With CFTs it will exceed 1.8M from 33,000ft to 50,000ft and tops out at 1.9M. The -220 powered C after dropping tanks has a 1.8 spread of 28,000ft to 50,000ft and tops out at 2.2M.

Okay I found that targeting the IAS for OPT Cruise in climb give a faster rate of climb than targeting the IAS for Current Cruise up to 20,000. The higher speed climb then became more effective to 30,000. This under 98% MGTOW, 42C OAT, adjusting throttle for 102%rpm, Cruise Flap setting, attitude hold on for the duration. Once up there I did the fencing maneuver. It was slow but doable. Flaps Auto is really a boat anchor up there. I had previously found that targeting the Current Alt Cruise speed when at 20,000ft gives you almost the same estimated range, but in actuality probably even more because you get to power back sooner.

I just did it again. Plenty of gas remaining. I did try changing flaps from auto to cruise and it reduced drag (improved climb) for that final bit.

I got to 30k with 10 LJDAMs, 2 Sidewinders, gun pod, and targeting pod. It takes time but it gets there. Remember 102% is max continuous power. I use VREST-Cruise page and climb at the "current alt cruise CAS". Might work climbing at opt alt cruise CAS too.

I'm not clear on what this means. I would think that it just means to go into MP and make a New Server, but that is what I did when the Harrier track failed. I have seen other things that suggests I need a separate PC just to be a server, which is not an option.

Most/all the -402 Hornets went to Marines and foreign sales, so no he is not likely to have used them just by flying to 20 years. Again, he calls out the engine change of the Tomcat and not the Hornet, that is very telling. And do not confuse 10% more rated thrust with only having 10% more dynamic thrust. Same way the F-14A has a higher top speed than the F-14B.

Notice he never talks about Hornet engine upgrades, he is flying -400 motors not -402s such as are in the DCS Hornet.

You do know what the Fort GT was right? For the rest of your post, if this was MP then server desync was the likely culprit. Lots of tracks lately showing hits on maneuvering targets.

The 111kft shot is completely realistic, there is a historical test shot that did that very thing. 200kft.... I guess that's what happens when the missile isn't wasting time pitching up?

BTW, Thanks @Ramsay for the linked videos, that is how I did the above strike. It gives the Harrier a stronger "TOO Alpha Strike" type of drop than anything else in the game. Now if only I could put APKWS pods on the outboard stations....

The radar on the F-22 would likely track the Phoenix and let it maneuver out of the way or even shoot it down.

More like "yes and no" It could FIND them with an IRST, at much shorter ranges than it would other planes due to IR reduction techniques, and it could FIRE a Phoenix, but then terminal guidance is up to the Phoenix onboard radar, which will have great difficulty tracking the radar absorbing aircraft.

Look up the LEGION pod or IRST21, it's based on the FLIR from the F-14D and is I'm sure why the IRST is still under ITAR. And the EOTS on the F-35 does both functions of FLIR and Targeting Pod
