I've had that in the campaign I'm currently playing - I thought it was just the campaign. I'll tell my wingmen to do something, and nothing will happen. Then I'd do the same again a couple seconds later, and they would respond.

Your Acer P243w is 1920 x 1200 resolution, correct? If so, consider the huge increase in number of pixels that your 1070 will have to push, and the associated reduction in performance. Unless you run at a lower resolution on the new TV than the native 4k.

What percenage of the user base uses VR?
unlikely_spider replied to Harlikwin's topic in Virtual Reality
If that statement's coming from Trump, we can likely conclude that the opposite is true. -
Anyone try this campaign yet?

Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
unlikely_spider replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Is there even enough publicly-available information to create a high-fidelity F-22? Regardless, I like older aircraft more. I'm not here to learn how to use a computer within my computer. I like stick & rudder, steam gauges, and up close & personal gun fights. -
Think of it like you're bending the tip of the rudder towards that side of the plane with your foot. Like when you move your right foot forward, it's attached to a rope that's pulling the back of the vertical stabilizer towards the starboard wing. Which creates a yaw to the right. (Which may have been the origin of that anyway in early planes, but I am not positive).

Gaming on an Ultra-wide monitor???
unlikely_spider replied to RIPPINREX's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think that resolution is Superwide. I have an ultrawide, which is 3440×1440. Works well in most games including DCS. The only thing I've experienced in DCS is many of the modules are too wide by default, so the edges are very distorted and the dash/gauges seem small and far away. I just modify the default view in each of them the first time I install them. Other than that little issue, it works beautifully. Support may vary in different titles. -
Maybe then for fairness' sake we can just replay, over and over again, a scenario where it accidentally wanders into Soviet airspace and runs into a patrol of I-16's.

In the Jagdflieger Campaign, mission 2, my engine always quits just after takeoff. I notice that there is a drop tank in this mission - does that have something to do with it? I let my engine warm up first before takeoff. Not sure if I should post there, or if there's something I'm doing wrong with the plane itself. Edit - I had the prop governor switched to Off. Solved.

End of Windows 7 support by Oculus!
unlikely_spider replied to TAW_Impalor's topic in Virtual Reality
That's not unexpected, since that's the same time Microsoft is ending support for the OS. -
I've found I have to take off sometimes before it will see them. Which is a huge pain considering how the dial works currently.

Ok, fine. From the DCS home page:

It's relevant because we are just playing a grown up version of children pointing toy guns at each other in their front yards. Just because we spent thousands of dollars on it doesn't mean that were not simply playing games in our living rooms. It's a simulator, yes. But it's also a video game. I'm not too insecure to admit that I play video games.
-
Lol, DCS is a video game regardless of your input devices. Strapping something to your face makes you no less a gamer than someone who doesn't. The truth is that you are playing war while people are actually fighting and dying in Syria and other parts of the world, and our fathers and grandfathers gave their lives in these aircraft so that we could sit comfortably in our living rooms surrounded by luxury goods and play on our computers. Every sim community is like this - people insisting on the legitimacy of their experience and refusing to believe that they would stoop so low as to play a video game.

In addition to the upcoming F-86 campaign that Reflected is working on? If so, I should pick up the A-8 now while it's on sale then. Is this confirmed?
-
I will buy the Spit and 109, and have the P-51 already. Is there any single-player content in the pipeline for either of the 190s or for the I-16? I'm purely single-player.
-
^ yes, fix the ADF dial please. Also mapping the dial up/down to keys doesn't work properly either.
-
Agreed I'm not on Facebook, but I will buy this campaign.

How is input latency on these services? I would think that VR users would be extra sensitive to any input latency while looking around, and I would also think that input latency would be an issue using a streaming service (though I haven't used one before)
-
Up to you - people swear by both. I have both and rarely use VR. I love my TrackIR setup. For me, TrackIR is very easy - I just put my hat on that has the clip, and I'm good to go. Getting VR up and running each time seems cumbersome, as is the device itself. With TrackIR, it is much easier to check your six. I can also still see/hear my wife/kid (that may be a pro or con depending on your perspective). I can also still see the keyboard, which is a big one for me. I'm also prone to motion sickness, which is a factor in VR but not TrackIR. I also have a 1440p ultrawide monitor which is awesome, so resolution is much better than current VR.

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
unlikely_spider replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Full fidelity and clickable cockpits are most of why I come here. Otherwise I'd just use the other sim. -
memory upgrade 2133 to 3200
unlikely_spider replied to DerFangzahn's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My understanding is that increases in memory speed affect AMD processors more than Intel, generally speaking. May be different application to application.
