Why is this, its annoying as FK when learning a jet or forgetting something. Oh I will just check YouTube....no you wont, you shut down all apps to preserve maximum performance to DCS...now turn DCS off and remember! PS I have Track Ir running in the background and that doesnt help. Can it be changes or is it inherent to something?

How does this work? If I wanted them to make up those RS232 boards to daisy chain Nano's for DCS Bios, would they get the parts and build the boards and ship them if I designed them and listed the components? or does it not work like that?

So we only need wings to fill full of fuel and hang ordnance off!

Thats where I went mate, the forums complain things take too long so they release EA, then they complain that EA isnt complete or now completed fast enough. I get sick of listening to it and i would imagine ED and Third Parties to do too. I was thinking about this the other day, it must be more difficult to code a virtual targeting pod that the actual thing, because at least with the real pod it doesnt have to simulate a virtual building, bridge, tank etc, these pods are simulating a pod reacting to a simulated world. Bonkers!

If you have been sat on a broken kitchen chair for a while I can only imagine $3k might be better spent elsewhere.

Are there any benefits? I would assume it takes up less space and is easier to fit into a simple enclosure like everything else on the aircraft? I wonder if Typhoon is like that: https://reiser-st.com/files/images/hero-images/Components/Typhoon%20HOTAS/Typhoon-Hotas-Web-gro%C3%9F-2.jpg

Freaky its been 6 years, I remember when you started posting as nobrot, reminds me of the UK TV show "The Office" but when I clicked this I thought it was an update, not that 6 years had passed.

Which throttles are linear IRL?

Sorry but what is the relevance of this post? Are you asking if it appears you are looking through mesh or are you saying a Pimax 5k plus is better without seeing the Reverb? They are both a similar price so are you saying pimax is better?

Out of interest, when would you use this? In DCS I mean, I havnt considered them in my simpit.

I dont think its about "1 pilot winning a war". So lets say that over the next month the Red Forces are going to try and assault from the sea and the mountains Sochi-Adler as a key port and way to cut off the Blue Forces reinforcements to the East thus cutting the warzone in half and Bluefor needing to provide airlifts to the east. You can take missions from CAP to defend attackers of your ship defences to CAS for attackers of your Land Defences and anything in between. Where you dont take a mission, AI can fly it and the outcome is what it is. If you fly a couple of successful missions as a pilot on CAP they become more skilled and therefore more likely to win when you pass them over to AI whilst you try and get another pilot up for CAS, likewise if an AI survives a few battles they get better and you may chose not to send them on certain missions to protect them for others. The whole thing is more than just one person changing a war, and if you dont own a module, tough, you have to assign AI to fly it!

Mate I used to buy the windscreen and canopy for the EFA Typhoon and whilst I admire your drive, it will not be easy if possible. The professionals scrapped a lot and were using laminated plastic designed for the job. Honestly you would be better looking for one on Ebay or something. You will need to heat the acrylic uniformly but bending it through such angles is almost impossible as the outside of the acrylic will stretch and the inside will need to compress hence the real canopies are laminated. I wish you luck and look forward to seeing how you go, its always worth giving a go!

I loose them too, have several "golden" profiles saved in several other areas of my drives.

I looked at buying a rig 10 months ago and did the price checks, turned out about $4000 AUD, main parts being the 2080TI and an i9 9900k. I didnt really need to upgrade just then so sat on it, looked again now 10 months later, the same Rig is still about $4000AUD. Would you expect prices to remain the same for 10 months or do you think it will only reduce when it becomes an older model? Is there a lack of competition? Or do you just say at some point you have to buy the gear and unlucky if it is superseded the next day?

Awesome posts guys, truly big thank you for the time to respond and I have read all the comments. Im not a huge FPS / graphics grabber, flew quite happily at 25-30fps at 1080x1920 and just bought a RTX2060 which pushed the FPS up to 90 and it didnt make any difference to me. I think I will still build the pit and go for VR especially if i can pop it up or remove the nose guard on start up then rely on muscle memory (although my touchscreen UFC will be useless!).

I know this is a very personal preference but I have come to a stage in my home cockpit build where I am really starting to consider VR. I probably mainly play at my desktop games like Anno1800, slow paced city sims, then its DCS and I dont fly for 100's of hours. I have all the parts for my pit except a 4k TV and the new PC which I have the money for. My Pit will sit in a room away from our main house, the 4K TV I need for the Pit may get used every day, perhaps an hour or so, or maybe not. My new PC I dont want to have permanently linked to a 4k TV I dont use if I can use it as my desktop so I am thinking about moving the computer to my pit just to play DCS when I want to, it doesnt sound great. If I finish my pit in the current state I have a decent computer linked to a decent TV that doesn't get used much, or I start to move my PC and TV when I want to fly. I dont like the thought of it. Finally, I just got really into dog fighting with guns and TIR5 is p1ssing me off with all the blind spots to the point I hate it. So what am I left with? Well I need to upgrade the PC and have the money, I am going to do this. I can donate my PC to my boy to add to his XBOX/PS4 and then PC needs. I can play my city builders and strategies on a new monitor but get a VR headset for FPS, Racing and Flying... Out of interest, I enjoy flying 1080p - how much worse is VR?

That is tidy AF!! I am going for the touch screen for the UFC and the color map display, it is not going to look as neat as yours that is for sure. Nice work Guppy.

Hey mate I had some issues with nano, I had to go into the Arduino IDE and select Tools>Processor>AT Mega (old bootloader). I have no idea if it will help you :)

Sorry if this has been asked but I dont recall it. I was reading on a post about braking, ie, the process of pressing the wheel brakes on landing, that the F/A-18 throttle has some mechanical intervention with weight on wheels and the idle setting, IIRC with WOW idle throttle is 65% once you get over that a mechanical pin extends to prevent you going below that. Can anyone comment on that? It may be a development opportunity for Wingwing if they were unaware?

I think we are talking about the same things, we are buying a new one now and its 6 months plus to build it.
-
I would be keen to pay more but some people just cannot afford it so perhaps a voluntary donation system, an opt out of air miles or donate air miles back into DCS world or some kind of reward where you can get your name on a building or some crap! I think there are many members who can pay more than others where the cost is just not an issue, or not as big of an issue. Hell I just got conned into a $34 season pass for game that cost me $80 bucks and is set in 1800 and is less than 6 months old, i would rather have put that towards DCS as I play DCS much more!

We have military visits at work, common military thinking is you blow up the transmission systems, not the power stations. Obviously WW2 was a little different, perhaps bigger....but in reality if you are wanting to overthrow a government or give a tribe/religion a bit of a shooing then you dont want to leave people without power for the 3 years it takes to fix a power station or rebuild a dam. Knock out the power lines and you get the same impact for the 6 months of the war. However, you can watch the British sureing up a broken dam on UK news channels at the moment, pretty impresive pilot skills and good to show the military do provide humanitarian services as much as war fighting!

I was flying with 8 bombs and 4 targets, first one hit, second one above 25kft missed with the same kind of problem (the TTI was 35 seconds when I was only a mile or so out), back down to 20kft and targets 2 and 3 hit perfectly then launched that last 4 at one go and they all homed in on the poor T90's hatch! Great fun to have a tpod finally even though its still WIP, I do wish though I would stop pressing the bloody uncage button instead of pickle, my muscle memory is warped, all lined up, ready, release cue....press uncage...wtf...damn it....

Oh sorry I see what you mean! Good call.

Chill out, they are only asking a question? Or have I missed something sinister?
