SpOng: I think you should really concentrate on getting that CPU and MB.. Your just going to waste your money by doing this in half measures... If your in school, the summer will be here shortly, get your self a little job and try to put some money away.. Until you have enough to do it right .. My rig cost over $3000.00 USD, but I can get screamingly fast frame rates with just about everything on high settings..not that you'll need to spend that much.. And that's not counting the investment in controllers, which by the way should last me a lifetime without further investment ... But the need to upgrade a PC for flight simulation is usually 2 to 3 years.. Its just something to think about Guy... ~S~ Blaze

I'm not going to see these disks for the next 3 to 4 weeks anyway.. And by the time I get it installed it'll be even longer... I'm not concerned with this anyway.. The plan is not going to actually install this on my gaming rig for some time yet... I'm just curious and want to get some first hand experience, so when I do think its time to run Lock On or BS or what ever comes after that,:lol: I'll have a better understanding of procedure... ~S~ Blaze

This is the continuing Vista saga :lol: I hadn't heard anything from Microsoft since the e-mail from last week... So I thought I'd take the bull by the horns and give them a call this time.. I really wasn't looking forward to this because the last time I tried this I was on the phone for three hours and didn't really get anywhere.. But seeing as it was early in the day and I felt energetic, I was confident that I just might reach some kind of closure... I called the Technical Upgrade Department in Indiana and finally reached a real person this time by going through the options menu.. I actually have 2 OS upgrades to upgrade, XP pro 32 and 64.. Well this time I reached some one that seem to be willing to help and I tried to be as nice as possible, I did want to alienate anyone at this point.. So after going through the whole world looking for my orders (and I'm serious about that) the orders just weren't there... This actually took about 40 mins to reach this point... The person at MS confided in me that they haven't even begun to ship any OEM's, so no one else has them either.. The women then said that she was going to have to resubmit the orders and would need to get the approval form her supervisor.. She then proceeded to contact him after which I was told that yes I can resubmit the orders... I went into my other system and pulled up the Newegg invoices and read off the order dates... I then gave them the COA bar codes no's for each system along with my credit card information.... Now all I had to do then was send out copies of my Newegg reciepts along with the the MS order no printed at the top of the each sales reciept which I did.. Well I'm finally beginning to feel like this is actually going to happen... Wheeeww.. ~S~ Blaze

Ok I just got a chance to view the Vid.. Its very nicely done.. IMO OF is the best version of Falcon to date... The good news is that I really like the way that they've updated the MFD to show color.. And of course the clickable cockpit and avionics are unapproachable to date.. Now for the bad news it appears that they're still using ayae's 2D pit and it also looks like its not TIR4 6 DOF compatible.. So for those reasons I'm not too happy with it... And of course the graphics are still very dated (ex. missile explosions).... But that is just some minor flaw's the avionics in this thing are just incredible and outshine everything else here.. And for that reason OF Rocks... :thumbup: ~S~ Blaze

I've been using my Cougar for 4 years and I just modded it last year.. There were some issues with the initial release, but most of these were addressed over the years... IMO I really like the precision that I get with IJ's next mod.. As well as Cub Pilots Hall sensor kit that I installed in the throttle.. So yes there are a lot of Virtual Pilots here that use the Cougar and of course there are some that actually hate it... But as you mentioned it is expensive... ~S~ Blaze

That's possible, but I don't feel disappointed if it doesn't help... As you know Lock On is more CPU oriented then GPU... so if you wait you might get a good price drop on a Core 2 duo with MB... Anyway that's my 2 cents worth... LOL ~S~ Blaze

In New York the whole area is noisy, noisy, noisy... Whether it's cheap housing or not... It's just something that you're accustomed to living with..The standard of living is very high in this area, but noise is just one of the problems that confront an Urban environment . Anyway I used to work on the flight line . We had to wear ear protection, That was a NAVAIR requirement... And the Navy used to test our hearing once a year as well... ~S~ Blaze

I'm running a Intel compatible MB (Asus Commando) It has an intell chip set so its rock solid.. I had tried a Asus 680i mb with my present CPU but had a lot of issues... I'm actually running a BFG Geforce 8800 GTS its the high end with 640MB ... But I'm going to go with the new ATI in crossfire when its released.. I like this GPU but there are some issues that are adherent to it that need to be addressed... I have the 6800 ultra on my older system and I think it was a great card in its time by the way.... ~S~ Blaze

This reminds me when I was a kid and still in school they had actually tried to ban the Concorde from landing at Kennedy Airport ... There were partitions being circulated every where to Ban it.. But in the long run it was allowed to fly there anyway... But even till this day the are some very large airports in the area that have quite a bit of loud traffic.. But probably the worst noise was on that infamous day was 9/11/01 ... When I witnessed a couple of very late F-15's going to afterburner at a very low altitude heading for the burning towers... ~S~ Blaze

Thats sounds like an excellant idea.. But from where I'm sitting I don't think that we'll see anything along these lines for quite some time.. After BS goes gold, Who knows what or how long the first stand alone sim from ED will take to happen... ~S~ Blaze
