Wow! I downloaded it, registered it and loaded a mission, just to have a look. I loaded the Ground Attack Mission ( where weather conditions are not exactly "Calm" ) and was quite surprised at the power of the Dora. She powered on through ( what I would class as ) a fairly sustained climb. Seeing as My Warthog was responding, I figured I might see if I could donate some bullets to the guys on the ground with it. Wow! It was not long at all before they were dispatched. This Aircraft will definately make you sweat a little more and be a lot more observant if you are in a P-51. :O

Dora: coming to an aerodrome near you!

It's the 5th in Australia already I've often found, at times like this, waiting patiently doesn't help me one little bit. :pilotfly: -
What is the Green Wireframe box I keep dropping
Spasticatedtoad replied to Spasticatedtoad's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
Hi everyone, thanks for the reply and sorry for reporting the same problem. I had a look around for similar threads, but did not find one. Knowing my luck, it was probably right in front of me. That's where I miss seeing most things. :) Glad to see it's not just me that see's it. :D -
Whilst trying to figure out how to Fire Rockets and Drop bombs from the F-86, I found that I had in fact dispensed a Green Wireframe Box that will appear on the ground below the point I hit the Weapon Release button. At this point, I was trying to discover for myself how to fire weapons and was trying different combo's of switches to see what happened. When I drop the box, I have LABS Turned on, weapons set up to fire a rocket ( or drop a bomb ) and when I hit the Release weapon button, all I get is a tone upon each press. I know this is not the correct routine for firing such weapons, but thought I should report what I see in case it turns out to be useful. Below is a few screenies to show the box I describe. If need be, I can produce a Track file to help figure it out.

I am Totally Lovin' the F-86F As the title says, I'm Lovin it. I really wasn't overwhelmed when I first heard the F-86 would be added to DCS, but I am happy to see any new aircraft. And, as per usual, I bought it thinking " You just never know. It could end up being a Module you really enjoy." And Boy was I right. Thankyou Belsimtek, Eagle Dynamics and everyone else involved. You always have a supporter in me :D Here's a video of My First Flight. And I have to add, that of all my first flights, I think this one is the most successful yet. EDIT: For reasons unknown, video will not play yet. I will continue to monitor it and try to get it working for you all ASAP. In case the Window does not respond, here is the link :-

Wow! Wow! And another Wow! Thankyou to everyone concerned for another great module for DCS. I installed the F-86F about 20 minutes ago and spent the last 10 minutes flying around and getting a feel for it. Beautiful. I can see me getting a lot of use out of this module as I am loving it so far. Looking forward to many more hours yet. Thankyou.

Independence Day Giveaway - Sabre and Hawk
Spasticatedtoad replied to Ells228's topic in Community News
Email sent. What a great opportunity. Thankyou. -
I too have often thought it would be cool for there to be, not only the Aircraft, but an environment that Aided the Use of such a craft a little more. I'd love to see something like the OH-58 Kiowa. :)

I wasn't sure at first, but after just signing in and checking, my memory proved to be correct. Attatched are images depicting what I saw and a .trk. file as well. It is very short, you may need to pause it for a good look around. Pic 01. Shows the Server List. I signed into the 3rd in the list. ( FREE FLIGHT TRAINING ). Pic 02+03. Shows what I found with the other Mi-8's in the area. Mine was the only Mi-8 with intact blades. client-20140616-141043.trk

I too have seen this online. Lately I have been flying on a server listed as a Free Flight Server, simply called MAP 02. Several times I have signed in and while taxiing, noticed the tips missing on the blades of a couple of Static Heli's. At the time, I thought it was either a static model misplacment or an amazing near miss. Since then, I had not noticed if it was still happening. I'll have a look in a few minutes and see if the problem is still there.

Just out of curiosity, are you using a Saitek X-52 ( not the Pro Version ) by any chance. I used to experience a similar problem with mine. For no reason ( that I was able to find ) the Ka-50 would suddenly lift its nose constantly and I would need to hold the stick more than 50% forward just to try and hold the Heli level. I used to have to exit the simulator and check the Calibration Tool for the Saitek. That's where I would find that it was off centre and would not calibrate back to the centre. The only way I was able to fix that, was to either unplug the Saitek and plug it back in. Or leave it plugged in and reboot the PC. I was told by Saitek Tech Support that rebooting the PC with the X-52 plugged in, re-calibrates the flight sticks and if ever that doesn't work, it would mean that the Hardware is faulty. I found that it only ever did that when flying the Ka-50. I used my Saitek for several other simulators as well, and never experienced that problem in any of them. Rebooting always seemed to solve the problem for me for some time after.

what joystick, HOTAS, do you use ?
Spasticatedtoad replied to m1tp2king's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Warthog + Saitek Combat Pro Pedals. Warthog is a definately Plus. Love my Pedals....but not like the Warthog. :D -
Over time, I have found that the Flight Stick you use can have a massive effect on your flying. I used to own a Logitek Extreme 3D Pro. I thought I was doing ok with that stick. But then I had an opportunity to buy a Saitek X52 ( not the Pro Version ) and my flying advanced quite a bit. That was back in BlackShark 1 before DCS World. 2 Weeks ago, my Saitek X-52 expired and I replaced it with a Thrustmaster Warthog and Saitek Combat Pro Flight Pedals. And once again, my ability to handle these aircraft took a Massive Leap forward. Waaaay more than I could have anticipated. Many moves I could not do with the Twist Grip Saitek, now come almost instinctively. I'm enjoying that very much. I used to find ( with the X-52 ) that flying was about 8/10th's wrestling and 2 parts luck. Now with some decent Flight Controls, I am finding the ratios have flipped. I hardly have to wrestle the Mi-8 any more and actually feel like I am guiding it. As it should be. :)

I wasn't expecting it to add up to $54. Thanks E.D. I'm just happy to pay full price for all the Modules I have so far. For what I get out of each one, it just seems a bargain. For that, I thank E.D and Partners. You had me at DCS. :)

I thought I enjoyed the Mustang since it was in Beta. But then last week I bought a TH Warthog + Saitek Combat Pro Pedals. Now I am absolutely lovin' it. Can't get enough and just want more and more. :D
-
I've only just this week purchased a TH Warthog and Saitek Combat Pro Pedals. While configuring the controls, I went to adjust the curves for the toe Brakes, but was not happy with the result ( the Graph looked too bizar to be right ). So I changed the function of the pedals from an Axis, to a Slider ( using the checkbox under "Axis Tune". Upon changing the function of the toe Brakes to be sliders instead of Axis, I noticed similar behavour from the pedals. After changing the Toe Brakes back to an axis, the problem disapeared immediately. I'm not sure if this is something that affects you or not, but felt it was worth a mention, in case somewhere along the line, that checkbox accidentally got selected in your control set-up, changing the way they operate. Hope you're able to get it sorted soon. I never realized just how amazing DCS is with a good set-up. To have mine playing up like that would drive me nuts. Good Luck. :)

DCS: Mi-8MTV2 game vids
Spasticatedtoad replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Thankyou so much for that help zaelu. As you can see, with your help, I fixed it. I had actually clicked that button when I originally posted, but probably did the Newb thing by posting the whole address in there. I almost got it right. Thanks for your help. I'll be able to remember that from now on . :) -
DCS: Mi-8MTV2 game vids
Spasticatedtoad replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Man Alive! Im soooo lovin the Mi-8 At the time I was not really looking to make a video to post, just try a new video making process. So some of the views are not as smooth as I would like. But in the end I think it came out looking pretty good considering how novice a Pilot I am. Thanks Belsimtek for this beauty. -
One thing I found quite useful for a sticky stick ( as others have suggested ) something to lubricate the plastic plate and metal spring is very helpful. I just thought I would add, I used Sewing Machine oil on my x-52 and have only had to apply it once in 6 months. It's a dry lubricant that is designed to statically stick to metal surfaces and not spread around or stick to Non-Metalic surfaces. It can be bought just about anywhere and is quite cheap. Also, it doesn't gum up with gunk or attract dust. :) I may not have offered much extra advise than you've already been offered, but I just thought I'd put it out there about the sewing machine oil, just in case it is helpful to someone. :)

Dead Stick Landing do help quite a bit. I didn't deliberately practice them in the beginning, I couldn't stop blowing up the Engine and was forced to practice them. The thing that confused me, was that I could land beautifully with the engine out in an emergency, but bounced all over the runway and often broke the gear when trying to land under power. So I watched some track files of me landing both in dead stick and powered landings. I found if I put the F2 Camera right in front of the plane looking back and watched me flare the plane in both cases. I found that in an emergency, I was flaring later than I was if there was a runway in front of me, and often I would be flying far slower because of no power. After watching a few of the track files, I was able to leave the flare till much later and also begin my final approach at a slower speed. Within a short while, I was then able to land, under power and on a runway, with few problems. Watching the track files gave me the chance to pause the Track in several spots and then cycle through the available cameras so I could compare my position to the runway in each. Often, I found that I was happy with my landing, but from the outside, it looks like I was thumping it down. Over time, I was able to smooth it out and frequently do a 3 point landing.

Money is all relative. To me, you sound like you have a lot more money than I do. When I started saving for my TrackIr Unit, it was just called TrackIr. Because it was the first edition. By the time I could finally afford it, I got TrackIr 5. I know what it is like to not have a lot of money. But even as you describe your cheap meal ( much cheaper than here and you get 2 beers as well ) , I can't help but wonder why the difference between those with no money, and those with a Rediculous amount of disposable income, is around $20. Some members are all up in arms and having heated discussions with others over $20?? Making demands to get a refund, just because they paid $20 more? Don't get me wrong, I am not flaming those people for what they feel. I just don't understand it. I used to be a massive XBOX fan until I found I was saving for 3 months to buy a $100 game and complete it in around 90 minutes. I have a cupboard full of them. Each immediately worth only $15 each if I sold them that week. Compared to that.....give me DCS at double the price any day. On my income, that's as good as throwing money away. DCS is always a great investment. Pays for itself before you even get it installed.

No Offense intended... I'm actually someone who is on a fixed income ( a disability support pension ) because I robbed one night and had my leg mangled. Personally, I think the DCS and Partnered products are cheap. I came from a Radio Control Simulator that I bought my first copy for $485 on Sale. :O Over the next 5 years I did my part and bought another copy each time they released it. After 5 years, it was still horrendous to use here and errored to desktop frequently with no explanation. After 5 years, I gained about 8 new models that needed to be edited, every time they released a patch because physics would go haywire. In my opinion, compared to Software companies like that ( and there's plenty of them out there ) Eagle Dynamics and Partnered Companies is a blessing that does not get enough recognition. I thank God for Eagle Dynamics almost every day. For the fact that you can buy a Simulated Aircraft to fly in a Free Simulator, with such an amazing amount of freedom for less than a meal for 1 person at a Take Away Resturant. Frankly, I don't understand how they can do it time and again without going broke. No other company would give you the base program for free AND a free Module to boot. But then I kick DCS WORLD into gear and within seconds, see exactly why they are so successful. The fact they can do it for the prices they do, shows they have nothing but the customer in mind the whole time. Otherwise, modules would be $200 each and have no further patching. I know which I rather. I'll buy modules at full price and I am happy to wave the discount on future purchases because I bought the Mi-8 before the sale. I can't get enough DCS and it just getting better every day. Sorry your experience hasn't been the same. :(

Its all good now. Hi Lizzard. Thanks for your advice. I followed both sets of advice you offered me and after I had done it all, there was still no difference. BUT..... a deeply buried memory was triggered to come to the surface, and I realized that maybe I had not set up the Coalitions. I remembered the Dialogue panel from Back in BlackShark 1, but had not used it since. I searched and searched for the Button to set it up but couldn't find it.....until I created a New Mission from scratch. Thats where I found that there must have been a problem with my DCS WORLD because I have created 4 new missions lately and never once did the Coalitions screen come up. After updating WORLD to each new Edition/Patch , I always Clean up my system, restart it and Run the 'Repair DCS WORLD' wizard to ensure there was no missing files. After upgrading to 1.2.6 , I did that and it seemed fine. But after following your advice to Rename my DCS Folder, the Repair Wizard took a very long time to check my install and then found an update for it. It applied the update and now I can see the "Coalitions" prompt when starting to Build a new Mission. Thankyou very much for your prompt reply, you have saved me a lot of hassle and headaches.

Dang! After posting this, I found I have placed it in the Wrong Sub-Forum. I should have paid closer attention as to where I was posting. I thought I was posting under the Mi-8 Sub-Forum. If Moderators deem this to be in the wrong place, please Move/Delete this post as you see fit. But I would really appreciate it if someone could advise me of what is going on before Deleting this Post. Thanks in Advance. Toad. Hmmmmm. When I went to film my latest youtube videos, featuring this model, I tried to change my Heli to Australian ( because I saw that Australia was added to the list of available countries ). But when I went looking, Australia was not even in the list of countries to pick from. I'm running then latest Version of 1.2.6 and as far as I am aware, Australia should be selectable. I know I can be pretty thick between the ears sometimes, but shouldn't Australia be showing up in the list of Countries, depicted in the images below? Also I have noticed that there are no listed Colourschemes for almost all countries. I'm not sure if this is the way things are right now while in Beta, or maybe I have a problem with my install that I am not aware of. I get no error's or CTD or BSD, and with each patch my FPS just keeps getting better and better, so I didn't really think anything could be amiss until I read this Thread and realized that I didn't dream that Australia was added. It really should be there.....somewhere...shouldn't it? P.S. I tried to upload the said images, but after the images have been processed and waiting for a reply from ED.site, I get an error stating :- "Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing. If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error. I clicked the link to report it to the Administrator, but the link just took me to a Web Page that stated the same thing. Anyway, this is the list of available countries I see that I can pick from when creating a misssion. USA Russia Abkhazia Belgium Canada Denmark France Georgia Germany Israel Italy Norway South Ossetia Spain The Netherlands Turkey UK Ukraine When I select my aircraft in the Mission editor, the Dialogue box appears so you can customize the details of the flight and Aircraft including if the Pilot is Controlled by A.I or Player. In this Menu, at the top, you can drop down a list of countries that you can switch to. This is where I got the list of countries ( shown above ) and I assumed Australia would be in this list. Have I totally mis-read what I am looking at? Or should Australia be listed in there, and seeing as it is not, that maybe I should clean install 1.2.6 ? Any advise you have to offer would be greatly appreciated.
