  1. Can definitely see the sluggish maneuverability, but stable high speed in this video . Looks awesome.
  2. I’m only aware of finding it via f10. Would be nice if you could request it in radio comms.
  3. Switch to gunners seat and put ai pilot on hover or orbit
  4. After a lot of consideration, looking around at different products forever, I bought a handful of virpil items. Hopefully it doesn't take months
  5. Omg I need more money.
  6. Are thrust master products even available?
  7. Stored heading is better than sliced bread
  8. That did it, that was the cause of it. I changed laser code off of the UAV code to my own code and was able to self-laze just fine. Thanks I knew it would be a silly oversight
  9. This might well be my issue. I just downloaded the updated version of TTI and tried another go at it. No matter what I do, the 65E goes towards the "next" waypoint designated target, even if I don't select waypoint designate. I think it's as you say because I'm using the mission file laser code for the UAVs! I didn't even think of that. I'll try again in a few. You sir may well be a genius.
  10. Which side are you attempting to receive fuel from, left or right basket? I could be mistaken but I thought the right side was bugged.
  11. Will do Hmm. I must be doing something wrong there as well. Need to go back and double check instructions
  12. Yes I’ve gotten this far, but can I get the tgp to slave to this position?
  13. I haven’t played every sim in existence, but I’ve played quite a few and have yet to find a match to ED’s FM’s. They are wizards. There’s a popular sim out there that is considered the standard amongst civilian training that I need to try once it goes back on sale. But I still get the sense that we are entering into the nitpicking realm because EDs work is so phenomenal. The Kiowa is nearing release supposedly and PC hasn’t even gotten the dimensions of the smoke grenades/m4 on dash correct yet. I don’t like being so critical of these guys but the Kiowa is a big deal to me and a lot of people. anyways, off topic. Just watching wags fly the hind around Latakia has me pumped
  14. Thanks I’ll get back in the hornet and review my workflow. One thing, I may have been pressing weapon release at 10 miles. Would that have caused the Mav to use the hsi targeting data over the tgp?
  15. Giggity!
  16. I searched through recent pages and didn't see anything related, sorry if this is a common question. My reference material is this video https://youtu.be/hYTjje-owv4?list=PL3kOAM2N1YJc5x-z99XdX-XxWg4I0Of-a&t=103 around the 1:43 mark. I'm not positive that Chuck's guide is updated with the new 65E updates. Information on setup before my issue: I'm flying on persian gulf, using the through the inferno mission generator. I navigate to my ground targets using HSI waypoints. 65E is warmed up. Master Arm on. A/G mode on. FLIR on. LTD/R is on. Left DDI is Stores page. Right DDI is FLIR. I select MAV on Stores page. UFC, enter code. On HSI I select waypoint designate to position my TGP to the target area. When target is in visual, I press SSS right to select FLIR as soi. TDC maneuvers the reticule to my target tank. SSS right twice for point track on tank. TDC depress for lock. I press SSS left to set MAV page as SOI. At this point, according to the instructions video, my MAV should AUTOMATICALLY uncage and lock onto the TGP target. Mine does not. I press uncage manually, and the MAV will acquire a target. But when I fire the weapon, the MAV shoots towards the Waypoint Designated target and not the TGP target that I designated using SSS. I.e., the waypoint designate has my MAV shooting a URAL even though my FLIR page has a TANK targeted. There's something I'm doing wrong that is making my HSI send the targeting data (waypoint) to the MAV and not the TGP itself. I need the waypoint designate option to get the TGP on target efficiently. But there's something I'm missing in between. Should I press the Undesignate button on the stick? Thanks for insight. If this isn't enough information and you need a track file, I'll try to do one later tonight or tomorrow. An additional question: Can I slave the TGP to the JHMCS targeting position on the HMD? Or is that not implemented yet in the F-18 and I'm thinking of the F-16? Thanks
  17. Cool info here. So 360 scan in A/A mode with 8km range so unless I'm a bit slow we're talking a scan covering 16km. A pair of apaches flying hidden could cover quite a lot of territory with that A/A scan and radio intercept information to friendlies. The other thing I was wondering, the Northrup Grunman website that was linked her stated the FCR could provide the "location and classification of up to 256 simultaneous moving and stationary targets. From these, the system then prioritizes the top 16 targets for immediate evaluation and, if desired, engagement by the aircrew." Am I to understand that these 16 priority targets are basically like a set of TWS track files that would allow the apache to ripple fire 16 L-model hellfires? If so that would make for some really interesting scenarios too.
  18. I think the “through the inferno” mission generator has a Huey troop insertion mission where you land under fire to practice air assault. I’m assuming there’s similar missions for the hip.
  19. I know it’s a sore spot but my understanding is kiowas got canned because apaches can do their job just as good. Not saying I know for a fact that that’s true, just assuming that if we’re simply talking NOE flight and ninja lazing I bet the Apache can do it just fine in terms of DCS. Yeah being lazed onto the Sam by the fast mover would be sweet. Pair of F18s or whatever with targeting pod lazing from long ways off. Can get some good use out of the Apache while it’s in EA as an A model that way, or if for some reason the FCR wouldn’t be able to pick up the target. Or simply having f18s perform SEAD, others provide cap, and apaches go in to take out tanks and troops would be a nice mission. lots of fun scenarios can be done cant freaking wait lol
  20. Wikipedia says the K and L model hellfires currently in use have 8,700 yd range. So that’s 5 miles publicly. Like I said I had forgotten the number and was just typing from memory. thanks for the insight into the other stuff though
  21. Interesting, thanks for the insight. Plus there’s that unfortunate video of the Apache doing a high altitude Return to target and bouncing the aircraft off the ground.
  22. I don’t understand. Why is it too early? The Apache is supposedly releasing in EA by the end of this year (though I think we’re all expecting a delay). Chuck is a hero
  23. Ok hmm, even if it’s an 8km detection range and no capability to send targeting data electronically, technically you could still sneak a team into enemy territory undetected , detect enemy aircraft, and then radio BRA to friendly planes. Assuming friendly awacs can’t see the area. I know the hellfires have a medium range of like 7-11 nm. Cant remember exact number. But presumably you could find a hidey spot and then laze targets from further away than that to help fast movers deliver payload. That’s a buddy laze thing though not FCR related. Just thinking about scenarios
  24. I’m confused as to why apaches and Kiowas can share targeting data but they can’t share with jets. Is it a compatibility issue? As the poster stated, the lack of link16? oh and I didn’t realize it had such a short (8km) range
  25. First what does FCR stand for? Since it’s a dome I assume it’s 360 degrees that you can look at? Or no? Is it ground radar only, or air as well? Or does it behave differently than I would expect given experience with dcs jets? Would it be reasonable to assume a decent Apache (or Kiowa for that matter) pilot in multiplayer could maneuver to a forward position , hide amongst trees and buildings, and provide datalink radar for ally jets? Apache team or Apache/Kiowa could roll into badguy land , take out some Sam threats, then provide forward radar coverage for friendly jets when awacs isn’t available. is this correctish? I also assume that the longbow could find a nice hidey spot, light up the sams with his radar, and transmit the targeting data to f18s, 16s, a10s?
