanding is that single player activity dwarfs multiplayer.

Exactly that. The point being made is the flight model feels different post patch. Of course it may change, of course it may become more difficult (or easier) as constant evolution is a massive part of the appeal of DCS. There will always be room for improvement in programming knowledge, software tools, data, hardware capabilities and simply man hours needed to devote to projects. Feeding back our perception of changes when there is nothing to support such a change in release notes is important as it may be for a number of reasons: 1/ Exactly as planned - some changes under the hood that weren't considered significant enough to document 2/ Impact of changes that are documented - intentional 3/ Impact of changes that are documented - unintentional which need investigating 4/ An unrelated change in the build that wasn't meant to be there Probably some others. If there is some consensus that it has changed with exactly the same conditions - controller settings, mission settings (weight, loadout etc.) then it gives ED good feedback to investigate and report back their findings in my view. It is the benefit of an open beta.

OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
Baldrick33 replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
The file gets replaced with a DCS update to one which is not compatible with the OpenXR mod. Deleting or renaming it forces Windows to use a compatible version which it finds in the Windows\System32 folder or similar. The alternative is to keep a backup and replace it in the DCS\bin folder. It has the same result. -
If I turn on the formation lights I get odd flickering when moving my head in the cockpit in VR. I think this is similar to other lighting issues e.g. the supercarrier in aircraft on the deck.

I updated and it all looks ok

Superstition I would imagine. It would appear there has never been a 13 release.

I use Joy2Key and simply assign the release of the APU switch (and others) to a key. I then map the key to APU Off in DCS. Not the most elegant method but it works reliably and is pretty future proof of updates overwriting custom mapping. It can also be used for three position switches using a similar approach with a key for the middle position as releases from the switches up and down.

No, you should have two Mods folders, one in Saved Games under DCS (or DCS.openbeta) and one in your main DCS installation folder under DCS World (or DCS World OpenBeta). The latter should have the MiG-19P folder already in it.

You should also have a mods folder under your DC installation folder. Is it Steam or Standalone?

Will the modernized F-4E have the AIM-120?
Baldrick33 replied to S. Low's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
There are some solid reasons from a development perspective why we might not see such a variant fitting into plans but IMHO this isn't one of them. "You people" whoever they may be can do whatever they want with DCS and pitch their favourite aircraft against whatever is competitive or simply just fun for them. Load up whatever aircraft and weapons they want the AI to have, pick scenarios that suit be they historic or fiction, make the enemy easy or hard etc. Although PVP may seem the holy grail for combat sim fighter pilots the reality is that it is a very small subset of players. What the vast majority of people do with DCS compared with what we see with online server activity can be (and most probably are) quite different. -

I think it is just personal preference and our different sensitivities to various aspects. For me any stuttering or loss of smoothness is a massive immersion killer. Either it runs at 90fps (which it virtually never does on my system in DCS) or I need motion reprojection. Any drop from 90 with MR on is in my opinion immersion breaking. Not particularly from a nausea perspective but it simply doesn't look right. No frame rate capping resolves that in my experience. Yet for others MR introduces aspects that makes it immersion breaking for them and prefer MR off and deal with the loss of smoothness. That is what works for them. Very occasionally my G1 drops to 60Hz (I get a message in WMR) and I need to restart the PC or disconnect and reconnect the headset to resolve it. If I miss the message and load DCS I can instantly tell and the flickering is unmanageable , I have to exit immediately. Yet some actually run with 60Hz through choice. It is hard for me to believe but again that works fine for them. For me, VR is all about immersion yet what works for making our brains feel we are "in the plane" can differ from person to person. There are no one size fits all answers which can make setting it up something of a trial and error exercise but there is a lot of good advice and pointers to help on these forums IMHO. -
A simple solution of cockpit click in VR: Finger-ring touch mouse
Baldrick33 replied to Jenson's topic in Virtual Reality
Having tried and sold PointCtrl I actually find the whole looking at switches and using either my HOTAS or button box controls for switching them on/off or rotating knobs more natural. These things are down to preference and I accept I am probably in the minority here. I use Joy2Key and can switch between using the Trim controls as trim or to move the mouse cursor left right up down to get to those awkward to look at places. I also use the Warthog CMS hat as left and right mouse buttons and mouse wheel. With depress as a recentre mouse cursor. It works really well for me at least! -
WARTHOG replacement joystick, need to reassign bindings?
Baldrick33 replied to nachomaga's topic in Thrustmaster
I doubt it will retain the mappings as your new WH will have a different id However, if it doesn't you could always rename the files from the old device name to the new one. In Saved games\DCS (or DCS.openbeta)\Config\Input\Aircraft\joystick. Although you would need to do this for each aircraft For example my WH stick config file is named Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {55603120-BB61-11e9-8010-444553540000}.diff.lua An alternative which may save a lot of time in the long run is to use Joy2Pro and import all your current binds and remap them to your new stick given there will be tons of duplicates (axis. triggers, weapon release and so on) which you will only need to reassign once in Joy2Pro. It is a bit of work though to set up but worth it IMHO -

That is the screen before WMR has detected the environment. If you were to re setup your room boundary I expect the cliff house would load. Not that it needs to for DCS to be able to work and recentre -
I agree, some form of damping or smoothing with a slider to set as an option would be a great addition.

I just copy the 3 0.6.3 ACC files saved in a folder to the dcs\bin folder after an update. Worked fine with this update.
