Hi Nice to see more people stream DCS on Twitch. BTW.... do U use OBS? I tried everything, starting OBS after the sim is started, window capture, but still OBS crashes DCS. Xstream works, but makes DCS micropause every 5 sec.

I think it is just wip... But the lights seem lacking at night. It just seems too dim. Are they dynamic lights or just baked on?

Did I just see a ground vehicle launch a flare?
Witchking replied to Witchking's topic in Mission Editor
Yup. I am sure it was a signal flare for help. But the interesting thing was that AI did it when I came attacking a convoy on the road. -
Fantastic job! Great angles... good content. Very well done. :)
-
I noticed that too. I also noticed a lot of instability at lower speeds during landing/final approach. I thought it was weather conditions as I set up cloud thickness/density to 8 and rain. I don't recall it being so touchy before. But may be a result of just AFM?
-
I have made one myself which I like for the warthog. Matches up functionally to the A-10C controls for the most part. Helps remember where things are. And i then generally use a similar layout for all the other planes and it helps remember all the controls.

Thanks. Good to know the install isn't messed up. Good to know. The delta wing aircraft just seems to drop out of the sky on final approach. I was pretty surprised and happy that the aircraft was pretty much in that good shape even after that short landing.
-
Ya...but CCRP is useful only with A-10C..but CCIP is a lot better for moving targets. Unfortunately it seems like I need to re-learn my bomb drops. Interestingly way easier in the A-10C than the A-10A.

Did I just see a ground vehicle launch a flare?
Witchking replied to Witchking's topic in Mission Editor
Interesting. Never knew. Ya... I did see only one flare. It was almost like a single flare from a flare gun. Looked really cool to see a lowly flare shot to a height which is still below you. it is such moments which DCS has only now started to do which makes it feel like a living world. Very nice and immersive. -
Getting ridges in cloud formations, FC3
Witchking replied to fitness88's topic in Video Corruption and Related Card Issues
I got even worse horizontal CUT SECTIONS in the cloud layers... it was with the newest nvidia 344.72 driver. I went back all the way to 334 or something from back in may and the clouds look fine. try another driver? see if that helps. -
Hey guys, Just bought Mig 21 on Steam for my Steam copy of DCS and did the start up training mission. It was fantastic. I love the humour touch. Very very nice. Really didn't expect that. Although...I did not have any audio narration... is this intended or a bug? But very nice. You should get a russian voice actor? or someone who has a nice sense of humour to narrate those and record those. Would be fantastic. I remember back in the day the old arcade sims used to have some voiceover for mission briefings etc.. and there would be some humor thrown in. Its fantastic to see this in this generation and I hope the trend continues into the other modules .. yours and even first party from ED. Secondly.. it was funny when after the startup tutorial...I just increased thrust and tried to move forward and the pilot/ATC shouted something in russian .. It sounded like a foreign version of "WTF are you doing?" lol. But the plane wouldn't go anywhere...I guess I needed to remove the speed brake or something :p But then..jumped into the free flight mission and had some fun flying around. Then did my first landing. BTW>>> AMAZING JOB with the sound of the THUMP landing gear. Very very well done. ED.. take some cues please :p Also..that pitot tube... DAMN that was hot. Watching that thing shake as I was trying to come down landing...it is the most realistic representation of flight since the A-10C thrilled me when it was released.... I was short of the runway..but the damn Mig landing gear is so tough..I still managed to bounce a bit and end up on the runway with just a bent left landing gear. :p cheers Varun

Interview with Leatherneck Studios
Witchking replied to Count Sessine's topic in Heatblur Simulations
lol! Just saw the interview... and re-bought DCS Mig 21 on steam @ $54 CDN. Already bought it on DCS site at release, but I am a sucker for steam to manage my games. :p Keep going leatherneck... give me a harrier and tomcat next please. :p Also a Mig 25 would be awesome. :p -
I must have had a brain fart, I just can't remember why I didn't take a screenshot. It was the first 1.2.12 release and I was flying around in the hog/flanker and trying to down some ground targets and if I saw it correctly...I saw a ground unit launch a single FLARE...like a flare gun flare. It looked freaking awesome. Something I never saw before. So..I set up a practice mission with T-72s and a few BMPs, they did shoot me down quite a few times as I became fixated with the A-10A and its avenger cannon..but thats besides the point :p they did not pop smoke or flares. I have although seen the pop up mushroom cloud of smoke before in the same mission. Does any of u guys here know: 1) What is the criteria for a AI unit to pop a smoke canister or flare? 2) Is there certain units that can pop flares and smoke? 3) Can we get a mention of these in the encyclopedia in DCS 2.0? thanks Varun

I agree.. Just flew for the last 2h in A-10A. No problem with gun smoke.

Hi guys, I was having issues with the CCIP line not becoming solid even at a 70 degree drop angle. I tried repeating it in other aircraft, even the A-10C and it seems fine. Also...is there a bug with using CBU 97 with A-10A? No matter what.. the line does not become solid. However, with Mk82s, the line has become solid once in all the times I tried at 80 degree angle from 10000 ft. It seems like the CCIP logic needs tuning? or am I missing something on how to properly use it? thanks V Edit... I was trying it again.. at one point...the line was still dashed. But when I switched to cannon and then switched back...it turned to a solid line.

Yup! I thought it was only with the Su25T. Seems like all aircraft may be showing this problem
-
Hi guys, Was trying to refresh myself and see if I am really as bad with shooting tanks with the avenger in the A-10C training mission. Noticed this in external view. The skin changes depending on how far you zoom into the aircraft. Seems like a LOD level skin issue. If you are close enough if u just zoom out a bit more... BAMMM! :p cheers, V
-
Hi, I noticed this in the latest version of DCS world. Tried the target range/practice mission in instant action for Su25T and noticed mainly: 1) The aircraft is already almost at bingo fuel at the start of the mission 2) When I was dropping all weapons to head to home base, all of them dropped...even the Kh25T, but the model stayed on the aircraft. cheers V

Yup. But being one of the first crude FBW implementations, there are quirks to the trim, instability of aircraft which are inherent and not attributed to faults in FM. Either way, I am sure ED pay enough meticulous attention to all their projects that they will iron out any bugs. I just hope they don't simplify some of the FM/FBW to attend to the "difficulty" that we simmers have in controlling the jet.
-
Yup! But sometimes polish/make it better may be "better" for gameplay/balance, but not in terms of realism. I hope ED sticks to the documentation/realism of the aircraft performance than the "feel" "experience" of flight that we as a community typically quote as being different from the actual aircraft itself.
-
Very nice. I prefer the historically accurate "textures". Thanks. :) Dammit..stil have to wait for the BF109 to show up on steam before I can buy it. :p
-
After seeing all the things which we raise issues about..trim, pitching up, keyboard incompatibility :p with flanker FBW... :megalol: I just wanted to take some time to say Dima/YoYo/ED./Chizh/Wags.. you guys did a fantastic job with the PFM for the flanker. Same goes for all the testers. Great job everyone. Its a fantastic flight model and I enjoy it like it is with all the quirks as it is in real life. For the first time, we can actually fly the flanker with such an authentic flight model.. so I hope you don't loose sight of your achievement in the face of all the PFM complaints you see here. It is absolutely fantastic to deal with the quirks of last generation aircraft and that is what makes each of them unique. I hope you don't "simplify"/"dumb down" the "quirks" for the sake of gameplay/balance.. and leave it as realistic as possible, the way it was designed and the way it is in real life. Keep up the fantastic work and looking forward to seeing more of these modern PFM aircraft. Even FC level :P:pilotfly:... better than the WWII birds for me. :p :music_whistling: PS: Looking forward to the Su-33 and Mig 29 whenever you get to it. ;) cheers Varun

Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues
Witchking replied to ShaZe88's topic in Steam Support
Personal preference really. I was on steam DCS, then back to standalone then back to steam again and now waiting to buy the WWII modules on steam for this christmas. I like the unified interface with a record of how many hours I wasted on games in my life and a central place for all my screenshots. :p -
BTW....regd why keyboard is still part of controls.... its for all the systems that you possibly cannot map to any hotas available today. I used to fly flanker 2 with keyboard..but upgraded to logitech wingman 2 --> x45 --> warthog. The wingman was awesome and a fun little stick. the x45 was terrible .. and the warthog is just freaking amazing. I don't know which joystick you may have tried... the t16000m has the same hall sensors as the warthog. It is a good stick to try if you are open to flying in this sim the way you are meant to experience it.

:book: For sure. The clouds already look fantastic from the BK and Su videos. I hope they will also improve the rain/snow graphics to add a DIRT/snow/water layer on the ground/runways and add the "previously requested" :smartass: rooster tails of water/mud/snow when taxing. Imagine multiplayer skiing maps :p and drifting on the runway. lol..aircraft lining up to land in a drift. :p
