F14 Manual Wing Sweep Lever (and Cover) hardware?
Uxi replied to TEMPEST.114's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
A servo motor on an Arduino has no small amount of appeal, though curious if DCS-BIOS would be compatible to get that in the right spot? -
Nice. I was hoping to hear the HGU-68 would be the option. Did F-14D pilots use the same helmets in the same periods?
-
Definitely appears fixed here. Do you have screenshots? What are you viewing it on?
-
Yes, this right here.

That's what I'm thinking. Sounds like security angle is as silly as the idea Iran would be able to use any of it on 50 year old A models. Might have to make an educated guess on a few items but how many MFD pages are still placeholders on other planes? Know from Hornet what most of those pages have to be by deduction and what should be the options for JDAM, etc Then duplicate the functions from VDI and HSD...

You'll always have the F-14A and the current B while those of us high speed, low drag types can hope to equally enjoy the F-14B(U) and F-14D.
-
I'm mostly good with the Roosevelts and Forrestals. I'll pay for Enterprise either by itself or the module that comes with it.
-
Everything was readable when Supercarrier came out. Roll to Stable if you're not already.
-
JDAM were added. AMRAAM would have been if LANTIRN hadn't repurposed the funding... FWIW, I haven't torn my wings off ever either. When I was new to the module, I went into spins more than once... especially on approach for land base landings... but not for some time. You learn to not muscle her over and to respect the shuddering. But yeah the DFCS of the F-14D would be nice... just sayin'.

Get a USB hub. Once I'm done with pilot button box gonna start on this.
-
Excellent. You rock.

We don't have a full 34 year spread of equipment. It's a pretty narrow window of years on the F-14B we have and the F-14A we will have. Then just pick one or two squadrons to get it right with adjustable numbers. The rest can be stuck static the way they are now.

The flap damage changes definitely screwed me up tonight. I was in the RIO seat and was mapping the flap lever on my Virpil throttle and went I went back to the pilot position, the flaps were down and I was going way too fast so the plane became very hard to control. Wings would not sweep with regular throttle control or emergency handle though I could still raise and lower the main flaps it appeared the inboard ones were stuck. Had the flaps warning light on and master caution, of course. I aborted from en route to WP2 back to home and almost made it... Was in the process of landing and slowing down but probably still too hot since I lost control when I was slowing down (airbrake on, throttle to idle).... but yawed off the runway. Only lost one wing but ejected anyway. :o

This definitely seems fixed though some time in the last few patches I'd say the left and right mouse button switched for which one does what. I know it's done it in the Instant Action Supercarrier Case 1 but want to say I saw it in Bailey's too. Did my mappings get changed by the patch or was it something from the patch?
-
The bigger issue is being able to change plane numbers without a whole different Livery... is that possible or just too many variations?
-
It appears to me that the controls switched. I used to right click to kneel but now it's left click. Anyone else see that?

Since ED fubar'ed the lighting a few patches ago, experiencing the same thing on the Tomcat, which I had mapped to my Virpil throttle (soon to be relocated to a custom button box rotary encoders. I have to use the mouse (which is precisely the opposite goal). Not sure if this is ED's fault or HB's attempt to fix it.
-
I had loads of fun with the Tomcat as it's simply the best module in DCS, even before the Supercarrier came out. Just like with the Hornet, the Supercarrier adds an exponent on the immersion factor, especially as ED put in the correct wing spread animation (and hopefully will replace the launch arm with the appropriate kneel gesture for the Tomcat one of the days). I am still hoping to see animated air and power carts, some of the red skittles carrying up a generic ammo cart up as you load, even if we don't need specific animations of the exact weaponry, though generics of the basic types (Sidewinder, Mk82 , etc) should be more than doable along with the grapes hooking up some fuel hoses.

Right. Specifically, it was the fruits of the NASA Dryden results to stop the spins and loss of control notorious in the F-14A (even after the P414 upgrade to the TF-30s). https://theaviationgeekclub.com/quick-look-nasa-f-14-tomcat-testbeds/

NASA Dryden Tomcat could be a fun variant.

Can't say I've seen it in the last 10 traps or so, including my first perfect _OK_ pass.
-
It even has a place for the black box which is neat. I am going to mount a button box to the Monstertech Mount I got for the VKB since I didn't like side stack and have the Gunfighter Pro little plate mounted to the VESA arm for a center stick.

F3 has been kicking my butt. It's about 50/50. But most of the rest seem to work. I went through the training a couple times.

Tomcat Ball, See you at 10, and Cat Relaunch worked fine as additions. Going to make some Kneeboard and then maybe a "Tomcat Inbound" as well. Hands off keyboard with Supercarrier is nice.
-
I just made a "Cat Relaunch" command I'm going to try out since the function key business is wacked on the arrival menu to need to go back to Main Menu (F11), then Ground Crew (F8) then Request Launch (F8). Wish the ATC menu request launch would be tied into it again... especially since the Request Launch is F7 for Hornet... A Supercarrier/ATC dedicated menu would be nice. Gotta see if See you at 10 is always the same.... I want to say it always is once you're in that menu in which case the local ATC thing picking the closest could work...
