  1. Dumb question, but are you aware that A/A missiles in the Hornet are released by pulling the trigger instead of Pickle/weapon release button? I guess you're already in A/A mode as you are getting a "shoot" message on your HUD, but is master arm set to "arm"? Also, does the trigger on your stick work/is your trigger input recognised by DCS (check control settings)? Maybe check if your trigger is mapped to 2nd trigger detent only and not to anything else in tandem.
  2. Never ever use engine oil for anything else than filling it into an engine! NEVER! Especially not for greasing something you're going to touch with your bare hands! Although fresh engine oil isn't marked as toxic, you will suffer signs of intoxication pretty fast after this stuff enters your body (nausea, bellyache, vomiting, etc.). Also engine oil can cause cancer and pneumonia. Again, never use it to lube something you are going to touch afterwards. Never! Use Nyogel 767a for your flight controls and you'll be fine.
  3. Thanks a lot for that link, i've been looking for something like this for some time as well. This is much appreciated. But are you sure on the inner dimension beeing 32mm? Because, according to the drawing, the outer measure is 34mm what would mean the plates are only 1mm strong, wich is very weak. In fact weaker than the housing of my WarBRD base. Compared to the threads beeing M5, the plates look more as if they are 3-4mm strong. If the measures on the image are correct, the inner dimension would rather be 26-28mm than 32mm... Cheers
  4. I'm totaly aware of that. And on the dogfight servers i join, BFM/ACM does in fact only start after you passed the other guy. Still, doesen't change the fact, that full sphere/over the shoulder capability is a significant game changer in a dogfight. There is a good reason why most of the next gen SRMs (AAM-5, A-Darter, Python-5, IRIS-T) contain this feature. As for CM resistance... All these modern SRM's have equal, or even better CM resistance to the 9X. So the IRIS-T will most likely be very diffcult to decoy. Also i assume that it is very hard to spot a over-the-shoulder launch with a smoke free engine while the missile going off to the opposite direction during the first 1 or 2 seconds. Facing a modern full sphere SRM, i think you'd have to pre-flare permanently if you want to have a chance to decoy it. Also if one believes (and there are a lot doing so) the 9X is the top notch of SRMs, one propably won't pre-flare as he won't expect (can't imagine) his enemy to launch a missile at him in this position. At least when facing such a SRM for the first tiime... Another thing is the IRIS-Ts capability of beeing used as hard kill protection system, capable of destroying incoming AAMs and SAMs. The IRIS-T has a extreme low minimum range (like all modern SRMs) and it's seeker head can be slaved to the typhoons missile detection system and, if i recall that correct, can also lock onto targets via RWR. Other missiles as well as aircrafts. So the pilot does not even need to look back in order to perform a over-the-shoulder shot at a target on his six using radar. This will make the Typhoon a very dangerous target to lock on to, and way more difficult to destroy than other aircrafts in DCS. You don't realy want to tell me, that this missile won't be a game changer in DCS dogfights? Do you? Assuming it's modeled accurate, it will be a significant advantage over the 9X. Like it or not. It's almost like you believe the 9X could equal the SRMs named above and as if the germans, israelis, the japanese and some others developed full sphere capability SRMs just for fun. You believe that stuff on Raytheon's homepage saying the AIM-9X beeing the most advanced IR SRM worldwide? While even the Block II variant is still limited to 90° off boresight and lacks hard kill mode capability? Please...At all parameters, the 9X is wether equal to other newer SRMs, or simply outperformed by them. IIRC there is not a single parameter the 9X has an advantage over other advanced SRMs. It's been a while ago when i searched for informations about these missiles, so correct me if i'm wrong. Hopefully, but tbh i rather think it will be like Terrorban wrote. Only very few PvP servers will ban the IRIS-T (same for the Meteor if it comes) and even less will ban the Typhoon in general. I'm a bit worried we will see a lot of PvP servers full of Typhoons because everyone wants to dominate the sky, but we'll see. So far i haven't read anything if TrueGrit will also deliver that ramjet Meteor missile with the Typhoon, wich would be the next Air-Air game changer...
  5. Oh you're right. My statement was not precise, but i think you got me wrong. I'm not interpreting the wip FM, i'm interpreting the confirmed performance of the real aircraft. And i'm pretty sure if this will be modeled accurate, there will be no aircraft in DCS that can compete with the Typhoon in close combat. Especially in combo with the IRIS-T missile. I.e. the Typhoon won all combat tests in the 2005 Singapore evaluation, including a 3 vs 1 dogfight situation with a single Typhoon defeating 3 RSAF F-16's with ease. Assuming both pilots beeing similar skilled, the F-16 is no match for a Typhoon in close combat. I'm not a ace dogfighter in DCS, but i know a bit about BFM/ACM and can stand my ground in the Hornet and the F-16. Flying the Typhoon (armed with IRIS-T) into a head on head merge, i'd fire a fox 2 over my shoulder prior to the enemy starts turning into me. One or 2 circle fight, high or low altitude/speed... who cares when equipped with over-the-shoulder missiles? Splash one before the fight even started for the bad guy. Slipping into a dogfight facing a Typhoon, i'd try to gtfo of it as fast as i can. The typhoon is a great aircraft and i will definately purchase it at a reasonable developement stage... but we will see what this jet will do to PvP multiplayer in DCS...I'm sceptic.
  6. Well then the FM seems to be inaccurate. IIRC the Typhoon is the only fighter jet in the world beeing able to perform 9g turns at supersonic speed up to Mach 1.5. The german air force prooved that at Mach 1.2, that's confirmed. Regarding to the Typhoon pilot interview on the fighter pilot podcast, the Typhoon has about the same thrust as the F-15C (while beeing slightly lighter than a Hornet) and can perform 9g turns while carrying 3 external fuel tanks. Also i believe TrueGrit will deliver the IRIS-T missile together with the Typhoon. The IRIS-T is one of, if not the most advanced IR-SRM worldwide. It has "over-the-shoulder-capability" allowing to attack targets in a sphere around the launching aircraft (only exception is directly below the launching platform afaik), has extreme close-in agility allowing turns of 60 g at a rate of 60°/s via thrust vectoring and outperforms the AIM-9X in various aspects. The IRIS-T can also be used in hard-kill mode, targeting and engaging incoming AAMs and SAMs, wich is unique amongst SRMs. I highly doubt that there will be anything in DCS causing problems to a Typhoon in close combat. Not sure if this will enhance DCS multiplayer PvP....
  7. The Iranians demonstrated a better way to do it. Encircle it with speedboats and fire RPGs at it. Like Indians firing arrows at surrounded settlers. :megalol:
  8. I'm using the Monstertech MFD mounts and i'm very satisfied with them. The have a type for left/right MFDs and a different one for center MFDs. The only issue is the price, i payed roughly 125€ for 3 MFD mounts including shipping. But i'm living in Germany where Monstertech is located, so shipping was peanunts. https://www.monstertech.de/en/product/mfd-tablet-mount/ The only thing you will need is either a Monstertech rig/desk mount, or a DIY solution using the same aluminium rails Monstertech uses. The stuff is easy to get and not too expensive, i payed like 30€ for a 600mm bar in black, wich is slightly more expensive than silver. They don't come with a thread like on the picture, i tapped them by myself. But i've seen online shops for these profiles offering threading as an extra service at checkout.
  9. Monstertech uses standard aluminium profiles, type Item 40 notch 8 (mostly 40mm x 80mm square, but also 80mm x 80mm). Item is the name of the manufactor, 40 means there is a 40mm space between the center of the notches, 8 means the notch is 8mm wide. The other major manufactor of aluminium profiles would be Bosch, those have a different shape of the notches and therefore of the nuts. Every Item notch 8 type nut will perfectly fit in your Monstertech mount, regardless what Monstertech told you. They propably meant, that if you purchase those Bosch type nuts, those wont fit. Nonetheless, great they send you some for (almost) free. But if you need some additional ones in the future, just google "Item 40 notch 8 accessories" and you should find plenty of stuff. Cheers
  11. One of the best In Flames songs imo In Flames - Rusted nail ${1}
  12. Also a very good one:
  13. Das ist nicht wirklich der richtige Thread für sowas. Probiers mal hier: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=204110
  14. So i used and tested the grip for a few days now and decided to keep it for now. It's kind of a mixed satisfaction as i'm used to the harder to press TM buttons and have to admit i like that, but i definately fell in love with the F-18CGRH. My trigger sounds a bit different than in the video Supmua uploaded, but i don't want to bug them because of one issue after another, wich propably aren't issues at all. I will keep an eye on it and if there are any issues, i'll get in touch with Realsimulator again. I'm not worried about future customer support if anything goes wrong. Maybe it only needs to wear in a bit, but after almost a week of using it for several hours/day(i'm on holidays :D), i almost don't recognise it anymore. Other than the highly sensitve weapons select switch. This will take some more time for me to get used to it. But i guess that's just how it is and i can live with it. Overall the grip is definately worth the money. I finally recieved my BLE dongle today. I ordered the CSR dongle Supmua suggested, but recieved an email later it was out of stock with unkown restock date. Annoyed me a bit as it was stated in stock when i ordered it. So studied the Realsimulator forum for reliable BLE devices and ended up with the ASUS BT400 dongle, as it seems to be one of the most reliable ones. Installation of the grip was a walk in the park and the connection seems to be stable. Just flew a 2 hour mission including AAR, BVR A-A, WVR A-A, A-G as well as carrier t/o and landing. No connection issues so far, i think/hope the ASUS dongle will to it. The weapon select switch sensitvity didn't change after connecting the grip via BLE module, but as i said, that's peanuts. Gamecontroller setup shows 2 F-18CGRH home devices (as mentioned in the user guide). What confuses me a bit is that on one device some buttons don't work, wich then work on the second device and vice versa. I guess i'll have to get a bit further into the user guide and the RS_HID tool. That will be a good read for the weekend. So far, i'm absolutely happy with the grip and don't regret my purchase in any way. The F-16SGRH is definately on my list, propably a SGLH version as well for playing Star Citizen. Now i'm not sure if i should keep my TM Hornet grip as a backup, or put it on ebay. I doubt i'll ever need it, but maybe production ends someday and they'll get valued (see TM Cougar HOTAS now). Not sure if that's an option. On the other hand i'm thinking about people that purchase their flight sim stuff on a limited budget. My TM grip is in perfect condition and i purchased it with a 2 year additional warranty, so has ~3 years warranty left in total. Unlike laying around catching dust, selling it for a reasonable price might make someone else very happy i guess. What do you guys do with your obsolete TM Hornet grips? Keep it or sell it?
  15. This somehow reminds me of early 2000's minimal techno. Neil Landstrumm, Christian Vogel and all those other Dj's having a similar style... those were the days. Party hard until 7 AM and then going to an after hour club, keep on partying :D This is what i sometimes listen to while just flying low level on NCTR. Also fits the topic
  16. Seems like prices have been increased on DCS modules in general. But that's definately a lot. In the german Steam store the Viper went from 69€ to 74€ today. I'm pretty sure it was still at 69€ yesterday. Thank god i got all modules i'm interested in for now...
  17. No problem, glad this helped you. Enjoy the Hornet, it's a great plane and a nice module!
  18. I had a short Email conversation with Realsimulator and they told me, that all/most of the grips have these little casting defects around the weapon select switch, more or less. They also assured me that this is in no way a stressed part and i shouldn't be worried. Reading a lot about their superb customer support, i doubt that they would lie to me. I'm still a bit worried about the trigger. It's not realy a deal breaker, i'm just not sure if this is as it should be. Hard to describe. I also figured out some issues with the weapons select switch. Pressing right easily ignites aft as well. It seems as pressing aft has a pretty large angle of activation, pressing right a pretty small one. Dunno if that's an issue, or if i just need to get used to it. I'm still not sure about keeping it, or asking for a replacement. I think i'll wait for the BLE dongle and then see what i'll be doing...
  19. Yep, better take a closer look on yours. Hopefully it's ok. To be honest, i don't even know in wich mounting position mine came. I have the bolts on the connector of my Virpil extension removed and just attached it without looking at the mount position. Email is already out, fingers crossed.
  20. Yes, Button 3 and 4 are the ones missing. That there is no friction on your trigger release makes me a bit worried, but i think i got a monday model anyways. Sadly i got to send mine back and ask for a replacement. I took a closer look to the switches and saw that the socket of the weapon selection switch is faulty. There are small holes that definately not meant to be there. It looks like as if there was not enough material on that spot when they casted the body.
  21. That'll be much appreciated. I flew a couple of minutes in the hornet and realised it's only 2 buttons not beeing recognised, so it's 17+POV (Button 3 and 4 missing). I was just a bit confused as the mappings were mixed up. I don't think it's a faulty grip, as the buttons are all recognised by the grip itself via the LED's. It's propably a software issue, or maybe the firmware. I'll have to wait for my BT dongle and get into the RS tool before i can say more about it. Will test it on my WarBRD base as well this evening, this will also be a good indicator if i can switch back to soft springs when replacing the TM WH by a Realsimulator F-16 grip. The friction on the trigger release isn't too intense, it just feels very strange compared to the TM hornet grip. But all buttons do, compared to the TM grip. They're not bad, just different and feel much more softer and fragile. I guess that's just something i have to get used to. The weight on the other hand is remarkable. I didn't expect such of a difference to the TM grip. Immediately switched back to the standard spring and it feels much better than with the blue spring + TM Hornet grip. I'm absolutely confident that there will be no issue with the T-50 base mounted to the bottom. I hope so much the trigger friction on release is meant to be this way, although it feels strange. The grip itself is great, i don't want to send it back and wait for a replacement.. However, i'm looking forward to your comparison between pre-serial and serial production model. I wonder about the differences and if you do also have the strange trigger release. Cheers and thanks a lot for your effort. Again.
  22. Just arrived and feels great. Just 2 things, the trigger has some friction when released, is it normal? And i have to figure out how to get get 19 buttons + POV on the TM base working until my BT dongle arrives. It only recognises 15 buttons + POV. But overall, i'm very happy with the grip. Got it attached to a Virpil 200mm extension and there is no twist, wiggling or anything feels loose. It attaches tight without play. Hope yours arrive soon.
  23. Not an expert though, but shadows generally have a high performance impact in games afaik. Try to reduce those or maybe turn them off. IMO shadows also have a huge affect on atmosphere and immersion, but better to sacfrice this than to have low fps. Maybe also set displays to 512 if you have them on 1024. Setting terrain textures to medium should also help with performance and it doesen't look too ugly i guess. edit: What may also help is deactivating VSYNC ingame and set it to "fast" in your NVIDIA control panel. This will give you better FPS, while reducing tearing effects to a level where they hardly can be recognised. Honestly i'd try this first, as your problem sounds as if you have a 60Hz screen and VSYNC activated. VSYNC synchronises your FPS with the frequency of your screen wich is why you get steady 60FPS on a 60Hz screen. As long as your PC is able to provide 60 FPS. IIRC If it can't do so, it reduces FPS to 30 (half of the screens Hz) in order to keep the synchronisation. When deactivating VSYNC ingame, your FPS are no longer synchronised to the screens frequency and you will get tearing effects due to non-synchronised images. To reduce these effects, set vertical synchronisation in your NVIDIA control panel to fast. This option will just delete non-synchronised images and reduces tearing effects to a very minimum so they hardly can be recognised. Cheers
  24. May i ask what length your extension has and how you mounted your T-50 base? I have the TM Hornet grip with a 35cm extension on a WH base and had to switch to Sahajs blue spring to make the stick recenter properly. I want to switch the WH base for a T-50 but would have to mount it to the bottom instead of the brackets. I'm worried that i'd have to use the heavy springs and may overstress the housing of the base...
