  1. Thank you for sharing, good to know it will be addressed.
  2. Apologies if someone has already brought this up. Is polychop monitoring thread? we could really use additional keybind options, as one of many examples I can’t even set master arm to On and Off separately for use with HOTAS Toggle switches. Only toggle. Without listing everything, I think this is self explanatory compared to many other modules numerous options.
  3. Anyone else notice the choppy rotor animation, it’s not smooth/blurred like other modules. Doesn’t bother me in flat screen but in VR it makes my brain think things are running in low frame rate and causes me a little motion sickness that I rarely experience. polychop, could we get a smoother animation here for VR?
  4. Thank you for all your contributions Tim. ED, any update here? Can we at least get an ingame checkbox that passes integrity check to use old model, or will this fully be resolved next update? I miss my Huey
  5. Tim is a rockstar and has given amazing input here! And that was before I just looped back to see several new posts. I saw notes for todays patch where we have two new WIP updates, but the wording did not seem very comprehensive… Is this still being worked on? A ways to go I presume? How are the improvements in this patch thus far?
  6. Thanks for the detailed reply. While I have no real world helicopter (let alone Huey) experience, I do feel frustrated at the half-baked change. Huey is my main, I love flying it. And it’s screwed up all my hard earned muscle memory and if it’s in error, knowing ED it could take months to fix… Maybe how hard I need to keep the cyclic pushed forward at speed is normal, then. But the whole package feels wonky now and I don’t want to relearn if it’s wrong and going to change again. The amount of power produced at half collective and high weight loads also seems odd. I don’t understand the specifics as well as you but I’m thankful for your input! Hoping this gets sorted.
  7. I came to see what other people thought of the engine update. Not a real pilot let alone a Huey pilot, but have years of experience flying it. Having a hard time keeping nose down now, or high collective and level flight. Need lots of left pedal for take-off. Landings feel different. It's screwing with my muscle memory. If this is an improvement that is more realistic I will take it, but are we sure this is correct?? I am not sure how to feel... maybe this is a "I don't like change" symptom, but since Huey is my main I will be upset if they went and changed it for the worse and it takes months to fix it now. Is it really suppose to feel this powerful?
  8. Voted number 2. 1 may as well be nevada or persian gulf - it doesn't show what the map is about. 3 is not clear, able to appear as simply another urban location that could even be mistaken for an area in Persian gulf. 4 is too "in your face" with a sole pyramid (alongside uninteresting lighting), and does not seem to capture a sense of scale for a region where pyramids feature. It could look like a scenery add on for one small region. 6 is the same as 3 - I can make out a small trace of the pyramid in the backdrop I believe, but easily mistaken for another generic urban location. This brings us to the top contenders, 2 & 5. 5 is "second best", I agree with the poll, but from a sales perspective this is also true. A great screenshot, but it primarily highlights architecture already found on many other maps and steals focus away from the pyramids. It wouldn't be a bad call, but for some reason seeing this screenshot makes me feel like "more of the same". 2 is the highlight here I believe, featuring the iconic pyramids that define the region without being overstated. They have a perfect proportion within the screenshot to communicate that they are a single feature in a large expanse. Ok, OnReTech, reward me for my contribution! On a scale of 1-6 (which seems fitting), 6 being the most likely, how likely is it that we will see the Sinai map launched with the next Open Beta release sometime in the coming month?
  9. A couple months later and here to say the same! I am grateful in VR settings we can choose between free mouse mode and VR HMD view-centered mode. I would really like a bindable option to quickly switch between these modes. Where I can just hit the button to recenter the mouse cursor in the view and have it track my HMD movements, or click and let it go free. The use case here is that I fly exclusively in VR. I have a mouse available to my right hand side, and I also have keybindings on my HOTAS for left/right click, mouse wheel scroll, and VR zoom. For a lot of functions I want to be able to quickly do this hands-free of the mouse just by looking and hitting HOTAS buttons. Especially in moments where it is not best to remove hands from stick. At other moments, it makes more sense when things are calm to just grab the mouse and fiddle about. Quick switching would be very helpful here. It would also be most helpful to get the ability to tie cursor movement to a hat axis in DCS. I have a Virpil alpha with 360 hat and it would be great to have an option to move the cursor around with that.
  10. At least, are all the previously available instant action & missions the same as Normandy 1.0? Nothing disappeared moving up to Normandy 2.0? I'd hope to see a great deal of IA/standard missions added to the Normandy 2.0 map. Seems a great map but the Channel map has WAY more IA/Standard Missions in all the different planes. Should we expect this anytime remotely soon?
  11. I have Normandy 1 + Channel. All on Steam. I tot the release news while I was out of town, saw it was available for $14.99 or $9.99. Decided to purchase when I got home. Now I am back and in Steam, the full price map and the two $14.99 upgrade options are there. When I go to the Normandy 2.0 upgrade option for owners of original + channel, the price is no longer listed and it can no longer be added to cart. So I can't purchase it. Is this a known issue? Anyone else seeing this? I'd like to purchase my upgrade and play it today... The listing is here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2399900/DCS_Normandy_20_Upgrade/
  12. I've been playing games and sims for 30+ years. DLSS is the real deal and works wonders. Look up videos and comparisons, I've tried it on multiple games with excellent results. Haven't tried FSR but I hear it also does a very good job.
  13. Ah ha, I did misunderstand! I'll be curious what you think of Rogue Squadron.
  14. I will add: - DLSS + FSR upscaling, including and especially in VR mode. - Enhancements to VR interface, such as the ability to hit a single button to swap between VR/Desktop modes while in game, including auto-switching graphics preset ala MSFS2020. Also, an option to prevent head from escaping the cockpit. - Ability to save progress mid-mission and/or checkpoints. I know this has been beaten to death but I am still befuddled by the absence of this. I love simming, but trying to learn the game and having a family and limited energy means constantly replaying the first 25 minutes of a mission only to keep dying when action engages can be grating.
  15. Yes, please take a cue from MS Flight Sim 2020 which nailed the VR swapping. You can bind a button (in FS2020 it's "F9") and you swap between VR mode and desktop mode. Adding to the slickness of that setup, you have two distinct graphics modes: desktop and VR. I know DCS World added saveable presets, this takes it up a notch. When in desktop mode the game auto reconfigures to your saved desktop preset, and hitting F9 swaps to VR and reconfigures to your saved default VR preset. No restarts needed, you can go back and forth at any time - including while in flight, seamlessly. This is high on my DCS wishlist.
  16. I would love to see *both* FSR and DLSS implemented as options, and usable in VR mode. FSR maximizes compatibility and DLSS maximizes quality. This upscaling, along with the move to Vulkan, would be game changing for the DCS VR experience. The absence of the ability to get better performance and higher fidelity is a big limiting factor right to the appeal of DCS World VR right now. I have a number of add-ons wish listed (Harrier, F18, Syria, etc.) but I am simply not interested in sinking more money into the game until the experience is improved to take better advantage of my hardware. It's not just eye candy - flying around in a low res VR space *is* fun... but I've experienced some other sims now and the immersion + fun factor is *much* higher with enhanced fidelity. As much as I love simming in DCS, I can't go back to 2D, and coming from other modern VR experiences to DCS VR graphics feels like moving backwards in time. If we see Vulkan, multithreading, and FSR & DLSS in VR all rolled in, DCS will be a monster of a sim, and I'll start buying add-ons again.
  17. Yup, 50% don't want it and have no experience. Try Rogue Squadron VR, this has limitation. Also, while very different, Half Life Alyx uses similar virtual boundaries to prevent clipping movements. Long & short: there are great examples out there which work very well. It should be implemented into DCS World, at the very least, as a toggleable option.
  18. Very much looking forward to Vulkan this year! My big question is, with the massive performance enhancements that AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS allow for, when can we see implementation into DCS in VR mode? As of right now, modders are tinkering with FSR in DCS World's VR with mixed success. Even better would be DLSS 2.1. It would be game changing to see Vulkan + DLSS 2.1 (or FSR) in the VR mode.
  19. Hi! This looks great. I have the steam edition with all modules on steam. Will there be a steam release in the future? Can’t wait to play!
