  1. Ever wondered how it looks like when a tank shoots at you? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=CpubL48Njpc
  2. The second video explains that the tanks are supporting infantry. There are also many videos with infantry included. Many times they drive around without them too though. I don't know how much they can actually see enemies in that environment. Probably most of the shots are guesswork. Too easy to hide in that rubble. Also too many videos of tanks blowing up due to IED's and RPG's. Though it's amazing to hear how many direct hits a tank can survive as that tankist explains. Watching some of the RPG vids it feels like the rebels have never heard of backblast. :D
  3. Excellent! Thank you.
  4. Thanks for sharing! Everything from the campaign to your screenshots looks great! Keep us informed about the compatibility at least. I will be more than happy to pay only 4.57 $ for a quality campaign! It's a shame that simming is such a niche market (let alone only BS2) that it's probably not worth it for them to continue making this campaign. Maintaining compatibility between all the DCSW version change must be hell and constant work. The only way to get more customers and spread the risk, I would assume, is to make a short 20 mission campaign for each DCS module, price them 5-10 $ and if on some module the sales are beyond expectations, they should do maybe some sequel for that particular module.
  5. I also had problems with the X52 Pro. Mostly twist rudder spiking but I think one of the sliders was inaccurate too. Sent it back and bought the CH Fighterstick first. With it you have to have rudder pedals though but I did not mind since the quality was superior to the X52. A month or two later I had saved enough for the CH Pro Throttle. Now I had a full HOTAS setup along with Saitek pedals. I've been so happy with them! Most people I've heard of are happy with their X52 but obviously the quality varies alot. Saitek pedals + CH Fighterstick would be around 225 to 250 $ if you find good deals. Saitek pedals were the only cheapo part in my simming hardware and I've felt it under my feet for a long time. When I tried to mod them a couple of weeks ago, I broke them and finally got a reason to buy quality pedals which would be the Komodosim ProAT pedals. I hope they're good. Should be for that price. The thing is that you get what you pay for. I don't think there are any hall sensors in X52. My problem had to do with a faulty twist pot.
  6. First you should worry about flying the helicopter. Pull full throttle, get forward speed and maintain 130 km/h. Cut off the broken engine as soon as you have helicopter under control. Don't worry about the fire extinguishers. They should be automatic. Only after you have; - pulled full throttle - established sufficient speed and flight direction - cut off the damaged engine - jettisoned stores you should start worrying about crossfeed and fire extinguishers. Read the fire extinguisher part of the manual to see which light you should check to verify if the bottle has discharged or not. I would do it in that order. Though I should refresh my memory from the manual before I start flying again in a few weeks.
  7. I do that, too, especially rolling it like a barrel-roll. Look into using the "Free Turbine RPM to Low" and set a button for it while rapidly moving the collective downwards. I drop like a rock. Then at about 150 meters I engage "Free Turbine RPM Nominal and up collective and watch the Up/Down gage. I am moving forward, though, usually rather rapidly. That sounds like a great maneuver! There's nothing to frown upon. Best pilots learn to get everything out of their machine to gain the edge over the enemy. I'll start experimenting as soon as I get my Komodosim pedals. :)
  8. I hope there wasn't a misunderstanding. I meant that if the datalink doesn't work, single player is "useless" because you can't command the AI. The AI in itself is bloody useless too for anything else than a decoy.
  9. That's a taxiway :)
  10. Here's a list: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=94741 The AI particularly along with the datalink makes single player pretty useless (I assume, haven't flown for a long time).
  11. Great photos Kusch! http://russianplanes.net/id100300http://russianplanes.net/id100300
  12. I find this important too. ED does fix and evolve the World but if they don't have the resources to completely finish their first product, I think they should reconsider their priorities. Don't bite more you can swallow. Same applies to every developer. They should be able to finish their products and give continued support for them. If the older products are left broken they risk losing their customers to 3rd party developers because of the distrust from us, the customers. While BS2 might not be the biggest money maker for you anymore, the product quality is directly proportional to your future sells.
  13. I just broke the gear part off the pot while trying to mount everything back after the mod. Don't ask me how. :D And I'm supposed to maintain jet engines in the morning... Propably not going get it glued back. Oh well now I have to live with the guilt my spouse makes me feel after I declared I want the Komodo pedals. Hard to justify myself to buy them let alone to her!
  14. Oh my god that would be fantastic! If the Cobra would be Vietnam era, I'd rather fly the Kiowa with a mast mounted sight! Gives a whole new dimension to sneaking. Kiowa + Huey would be an awesome team to aid the A-10C. Kiowa spots for the Hawg and shoots a Hellfire if necessary and the Huey rescues downed Hawg pilots.
  15. Wow great to hear! I'm not exactly sure which one I would like more. If the Cobra will be Vietnam standard, I would propably enjoy the Huey more with the sling loads and pilot SAR missions in multiplayer with the gunners and everything. Let's see how this evolves. Might buy both! Thanks for your increased activity and great news PilotMi8!
  16. Excellent pictures, thank you! What is that flexible shaft from the power turbine to the AGB?
  17. Which coordinate system did the mission planner use? Does changing this in ABRIS create problems with other systems? Thanks for info guys! Will definately use these when I reinstall my Windows this weekend.

  19. EvilBivol; does ED pay any attention to threads like the one Erforce created or is there any hope only through official bug reports?
  20. Very interesting guys. Don't be afraid of rambling A16. You bring invaluable real life information which can calm our perfect engine model assumptions. :) I don't know if I understood you correctly flankerOne and I don't know if some devs have checked the values already. The idle power and autorotation has been in discussion in the past. Maybe some dev checked it already or not? If someone of the developers could quickly tell us if it's all correct after past checks, we could stop beating the dead horse? If you could give us a quick info, we could spread the word in the future if the question arises again.

  23. +1 This is important not only for the enjoyment of us, Black Shark pilots, but also an important proof of quality for ED products if they still want the fame for top fidelity simulations. DCS World is supposed to be a simulation world where different product modules are connected. The modules need to be fully functional as intended as these are modules and not sequels where older versions can be dropped. Thank you for your support so far ED and please keep our Shark flying well serviced.
