DCS A10C Saitek Pro Rudder to Toe Brakes
Druid_ replied to Steel Jaw's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
After you have assigned your toe brakes using axis assign (pressing each toe brake in turn rather than selecting joyx or whatever from the dropdown list) then click on axis tune and depress the relevant toe brake. You should see movement. If you do not then you need to go into windows game controllers settings and check they work there. If not you have a driver or hardware problem I'd say. -
My preference 1. Tanker on own VHF AM freq 2. AWACS on own UHF freq 3. Players & MP flights on own VHF/UHF freq. (mainly for discreet Air to Air freq for TARS players). 4. AI CAP/ESCORT. Flights on AWACS freq. Other aircraft not involved directly with Players flight on own freq. (will switch them to Players freq if relevant using action 'switch freq') 5. AFACS on Own VHF or UHF AM freq especially predator which doesn't have FM radios. 6. Ground based FACs on own FM freq always. The great thing is that it is possible to get AWACS & even AI flights to 'switch freq' to the Players/MP discreet air to air freq if the situation warrants it using triggers. I would however like the option of being able to silence AI navigation calls only leaving other engaging calls available to be heard. I find them unrealistic and pretty pointless.

Don't need to use tostring. trigger.action.setUserFlag(random_flag_table[1], true) Now we have the scripting engine there should be a neater way of creating a random table than the method I used previously. When I have some time I shall have a think about it.

forther testing has revealed that some of the development bugs in follow and escort never made it to 1.2.1.xx This means that there is some unpredictable behaviour using these actions at the moment. With all new features there is always a settling in time as it is impossible to test every variation in which they can be used. In my testers version the aircraft escort or follow correctly and position is set correctly on the leader. Hopefully these fixes will find their way into an autoupdate soon.

Yes you can transfer or rather you de-activate then activate. see here http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/faq/activate/

Ok. first thing I did was add a WP to your F-15s so they knew in which direction to head in. I then added the escort action to WP1 (its better if its in a WP of its own). 1 point to note (and this needs changing, I shall report it) the position you set for the aircraft to 'follow' or 'escort' is based on the position of last aircraft in the formation and not the first (it should really be the first). Makes it a little difficult to work out the x,z co-ords as a result. Anyway .miz attached, tested and works. R1ver2.miz

please post your .miz file and we can take a look at it.

No problem. Can't test MP at the moment. Having said that try it out, it should work in theory since the JTACs are held in position and the reason they were not appearing was because they were reaching their end WP and switching off. At least for this bug we have a workaround but I have asked for the fix to be sent via an autoupdate. I can't say when unfortunately but when it does I'll advertise it. EDIT: also I noted you have FAC- assign group in your mission, just be wary of the results in MP. See http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1324315&postcount=41

ok, I had another look. Its difficult looking at other peoples logic so forgive me if I have this wrong but ... In mission start you deactivate US MBT JTAC36 (unit name is US JTAC 36) you then ONCE -> US JTAC 36 unit inside zone JTAC ANTI HOLD 36 _> AI TASK JTAC ANTI HOLD 36 /-HOLD So, since the group is deactivated at mission start it will never trigger in zone to action the HOLD command. Therefore your JTACs will continue to their last WP and 'switch off' [Note: Once a unit is deactivated it cannot be activated again. Maybe you meant to do AI OFF or something] I have put a HOLD action at WP0 waypoint actions on each JTAC. Please try now. =STP= Isegrims Summer Heat 1.7.3 noCA.miz

OK either I was testing in the wrong version (quite possible I have 4) or the last update nerfed it. Can you place a waypoint after WP0 on each JTAC and then place a HOLD command on WP0 so they don't move and tell me what happens then.
-
place an aircraft on the map and select the TASK as AFAC (airborne forward air controller). The aircraft TYPE drop menu contains all of the airborne units that can act as a JTAC.

Added a very simple mission with AFAC predator working on 30.0 FM only. Can someone test this for me and report back. I believe FM on predator is working in latest autoupdate 1.2.1.6288, or at least it is for me. predatorOnFM_test.miz

Just one point on the fuel setting in the ME, its for internal fuel only. So if you set 3% and he has external fuel drop tanks then he has a lot more fuel than you think (I spent ages recently hunting this one down!) and will happily cruise around for over an hour. Set a low fuel state and no drop tanks and with a suitable tanker nearby he will automatically go to it and refuel as long as it is closer than any friendly airbase. You need another waypoint after the waypoint at which you set the orbit for race-track to be available in menu. F-18s do refuel but only if they are in the same coalition, try a S-3B.

Isegrim, I checked your mission and you have the predator set to AFAC & have removed the generic FAC -a from the advanced options (which is fine if you want to stop him reporting everything) and replaced it with a FAC - engage group (also fine). But when I select FAC -engage group you have not assigned any target groups. i.e. Currently it says NOTHING. so with nothing assigned he's got nothing for you and probably won't even appear in the comms menu. Also put your FAC- engage group after the set invisible/immortal actions as you really want them to execute first. Works when I did all of this.
-
EDIT: FM frequencies appear to work now on predator, please make sure you select realistic FM freq's.
-
sure, post it up.
-
In the last autoupdate this has been fixed in my tests. Jtacs without waypoints should appear in radio menu and operate normally.
-
In my testing this problem has been fixed in the latest 1.2.1 autoupdate. I.e JTACs no longer need another waypoint to operate correctly. EDIT: as of 1.2.1.6700 it no longer works. You will need to place a WP1 after WP0 on a JTAC and place a HOLD action at WP0 for him to work correctly.

I use a static sound much like when you when the press transmit switch as a message notifier. Can't attach the file as away from pc atm. As for attaching files to post you could always copy them to your desktop and zip them, then attach. Especially if the file type is not supported but the forum.
-
I cannot see why that would affect anything. I have to ask though why would you have bs1 and bs2 installed? Do you have them installed so that you can play either? As for the bin files, there is always the slight possibility of a corrupt file especially if you use FTP rather than a BitTorrent but the nature of your problem inclines me to think its a different issue. So if I was you I would install dcsw to different drive to my bs1 install then run the ME and check for errors prior to,installing my bs2 module. Sorry I can't be more help but this isn't a problem I have seen before or can explain rationally.
-
does the sound play correctly when you assign it as sound to all? There are various types of .wav file (just to confuse us all) it may be that its not supported by the in game codec. Attach it and I'll take a look.

Ajax, sorry I am unable to replicate in my version. You are indeed correct about the path whereby it should be looking in the sdef folder. Its not like that path has changed recently. It was same path in ver 1.1.1.1 The only thing I can suggest is a re-install. Changing a lua file will only be a temp fix as it may change in an autoupdate.
-
sorry for the delay, testing and getting 1.2.1 out and working now on FC3 etc has taken up most of my spare time but I am pleased to say that I have converted this mission to DCSW 1.2.1. It involved -changes to lua trigger script -added follow action -added land action -fixed JTAC -optimised some of the units (misbehaving AI !) -reduced sound file sizes to minimise .miz size. Just need to put this through a proper MP test and I'll release it.

Bloody fantastic. Job well done.

Been following this for a while. Hope he pulls it off.
