  1. Man, after finishing mission two, I noticed small details that really make the immersion. On all the major intersections on the planned convoy route, there is a vehicle blocking the intersecting road so that civilian traffic can't proceed - being that I work in Washington D.C. (during normal times) that is exactly what they do whenever a motorcade passes through. Great touch. And also in mission 2: So great.
  2. It is easy to replace the standard wheels on a chair. There are many inexpensive solutions on Amazon. I got ones that use Rollerblade wheels and lock, and they were like $20 and I replaced them in 3 minutes. And since they're big rubber wheels I only have to lock two of them and my chair is completely immovable when I'm in it.
  3. I thought they were too stiff at first as well, but after I bought locking wheels for my chair, it made all the difference.
  4. Hmm. I just watched a youtube video where he stated that these bombs don't have a nose fuse. I tried in a quick mission and set it back to n/t and it worked. This is in the Sturmovik campaign, in the first mission where they give you these. I'll have to load it back up and see if the profile settings are different. Also in the quick mission I got to see what the little explosions look like. It's possible that was also it. The 87's don't seem to do much to armor, do they?
  5. I dropped two CBU-87s using CCRP, at two different altitudes (3000 ft then over 5000 ft) and I didn't see any explosions or damage. Are there profile settings that I need to apply? I set to Nose and the Invalid message went away. Not sure what else I missed.
  6. Switch to the camera view in the TrackIR software and see if it's losing sight of the sensors when you look up. If so, reposition the camera or your clip, or adjust curves. Also, if you wear glasses, see if those show in the camera view. If so, modify the TrackIR light settings until they are minimized, or your ambient light. Also ensure there are no light sources behind you.
  7. Do you have to use the F10 map to get the lat & long and elevation coordinates? This use case assumes that you can't see the runway, correct?
  8. I am able to set a frame rate limiter in Nvidia Control Panel and see the results in the game. I have it set at 97 or 98 to keep it under my g-sync monitor's refresh rate.
  9. Are you setting the high and low indicators on the gauge with their respective dials? IIRC it's a three step process - flip the switch above you, set high indicator, set low indicator. It won't show a numerical value until you move Low above zero.
  10. Thanks. The Hornet is strikingly beautiful, both in design and the DCS model. There's the roadmap thread where people are complaining about missing features though - and using a bunch of acronyms that I don't know. Would you say any of the yet-to-be implemented features are an impediment to learning modern avionics/weaponry? Is this a simpler modern craft to learn than the Harrier or Warthog?
  11. Yeah, I also have decision paralysis at this time. I almost always fly old warbirds. The Huey and F-86 are the newest craft I have much time in. I've downloaded the Harrier and A-10c, among others. The tutorials are slightly overwhelming... What's a good starter plane for someone new to modern avionics? I do have the warthog throttle so it was very cool seeing the inputs match the cockpit in the second tutorial mission.
  12. Are the A-10c and F-18 that much easier than the Harrier? I'm trying to learn the Harrier now, and it is a lot. Though I'm virtually always flying older craft, so I thought it was just how modern planes are.
  13. Cool! Any rough time frame for the full paid DLC?
  14. Yay, then I'll purchase the Harrier. One thing that we get to see during the free trial, that we can't easily see otherwise, are the many many training missions that this module comes with, not to mention how meticulous and detailed each training is. Those will keep me busy for a long time. I don't think they advertise this enough for the Harrier - this sets the Harrier apart from other modules that I've purchased.
  15. The Harrier is one of two planes I downloaded during the free month. I typically fly older planes, so the systems are different and more complicated than I'm used to. Seems like a good module though. Are there any confirmed official campaigns coming out for it though? If so, I'll purchase it.
  16. Are you looking at the turn/slip indicator? That will tell you that the plane wants to go to one side or the other before you will notice otherwise. Keep your feet moving back and forth quickly in short little movements in anticipation (called dancing on the rudders".
  17. Some of the planes come with a campaign, not all. All of the ones I've purchased come with training missions and some instant action missions though. I don't have the F-14.
  18. I can take off in it just fine - I just can't land the darn thing. Is it recommend to keep it on two wheels like that video above when landing? I always try a three point landing, but always lose control and get wing strikes afterwards.
  19. I'm not sure I understand those - the pedals move vertically instead of front and back? Do they lack toe brakes? I recommend the MFG Crosswinds if you want to spend that much.
  20. I've used mine on like three different monitors and the included mount has always worked for me.
  21. The MFG Crosswinds came in the mail extremely quickly. They have, built in, little extensions with a mount hole to make them longer. I used that to attach a strip of wood to both so that it buts up against the wall and doesn't move. Very simple to do - just two small pieces of wood, two screws and nuts/washers.
  22. I believe that if you are serious about flight simming, pedals are a must. I have the MFG Crosswinds and love them. How much are they in the UK?
  23. Ok, thanks much. Edit - after practicing boat killing in a mission that I made for myself, I was able to complete the mission (in a heavily damaged helicopter). I decided to engage straight/level autopilot, then use the flex guns in the left seat. Then take control after passing them, taking evasive maneuvers for a bit, then turn around and repeat. Btw, this campaign is difficult but fun and varied. I've improved my skills a lot in its course. (I did skip the two nighttime missions where you aren't allowed NVGs after I died in both. I completed the later nighttime one where you are allowed goggles the first time.)
  24. Are there any missions where I can practice this? I'm spending 15 or 20 minutes in the mission to get to the action point just to get shot down immediately upon gun boat spawning. Granted, I know my formation flying needs work, but still. If I should create my own mission in the editor, which I've never done, what is the boat asset called? Edit - holy carp. Just tried again for the fifth time and was able to damage one of the boats 3% before they destroyed me. I have no idea how anybody is able to survive them.
