Thanks for the update. Is the Forrestal at all dependent on ED Carrier API or anything affected by the supercarrier? Specifically shooting to see if HB was able to solve the deck sliding issue and/ or cat launch issues that got much worse in 2.5.6. And any chance of F-14D? Jk

Subscription? No way. I could see something like a charge for the base game (maybe for online play) to include something like FC3, the Supercarrier, and Combined Arms for something like $50

Always in multiplayer this time on startup after a couple carrier traps. Played fine in single player night mission (love those need to do more).

Bought the LANTIRN on the sale. Should be a nice project in a couple weeks.

DCS keeps crashing entirely only in the F-14 in 45317 in multiplayer. It's always in mid flight (once I was beginning the Case I pass), usually about 10 minutes or so in. The game does NOT crash with the ED F/A-18C Hornet only in the HB F-14B Tomcat AFAIK. I've adjusted my page file from default setting to 16GB to 32GB without effect (it was a Hail Mary). It did not crash in the F-14 in single player missions I created before openbeta when I was still on 2.5.5 stable. My first experience with 2.5.6 was not good and could not even launch DCS in VR. What throttle are you using and are you using custom curves or not? In addition to standard inverse, I just pulled the curve enough to not engage the burner until it I pulled up the detents which has worked perfect until this latest change so was quickly noticeable since I can hear the burner in the Tomcat so easily. Since my games in the Tomcat keep crashing I've been playing the Hornet the last 3 days, though.

I didn't know about the workaround until yesterday. Before that I was avoiding the carrier or going to the back of the boat and doing afterburner short launches. Since 45317 game randomly crashes for me mid flight in the Tomcat, but not with Hornet. This might not be widespread but happens every time since the latest patch. Begs the question if there's a known bug and workaround I haven't been able to find yet... Could ED maybe put up a web page or even sticky forum post with known bugs, ETR and workarounds or mitigation?

I was able to get this to launch by holding down the nose strut switch after connection and then saluting. Unfortunately still experiencing DCS game crashes to desktop since build 45317 only with the Tomcat it appears, but not with the Hornet. I submitted a ticket with 3 crash logs.

Kinda depends what they mean by "fully support." As long as it can trap and launch (most basic functionality). If I can't launch (like now in 2.5.6 on the Stennis), I'll be most displeased. If I'm still sliding around, I'll be most displeased. If the ground crews are slightly off when hooking up the shuttle, launch bar, etc, I could live with that (as long as it doesn't inhibit basic functionality). If the ATC comms stays fragmentary or LSO won't tell me to add power, I could live with that for awhile too.

Staged approach would have seemed wiser in retrospect. Come out with Forrestal that's analogous to the current Stennis. No deck crews just basic traps and cat launching and current ATC. Then Saratoga and Ranger analogous to the ED Supercarrier. Then Independence as their ultimate with their own know how and tweaks on top of it (possibly backported to the other 2 or 3 when all is said and done though maybe leave Forrestal as a basic platform).

Very true, though that wouldn't have nearly as much to do with the engine instruments, stick position, or even the F-14A for ex. None of those particularly matter to me as much as the cat not launching or the deck sliding thing. Both of these may well be ED issues and have nothing to do with HB, though the perhaps HB could at least throw us some wheel chalks like ED did with the Hornet in the meantime.

Just had a crash in MP when I was going to do the flyby for Case 1. I told it the OK on the popup dialog screen (which was on the repeat window on my monitor, not visible in VR)... not sure if that automatically sends or not. Oh and something changed on the F-14B throttle curves. I have a Virpil MongoosT50CM (v3) with the 3d printed detents and I was in low AB in mil power and had to adjust my curves from -25 to -18 before lifting my levers or the ABs were lighting.

That needs to be a sticky or something. I stayed on 2.5.5 for a long time to avoid these issues but haven't been able to cat launch since 2.5.6 (including latest). I had tried steps 1 and 2 though not 3, so will try that next. I've been going to the back of the boat and doing a short afterburner takeoff lol
