I almost always manual start the M-2000, but only if I can skip the ridiculous INS alignment. If I played multiplayer, and if that system was forced, I'd probably just skip it and leave it off lol. 8 minutes. PFFFT.

I can barely refuel the Mirage during the day, and it's a struggle. Seeing how many comments mention that better equipment makes it easier is a relief because it honestly seems impossible to do it reliably with my old TWCS throttle and T16000 flight stick. I know upgrading my rudder pedals from crap thrustmaster budget stuff to the MFGs it was a HUGE different in yaw control in all of my modules. So I'm a singleplayer guy and I've put hours and hours in the F-18 and the M-2000 trying to AAR and I've only topped off the F-18 once, and I can refuel the M-2000 but just barely, with several disconnects and reconnects, and only during the day.

The F/A-18 doesn't model the seat movement? Well that's a bit disappointing. I'd consider the F/A-18 and the F-16 ED's flagship modules (yes yes I know they are early access, not finished, blah blah). Edit: And 2 seconds after I type this I remember the Ka-50 and the A-10. Lol. Ignore my post!

The mirage models the seat moving up and down.

Fight for Honor - A Folds of Honor Charity Event
S. Low replied to M0ltar's topic in Tournaments & Events
Signed up. I don't fly online but I'll make an appearance for a charity tournament. -
Lol those system specs though. TOP TIER :D

They didn't make any instant action missions yet :/ disappointing but bignewy confirmed the missions are being designed as we speak
-
Sigh. Hey BN, can we get a timeframe? I realize there's this big editor there that is a powerful tool, but editing missions just isn't my thing at all. Feels like work. Is there any timeframe on at least the instant action missions? I assumed stuff would be completed prior to the launch of the map. I'm kinda considering refunding it on steam and buying it later when people have missions on it.

My current favorite jet for the past several months is the mirage. But the hornet really does give you a ton of options and different ways to play this sim. I think hornet is good to start with, then get some extra stuff if you get bored of it.

What the, leveling up in a sim? Hell no. Get that crap outta here. Just increase the G tolerance.

F-14A on the 19th? *wink, wink, nudge nudge*
S. Low replied to Southernbear's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I'm still assuming 2021. But I'll be glad to be proven wrong. -
Looks to me like it flies like a pig. A big fat flying tank that pukes rockets. I'm game.

Can You Fly AND Fight in the Hind Completely From The Front Seat?
S. Low replied to Bearfoot's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
Well there you have it. -
Well you tell the pilots that to their faces. I don't care about the forum slander. I just know I'm a single-player pilot so if modules are made that have two seats there had better be intuitive ways to utilize the AI, sort of like the F-14 Jester. But hopefully better than jester because he can be a turd most of the time.

Every time a fighter pilot plays this game (that I've seen) they say the g tolerances are too low. ED has said they are looking into revamping the system. I'd say this answers OP's question.

Can You Fly AND Fight in the Hind Completely From The Front Seat?
S. Low replied to Bearfoot's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
Aren't the hind's systems all fixed forward? Or does the cannon swivel a bit? If it swivels, then all you need is the pilot ai to hold altitude in a line or an orbit so you can operate the gunner for a bit. If you've ever seen Apache guncam vids from the middle east, they are typically orbiting from a long ways off. That would be easy AI pilot functionality I'd say. -
Something Mover said comes to mind in response to this comment: "No single-seat fighter pilot has ever said he wished he had a WSO." Not sure that's a direct quote but that's the gist.

There are things that irritate me about this sim, but the constant pessimism is nothing but doodoo. Yeah I pre-ordered MSFS2020 and I am excited about it even though civilian aviation bores me. I'm excited to see the real next gen graphics, map technology, and weather engine. But I really doubt I'll spend more time in msfs than dcs in the long run. I'm more excited for another sale to pick up the f-16, and to get the syria map, and eventually the hind and the apache and the dynamic campaign module and so on and so on.

I'm jumping in as a related issue. Since upgrading my computer and overclocking my RTX 2080 I am now getting crashes. Temperatures are fine. Does DCS have issues with overclocks then?

Angle of Attack importance during and after landing.
S. Low replied to -NMS- Ikaros's topic in M-2000
Yeah, I had that wrong. Chuck's guide on page 76 labels those brackets as "Glide slope bracket." I just double checked Razbam's manual and you're right, they label those brackets as AoA guide. That clears it up for me, thanks! -

S. Low replied to -NMS- Ikaros's topic in M-2000
Yeah I align the FPM with glide slope brackets and acceleration chevrons as you've indicated there, but I wasn't sure if I should be double-checking my AoA tape or not, or if there was another AoA verification method.
