  1. Ultimately we are all in the same vote as you, this is a "study" sim and does require alot of reading and references especially when learning the systems/avionics etc. Not sure if a powerpoint presentation will give you much more than the manual itself. I can understand the confusion regarding all the different hat switch functionality especially at first but you will get used to it.. Keep practicing, get a hands on experience with the systems and functions you are learning by trial and error in the cockpit.. All the fun of learning. All the best.;)
  2. It's is more specifically the "cannon trigger" you are looking for, try the trigger on your HOTAS
  3. Hey Sam, I don't think you will get any advance warning of the Beta 4 but it "shouldn't" be too far away. :noexpression: How do you know when you haven't tried? If your DL permits why not try now? :D
  4. Maybe this will help. From: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=941460&highlight=utf-8#post941460 I dare say A-10C uses the same but I'm not 100% sure.
  5. From memory the lua's are encoded with UTF-8 without BOM.
  6. Forgive my ignorance but labels? Come on.. Might as well play game mode.. Not trying to stir any pots here but i really don't understand why labels would be used in a DCS sim..
  7. I remember seeing an A-10 doco a while ago and it mentioned that the A-10 cannon is not able to be fired on turf by either pilot or maintenance crew ever (in normal circumstances).. Just imagine some dodgy, twitchy, trigger happy maintenance crew dude in the cockpit.. Opps, i accidentally flicked Master Arm  bugger! Oh I flicked GAU-8 Arm too :P Gee my finger is on the trigger... i better be careful ...:gun_smilie:
  8. Respect
  9. Good advice..
  10. Hey look i agree, I'm just saying not "every 'noob' question" needs to be treated with "RTFM".. ;)
  11. Fair enough, I know there are the few like this but the majority are very aware the manual is a source of knowledge and do use it... Some times there are people who don't comprehend the manual as u take for granted ( no dig intended, u know what i mean), so a bit of "tolerance" is appreciated by all.. Was joking.. but yer each to there own. Always do.. Cheers :smilewink:
  12. Oh please, do you work for the government? Distorting things.. - 29 % have read the WHOLE manual before first flight. - 7% hate reading manuals. - Therefore 93% actually read/refer the manual.
  13. Watched your trk.. You did well.. Your keep a good distance from the convoy at all times, well until the end.. :P Alot of people on the forums will swear by staying low to avoid any threats, which is understandable. The KA-50 doesn't have any RWR so the possibility a SAM has been launched on you without your knowledge is highly probable. What if there are many low altitude threats tho? I think it all comes down to having a basic understanding of the possible threats in the "play" area. If you know there are no high altitude threats then there is no reason not to execute your attack from altitude. Read some books by- Ed Macy, Robert Mason, Hugh Mills Jr, Randy Zahn.. You will see helo combat is not always a low altitude event. Regards to squads, u will probably be best joining a squad in your own country, for ping reasons.. Check out the squad thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34062
  14. Here's some info on the Black Shark, there's a couple of pages on the rotor head. You'll need WinDJview to open, ive included it in the zip. http://www.file-upload.net/download-2987262/21733-Ka-50-A.Mazepov-1997.zip.html Some good pic's here too, not many of the rotor head unfortunately but worth a look.. :)http://walkarounds.airforce.ru/avia/rus/kamov/ka-50/index.htm
  15. Slightly contradictory comment maybe... I don't think any1 knows these figures except ED and/or affiliations. If ED were simply in the entertainment market I don't think they would be here today but fortunately for us, ( the simmers) ED have military contracts to fulfill also which gives them another avenue (& guessing main source) of revenue.. With these contracts there is an abundance of information about the modeled aircraft which ED can then simulate and suck us simmers into purchasing their product (with permission of-course).. :D And yes I agree the sim genre not as small as people think, especially with products like DCS being produced, but still a relative minority.
  16. No that's the embedded link.. :P Here's the clickable link quoted.. :D
  17. I have this too.. I assumed it was because i used a mission made with Beta 2 but obviously not the case. -Vista 32 - Q9650 CPU - 4G DDR2 - Nvidia 9800GTX - No Multi Mon
  18. Nice.. Thx for mentioning.. When u say "air fresheners" I gather you mean the "air ducts" on the inside of the vehicle..
  19. I would say so ;)
  20. :D Ok.. Could "possibly" be a glitch in your usb port or cable. (like the connection uninterrupted for a split second or so)Try a different usb port, see if it happens again.
  21. 3 reasons. 1. You disengage the left aileron. 2. You disengage left elevator. 3. You switch to manual reversion which gives you limited control.
  22. Ah ha .. Thx nomdeplume.. So is there any way to still have 'symbology' inside the gun Piper? Edited: for grammer
  23. Relax.. ur sanity should be intact.. hehe "Should" lol On Top.. i can't see that u've done anything wrong (IMO)... GBU was in the air and well clear of you, for some reason ur wings dropped... lol
  24. Nice work Frederf...but i can see that it will be confusing for people with no experience... IMO u need to show where the hats are located not just what the switched do..
