Insane shaking in sustained turn.
Mr. Big.Biggs replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Spent today setting up the F14 for the first time. What a great bird! Whoever says this thing can’t climb is not paying attention. It screams both into the horizontal and vertical if you use some finesse! Great climb rate, great turn radius, just no computers, yank and its all over! Looking forward to delving into this! -
Spent the day configuring the F14 today and took her out for a spin. What a wonderful plane to fly! Not sure who said this thing couldn’t clime but its a rocket! Obviously if ya yank back the stick ala Maverick, your done, but take it just inside the edge of shake either in the vertical or horizontal and this thing pulls! Funny thing is I haven’t been able to get the Hornet back on deck yet but went 5 for 5 traps today. Im hooked already but do understand it’s primarily an air to air bird so will continue with the F18 as well. Thanks for all the assistance so far!

Excellent on both the advice and attachment. Thank you so much!

Way too new to jump into the editor. Would someone be willing to create or point me To an already created simple scenario for the f14-f18. Was thinking carrier off coast of airport with refuel plane doing lazy oval overhead. The idea would be being able To practice cat launches, approach and pattern to airport, airport landing , airport takeoff, approach pattern and land on carrier, repeat. Head up to refuel practice occasionally. Seems this would be a way to become proficient in the major disciplines of basic operations without bouncing between scenarios. Maybe it’s already there? Thanks tons!!

Good Morning all! In the settings section first tab there is a box setting the “resolution “. I assume this is monitor dependent? My question is that does changing this box have an effect on VR? In other words so I need to have that set at a particular resolution to ensure my Index is optimized? Thanks for entertaining my basic questions!!

Do you actually delete the file, or empty the contents? Want to be clear. Thanks!! -
Thanks for the input. I will bring up the Chucks guide!

Did your tension rods( things with the springs under the rubber caps work loose or strip? I changed them from standard to light right out of the box and noticed slop due to the “fragile “ nature of the threaded aluminum bit that they screwed into. Once I got them set, I red lock tighted (sp) them from below. Once they work loose or strip it becomes sloppy with a clunk. Just a thought.

Valve Index: 5 minutes, something is wrong!
Mr. Big.Biggs replied to pchRage's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks, funny how such similar equipment reacts so differently! How the hell did we ever make it to the moon? “Houston, the eagle has landed”. “Negative eagle, I show you at 5000ft, switch to manual” “Tried that Houston and I crash to desktop”. “Fido here, when we switch to manual in the simulator it dumps our urine...”. -
Flat spin and heading out to sea.
Mr. Big.Biggs replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I always found it interesting that they all came together at Top gun from Different squadrons yet when the crisis hits they not only all end up on Mavericks carrier but Ice is first off the boat. Apparently nobody but Maverick and Cougar could fly??? -
So now that I have my system sorted for the most part, I want to choose a primary plane. I want carrier capability and full fidelity as I want to get down to study level with at least one plane. Since my bird, the F4 isn’t a choice it seems as though the F18 and F14 are the choices. I find the f18 a tad video gamish so Am leaning towards the F14. Is it worth it without a human reo as I’m a lone wolf or is the ai jester too limiting. Trust me, I value the addition a good reo brings to the table but just don’t know anyone at this point to work as a team My plan is to eventually join a group or squadron. I just don’t want to spend a crap ton of time only to hit a wall with jester. I’m interested in your thoughts. Thanks

Not ever seen dcs thru a monitor, I’m happy. May not be a stone cold A to A guns killer due to resolution but plan on joining a group that flys missions where air to air is a small portion of the big picture. Love me the Reapers although the time zone thing may be an issue as Im an Eastern time zone US guy Of course I need to learn to fly first

Is this for vr or screen? Thanks

Valve Index: 5 minutes, something is wrong!
Mr. Big.Biggs replied to pchRage's topic in Virtual Reality
Question, I set my index up per standard instructions. Is it really beneficial to make this change? Does the default setup result in parallel instead of raw? Can you maybe explain a bit as to why this change might help. Finally, does this just come up as a natural branch of the file or does it require an editor of some sort to affect a change? My index looking ok but can always use a bump in performance and clarity. Currently at 60hz. 40fpm In pretty decent system. Thanks -
BUY 2080TI FOR VR OR NOT?!?
Mr. Big.Biggs replied to doclucio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Would be very interested in your settings. Thanks -
I await an answer as well. My Virpil base was way out of whack in their software. Freaked me out but didn’t (and still don’t) know how to adjust. It does seem to center fine in DCS fwiw but....
-
My limited opinion is that for IPD the manual adjustment on the Index Helped immensely with my setup and image quality. I had my optometrist send me my script and adjusted IPD and ordered lenses. So a plus for the Index (worth the premium ? Dunno) As for the whole 120mhz thing, probably great for some games but not DCS unless I’m missing the gravy boat!

BUY 2080TI FOR VR OR NOT?!?
Mr. Big.Biggs replied to doclucio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I get 40 stable at 60hz on my index fwiw. Pc listed below is no slouch however I may be configuring crap wrong. I have followed a ton of advice on these boards but that’s all she wrote... Not sure I got my money’s worth out of The index but I own it so it is what it is. -
BUY 2080TI FOR VR OR NOT?!?

I can give it a slight boost, like 100 and 200 on memory. After that I get random eye black out flashes and outright crashes. -
BUY 2080TI FOR VR OR NOT?!?
Mr. Big.Biggs replied to doclucio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Fwiw I have a 2080ti w The rest of the components as listed in my signature and a valve index. I’m on what I would consider low to medium settings and I manage 40 ish fps. Sounds to me like you got the better value if your really steady at 45 Your mileage may vary -
In would like to see someone create a Hud airspeed mod because I suffer with the actual dial indicator, but I know to some that is heresy so I’ll shut up.
-
Bravo !! I meant which you preferred...
-
Simple answer, because its not Flir, its a computer code simulating Flir. Flir uses a lens and a bolometer to create an image that is then computer rendered on a screen. This bolometer, depending on sensitivity can see temperature differences that are very minute and as every item on the planet has essentially an infinite variation in temperature over its surface, thats quite a feat. The program code could not possibly emulate the minute details of every centimeter of every object in our virtual world. Thus, you get a simulation which is what this is.
