  1. Already one of the most fun mods in DCS. Can't wait for new cockpit.
  2. Ah hmm maybe not. You can do them with sequence commands in Voice Attack, though.

    TWS-Auto

I never noticed Jester scanning off the side before, but did notice this in MP Aerobatics.
  4. I mostly drive though wouldn't mind trying the back seat. I've asked a few times on Aerobatics and no one accepted. Communication is an issue. Rather than force people to use Discord, etc would prefer they have a crew chat channel but ED would need to do that and don't have a plane with multi-crew so may not see the need yet. With Random people on the Internet, I've had the issue where they bail and I'm not even sure, though with the current bug Jester doesn't come back. Made me learn how to set Tacan and the radios from the front seat, with more than a couple references to the kneeboard, but it all worked out. As it is, I mostly practice on long waypoint missions I created both day and night and drop to back seat once I'm level and at altitude. I've noticed that Jester doesn't turn on his oxygen and all lights are off so usually need to set that up first in the air. Now that we have TWS Auto I'll have something else to play with.
  5. Should be mappable like every other keybind. Having played the F-14 for awhile I would probably map Shift U on the Hornet and not use the F8 menu at all and would use Voice Attack otherwise.
  6. Is there a reason we can't put smoke pods on stations 1B or 8B? I like to run with a LANTIRN and TCST pod on aerobatics, but would be nice to run 4 smokewinders now and then. Read somewhere in the docs should be able to run 4 but not finding it right now. Was it in the EA manual?
  7. This has happened to me on last two builds of 2.5.6 including last night on Aerobatics Online. I did learn how to tune both TACAN and the radios from the pilot seat finally, though. ;)
  8. Anyone ever give thought to the mechanism that would be needed for a moving wing sweep handle, if not auto throttle? If building a replica simpit, $800 itself is approachable though I'd be concerned about longevity.
  9. 47224 fixed the cat launch issues. Everything was shifting around. Almost like it was choppy water but much more erratic jumping. Still had the issue where it pitches up hard right after the cat launch, though. Flight model felt a bit different, too when I was coming in for a Case I.
  10. I thought I was having graphical glitches when that happened, too. Turning on oxygen is not mentioned in the startup tutorial or in the Jester Assisted checklist... I've noticed Jester never turns on his oxygen, either.
  11. The new salute command is in the F8 menu. So probably no real change for us with the F-14.
  12. An aggressive Alert 5 Maverick salute would be cool. :D
  13. Still the 14th Pacific Time, so I won't get discouraged for another 15 hours or so.
  14. IIRC the leading theory is that it's related to the wing sweep and losing sync with the changes to the air model. I also saw myself the track got lost with the Jester Menu, as well.
  15. Most of the time I've seen it most acute my engines have been off after a carrier trap. Usually waiting for a bunch of people to congregate and/ practice a carrier cold start and cat launch. HB has said they're gonna add wheel chocks but I'm pretty sure I've seen my Hornet slide with chocks on anyway...
  16. Obligatory reference WRT the SHB: https://sofrep.com/fightersweep/the-ultimate-carrier-break/ "His signature maneuver was to approach the Boat at 600 knots and 600 feet. Not all that unusual in and of itself, but Nasty would bring his section of F-14s in 30 degrees inside the wake so that he would have more than 180 degrees to slow down. He would hit the intersection of ship and wake and snap, knife edge over the platform, both saluting and taunting the LSOs who stood slack-jawed with necks craned staring up at him. No plane ever looked more beautiful than the Tomcat in the break, wings pinned back to 68 degrees like a supersonic dart. Nasty would hit the abeam a little fast and wide, but nailing 600’. He would give the nose one more emphatic reef, slowing down enough to spread the wings and drop the gear. With 90 to go the flaps would be fully deployed and Nasty would be on profile, though still about 20 knots fast. He would roll into the groove a little high and fast, and work it down with such patience and precision that it was a joy to watch. After the inevitable 3-wire, I would turn to the writer with a big smirk and say what I always did, “High fast start, little high fast in the middle. OK pass.”
  17. Didn't seem to be sliding my last time on Aerobatics MP.

    TARPS pod

That would be enough for me.
  19. I usually fly without pilot body on most planes so not as high on my list, though understand those who want it.
  20. I think most times it's quite quick to drop under Mach 1 and I never noticed it as I usually don't fly that high or drop my tanks or hold afterburners for quite that long.
  21. Great! I know there's a big list to get to first, especially of high profile items. I use Voice Attack sometimes but think this could be a great way for at least the F-14 to handle it. Thanks! There are anecdotes both ways, including specific references that the RIO handled most comms. Probably a squadron SOP, if not pilot/RIO preference. Steve Petro Petroski indicates "the RIO has primary communications authority in the F-14." https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/what-its-fly-f-14-tomcat-just-one-engine-74266?page=0%2C1
  22. Would it be possible to tell Jester to do comms? (Contact ATC for landing, etc) so we could avoid the function menus?
  23. I just did a speed run on the Aerobatics MP server 2 days ago. Got to about Mach 2.2 at 40k feet after dropping tanks (was topping out to about 1.7). Was almost to bingo fuel so slowed down after that but could have probably went a bit more if I didn't mind ejecting. The stranger part was on my return trip back to the carrier, even when I put the throttles all the way back, all engine indicators RPM, FF, etc all stayed max until I dropped under mach 1. Is that normal or a bug or something? Then about half way to the carrier, DCS crashed to desktop. I usually keep chrome minimized in the background, but it had crashed, too and had to be restored, and noticed from my performance monitor that my RAM went past 32GB so presuming ran out of memory. Note, usually use about 20GB of RAM in MP in the Hornet. Hopefully there's room to optimize the RAM usage of the Tomcat some since 64GB is still kinda pricey...

    Awesome. Can't wait!
