  1. First we need replays to stop desyncing. I have experienced it on F-14, AV-8B, and Su-27 replays.
  2. So we might be using a tested and developed configuration, but not an operational one. @Jayhawk1971 AFAIK the PTID issue us that there is not sufficient documentation, and the FLIR is the only part that is ITAR restricted.
  3. A while ago Bio mentioned that even the A models got PTIDs when equipped with LANTIRN. This got me wondering if the TID was actually LANTIRN compatible. I could have mis-heard him, or he could be remembering wrong, but it sounds as though without a PTID we shouldn't even have LANTIRN.
  4. I just rippled off 10 GBU-38s and wiped an SA-10 complex off the map. The 10.5s holding the pickle button was nerve wracking, but watching the entire site go up in smoke all at once was amazing!
  5. aren't they all. Finishing it up now.
  6. Oh wow! That's great news!
  7. It's hard to take these "Feenix Sux!" posts seriously when we have already been looking at dozens of well structured tests (from users not devs) of the three variants under differing conditions. The mk60 seems to be doing great right now. The C has serious guidance issues.
  8. That would be a challenge to say the least.
  9. The C, sorry I thought I had that in already. And those A mk60 tacviews are gorgeous to watch. That beautiful arc of a loft...
  10. F-4, A-4, A-6, A-7. Man...

AMRAAM pulls nose to 26.2deg in 2s from launch, Phoenix pulls nose to 13.5deg in 16s from launch. Sounds like guidance is making the difference here.
  12. I love letting SAMs shoot at me a few times before I blast em
  13. Phabulous Phantoms Phorever... I cheered, and my wallet cried
  14. I think they are trying to say both. FWIW, structural test of a brand new aircraft involves finding the critical load condition and simulating the forces and moments to 150% to see if it snaps. The goal is to be close to 150%, not over 200%. Design load limit can be exceeded, but it is not supposed to be exceeded, and it is certainly not the planned exceedance. No fighter jet makes it to 10^5 hours, more like 10^4 (unless you are trying to imply 10 cycles per hour, which sounds very aggressive, IIRC 1.2-1.3 was used for the F-16) and it needs structural reinforcement through SLEP programs to get there.
  15. No one has ordered it, not even the country that developed it.
  16. You basically need to be trimmed out first and only then can Alt hold work
  17. maybe, once...
  18. A datalinked target stays red, it just fills in when you have it too. This threw me for a long time
  19. Does it need recalibration? Sorry, I had to. I'm sure your sick of it by now.
  20. And how is the LSO suppose to grade you when you have no hook? I appreciate that I can start on the SC with my Hornet friends but I have zero expectation of ground crew or LSO functions working for it as AFAIK no AV-8B has ever flown from a CATOBAR ship (I could be wrong).
  21. then maybe they should react to being pinged by radar, not by missile launch
  22. That's the whole point of TWS missiles, and I was pretty sure that was a bug they said they fixed a while back and that the AI shouldn't react until the missiles go active.
  23. Yeah, only one public document with only a few parameters listed, and those parameters imply near f-16 levels of turn capability Edit: Those parameters ALSO include installed dynamic thrust across a range of speeds for a few altitudes, so if a FM is built on the Pre-EPE Hornet and then updated with the new thrust and then tweaked to make sure the few known values line up, then it could be reasonably accurate. In the end it's all about how you fly. You fly an F-14B at 15 AoA in full burner you will be right around best STR. Accidentally pull to 20 and a slight bump might see you at 30 at out of speed in seconds. Accidentally lighten up to 10 and poof your wings are starting to sweep back and you are losing turn ability rapidly before you know it. A well flown T-45 could out fly a poorly flown F-14D. Pilot skill is everything, not only in controlling the plane, but in understanding the geometry of the fight, the tactics to use, and ability to read the energy state of the enemy.
  24. you are looking at the doghouse plots, not the flight envelopes.
  25. From the Sustained G flight envelopes in the NATOPS
