Hadn't noticed this in awhile but hit me last night on Bankler's trainer. I usually land and launch at least 3 times but would not launch me for anything, so had to quit and practiced aerial refueling instead.
-
They don't have to be 512 x 512. I've been using high res ones. Perhaps should see if it's bloating my miz files or if it's just converting it?
-
Heh noticed my wingman ran out of fuel once about waypoint 2. I was watching him after I finished the mission and he raised and lowered his landing gear 4 or 5 times on the approach, though he did land. And he was taxing around all over the place and finished just before I landed lol.

That might have been me last night lol. Finally getting back in the Hornet regularly after a long run in the Tomcat and trying JDAM and JSOW (especially the Cat don't have em and no F-14D anytime soon).
-
You're not claiming an F-16 with full load and external tanks is pulling more than 4-5G are you?
-
Yeah would love to see more on this. Speaking of your projects, still gonna do YF-23 (my favorite plane ever with the F-14 a close second).
-
Nice. What scale or dimensions is it supposed to be? STL opens at 3.4mm in Cura. If I put it 1000x it still seems kinda small.
-
She's a beautiful bomb truck all right. That said, I've finally went back to flying the Hornet a bit and playing with JDAM and JSOW. Ah, F-14D where are you.
-
As an Abrams tank commander,, not ashamed to admit Bradleys had more tank kills in Desert Storm.
-
That would be epic.

You should try going against an F-15, SU-27 or SU-33. The Hornet is much slower than the Tomcat and doesn't have nearly the fuel endurance, though it should be able to out turn you in a circle fight.

Do you set those to toggle in the DCS binding? So it wouldn't matter if they were up or down?
-
Yeah you can. On my Virpil throttle I have the idle set to the buttons under the axis itself. I did 3d print SneakyBastd afterburner detents, which are great. The idle binds work great for startup but not as well for shutdown. On the Hornet, have one bind to start and another to shutdown while Tomcat only has one bind per engine. Additionally, tapping button won't lock it down have to right click

VKB MK IV T-Rudder New Owners and Veterans Q&A
Uxi replied to Weedwacker's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
I didn't want to lose any axis on my MCG Pro so just using a button on the throttle for the American brakes and the lever on the stick for the Russians. -
Right now kinda at a loss on mapping anything to my T2 and T3 toggles, so curious what others with Virpil throttles are using these for. For that matter, the protected T1 right now I'm using to arm the ejection seat by lifting the cover (input 9 IIRC) and then triple press of up (input 10) to eject. Thinking I might make an ejection cable for that, though which would free it up. Until then, though at a loss for the T2 and T3 toggles. Using T4, T5, and T6 for the autopilot functions on the Tomcat and using T4 for the flaps on the Hornet.

Grumman had ideas (more than plans) on FBW. Possibly ST-21 but maybe not until ASF-21 which was always iffy. Definitely not Quickstrike or F-14D.

I just did my first aerial refueling in the Tomcat in VR. I did use the queues making sure the left most engine pod of the tanker was center top in the central HUD piece of the canopy. My main issue has been throttle lag being so slightly off from my reactions, then overcorrections and then it's bobbing all over the place. This time, I made multiple contacts it pulled away. I tried again, contact again, oops lost it. Third try was the charm. Was able to throttle up but not too much stayed and stayed with it for quite awhile. Gauges didn't look at the very top, though. Speed up a bit came up a bit, etc but never got a notification so after a few minutes of this slowed down and let him disconnect. Jester said I almost had it, dived away and saved the track. Maybe the tenth try in the Tomcat and tried 4 or 5 in the Hornet (without success). This time rather than bomb mode, I set the wings to manual at 25 degrees (just a hair under where they were normally at that speed) and engaged the autopilot (all 3 switches), which I had done before but not with the wings at that angle. Of course, the replay doesn't work (known bug IIRC). At least it didn't crash on this one but seems to be unable to get off the Jester menu for contacting the tanker. Log entry now shows a successful refueling. This was my own mission and not the Instant Action mission, so will probably set the tankers freq as default and try it again with another track. Was too relieved to even think about screenshots, but next time for sure! Is there a bug where the tanker doesn't tell the Tomcat refueling is finished? Or was I not patient enough?

Yes, please.

So is TWS Auto still bound to the Phoenix or can it be released with the Phoenix as it is? Are there new targets for F-14A and Forrestal?
-
Is that the "Marking moms" thing in a different voice? Every now and then I still hear the original request and/or the response but usually it's the new ones. I wasn't sure if that came from an update or from the Voice Attack stuff I was playing with.
-
This is EXACTLY the tool I needed to help with my traps. I can get on the boat most times but Jester almost always complains it's a bolter and I know it's not pretty and this helps me know the many things I need to correct. Which is helping me learn to properly trim on the break and downwind especially. GREAT stuff. Kudos. Can you do one for aerial refueling??

Changing the flight suits and helmets is a manual process of copy and overwrite though isn't it? Hopefully that could get a couple pull down menus in the Mission Editor or rearming page.

So, have to buy CA to take helm of the Carrier?
Uxi replied to Sonoda Umi's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Steering the Battle Group (as the escorts should follow the carrier) shouldn't require CA, though it does increase the value of CA. They need to give CA much more love, though to add to the value as it's just not worth it right now. YMMV. -
Have to recompile every time the version is updated?
-
I probably won't get the Supercarrier if the Tomcat isn't supported. I have the Hornet but play the Tomcat much more and would use the Forrestal.
