  1. Read this: Warthog: Flying the A-10 in the Gulf War A very interesting and dirt cheap book. The Hogs were safest at night. The enemy couldn't hear them when above 5000 ft. Sometimes they got shot at by SAM's (SA-2) and the trick was to spot the motor flame before it burns out. I don't remember reading anything about MANPAD's at night but in daylight it was a different story.
  2. I think it was a nice doc. Worth seeing but I found Armadillo more entertaining for example. Also shows how inaccurate helicopter rockets can be.
  3. Pretty sweet for "just one test". The cannon sound is quite silly though for a gun that spits 100 shells per second. Carry on with the "test". :)
  4. Thanks for heads up!
  5. It works differently for Russian and American aircraft (I'm talking ground attack aircraft here). With A-10A for example the trigger always fires the gun no matter which weapon is selected. If you want to drop bombs, shoot the Mav or whatever then you use the weapon release button aka "pickle" which is different from the trigger. Also remember that for missiles you have to press the button for about one second before the missile goes off. For Russian it's more simple. The trigger does both guns and pickle depending on the weapon selected. One second missile launch delay affects Russian aircraft too.
  6. Russia to continue producing Su-25's? http://en.rian.ru/analysis/20101125/161501297.html Personally I think it's a good airframe with ancient systems. Unless they are really in a dire need of new airframes, they should wait and create an avionics upgrade program. Su-25SM is okay but still a bit outdated.
  7. This switch is for ground testing NAV/targeting system. No use in flight but it will do no harm either if it's on. So, - during manual start, don't turn it on, - but if it's on after automatic start, leave it on.
  8. That is awesome job man! I'm afraid I'll end up using it anyway, Russian or not. Too beautiful to miss. Glad to help and will help as much as I can with Russian text.
  9. ВНИМАНИЕ! ПРИМЕНЯТЬ КАССЕТЫ С ЗАВОДСКОГО И 501180551 It means: "Attention! Use cassettes with factory P/N(?) 501180551". The flight manual contains some great high quality detail pictures. Damn, I would be so grateful if you made the Russian version and I would like to even help. Hope something will be worked out in the future.
  10. Woot happy BDAY!
  11. Some random interesting pictures I found mostly on militaryphotos.net Russian thread. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Brazil---Air/AMX-International-A-1B/1817768/L/&sid=80bdd13611797850fb97a5dbd88b37da http://www.airliners.net/photo/Russia---Air/Mikoyan-Gurevich-MiG-35/1814932/L/&sid=80bdd13611797850fb97a5dbd88b37da http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iraero/Antonov-An-24B/1804678/L/&sid=80bdd13611797850fb97a5dbd88b37da
  12. The latest attack helicopter technology from Iran. Behold, Shahed! http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iran---Revolutionary/Shahed-285-A/1815960/L/&sid=acd4246c0a9f7cdbbd2d0ebf28d951e3 http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iran---Revolutionary/Shahed-AH-85A/1818931/L/&sid=df802e670c2773542d046aa29940e636
  13. I don't have to use any deadzone on my Saiteks. They are pretty precise and comfortable. No complaints unlike with X52 Pro which had major issues. I can't really compare to others as these are the only ones I've had but I'm happy with them. For quality, CH is always superior.
  14. Great stuff once again! Good to see some of the ancient models being updated to the 21st century.
  15. Squid and Aldo, Amen to that. Sometimes it's hard to figure what kind of brain process was behind some of the new features. While overall the sims got better, a question arises, why doesn't the ancient rule of thumb "don't fix what is not broken" apply here too?
  16. One Summer - Two Messerschmitts A 1 h 18 min documentary about the two airworthy Bf-109's in the world. Minimal music, just pure Daimler Benz roar. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQvvkYyb2iU&feature=related
  17. Aww, I really hope someone will take on the task. Flying a russkie bird with english cockpit and betty ain't an option. Looking great man! Keep it up.
  18. This isn't Avenger but 20 mm Vulcan found on F-18, F-15 etc. Nice pics.
  19. Shouldn't we continue using the existing thread? That's a pretty scary situation. Luckily no fatalities this time. Such things have happened before with much worse consequences. Like here: http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19960706-0 Fan sections have pretty good debris containment systems but I don't know about the turbine section on that engine.
  20. Yeah totally agreed. I hope not fixing major bugs in older modules won't become a habit for ED. There are several things very wrong right now. By the way, is it possible to do the campaigns online in co-op? I've never thought of it or seen any posts about it. Unless either AI will be fixed or online co-op will be possible, unfortunately, I'm not touching the campaigns for which the creators have spent a terrible amount of effort. :/
  21. Correct. My photos of a beautifully preserved 109 in Utti.
  22. This chick has more balls than any of us.
  23. This one is easy guys. Not a rare plane at all.
  24. Insane wild hamster in Russia. :D Contains swearing in Russian. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=b6b_1288909573&c=1#comments
  25. Yak-50 dead engine field ditching.
