  1. hoo-wah.. Now that's where this thread belongs. On that game's forum.
  2. One item Jeff- look at that screenshot I posted. CH is a premium product without a premium price. Seriously.
  3. ruh roh.. bad storms on my doorstep- might be knocked off due to power outage..
  4. I'm curious- what do one of these typical shoot em ups cost? I have never owned a single one. Damn Wii games average about 50 bucks...
  5. omg.. no doubt about that... :puke::puke:
  6. Sorry Rob- that took me a few minutes to compile... My opinion is a set of CH gear, TM warthog, X65 in that order. I and others have MUCH more detailed posts and opinions on this board- this is a quickie. I am on Teamspeak now if you want to gab about it... If you have Teamspeak 3 installed- just click the teamspeak server info at the top of the forum... http://www.s77th.com/forums/
  7. meh.... depends.. It's all about value for the immersion and experience.. I started LOMAC with a MSPP2 sidewinder... Got a track ir 2 pro... oh man... Like being on a new planet. Not long after- I got the first of my 3.. count em 3 Saitek X45's..... I now have a full set of CH products and a track Ir 5. Love em. I consider them essential. One could blow off the pedals in a tight $ bind.. But this price below is a giveaway. Mine were $109 3 years ago from same website. See attached picture... The TM warthog is a perfect replica and more or less pre programmed for DCS A10. $450-$500 without pedals... Support ratings run the gamut from terrible to so-so. But damn. She looks nice. Feels nice too. I wouldn't mind one if I had the funds- now that an apparent update from TM seems to have fixed a littany of issues... http://www.provantage.com/guillemot-2960720~7GUIL01L.htm Saitek X52 pro is very reasonable starting point. http://www.provantage.com/saitek-ps34~7SAIG035.htm Quality is typical of huge corporation.. Pretty cheap & chinsy. Lots of people have them and use them. Some have no trouble for years. Bit of a toss up... I had 3 x45's I do not have first hand knowledge of this system- but the picture leads me to think that it's lacking in the HAT dept. Rotaries galore... not as useful if you ask me. maybe the X65 is a better call for Saitek... http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/x65f.html This thing just hits me as "better prepared" for a serious simmer. newegg-- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826102067&cm_re=saitek-_-26-102-067-_-Product
  8. Hell.. I'm unemployed (not by choice) and I think it's worth it..
  9. (edited) nevermind... He said it.. I dunno if this prehistoric screenshot of bands would be relevant to today's SST...
  10. I think you should save up a little longer..
  11. Even certain clothing will cause general caddywhompousness. If you own any athletic wear that has that C9 logo on it.. It's pretty much a match to the reflective tape..
  12. As it's been said but maybe not from an angle that a nugget can appreciate-- Get a Track IR. Now. It's not an exclusive toy for fanatics. It's absolutely critical to your ability to learn. Your mind will be free to take for granted a basic function that without a track ir- requires massive management and precious programming space on your stick. You will need a HOTAS flight stick that can accommodate the functions you keep hearing over and over again.. TRIM, TMS, DMS, CMS, COOLIE, CHINA, BOAT. I suppose one could take a shot at trying to train using a "memorize the keyboard command and where I put it on this damn 2 HAT/ 4 button stick" method... (slit wrists) But sooner or later you will step up to some real equipment that will boggle your mind having "made due" for a period of time. Why not boggle your mind now, while it's already boggled? What further damage could you possibly do right? :smartass:
  13. Yep. It looks frickin l33t too. The Fighterstick is actually about perfect for DCS A10 as it is right now- it's only missing a dual stage trigger. I would love to get my hands on that new throttle... Too bad it's not available in civvy clothes yet..
  14. If only that were the reality- when presented an environment to co-operate within the FC2 world- what usually happens? Thank you. At least in DCS there's a lot more investment of effort & time involved- thus the incentive to communicate, and fly towards the mission goals is greatly enhanced. As the DCS modules come in- this should only get better & better. This very next module- the fighter- adddresses the exact concerns- the splintering of the community. It's not years away either.
  15. Time will tell. I do see more inclination to join the TS channels, though. Which dovetails into a slightly different issue: I believe more people are on a TS channel- their own squad's channel. This only makes sense- I know I do it too. But maybe we should all consider adopting a guideline to always endeavor to use the server's TS channel.. like when it's just you or 2 of you out looking to fly somewhere- not doing a squadron event so to speak.. I know I'm guilty of flying on one server- and sitting on my own TS. I didn't want to miss one of my guys showing up. This would count as a good reason to enhance the current master server interface to at least display "who is where".
  16. Actually- you might try it. From what I can tell- the uninstall process is not removing some ancient driver dated November 2009. It wreaked various forms of havoc on my track ir- Including but not limited to roughly your symptoms. I'm in the TiR UI now- silky smooth and accurate. I knew that the latest doohickey was installed when I brought up the TiR UI and it's in windowed mode- Before- it always opened up in full screen.

  18. I've never installed tacview- but I "liked" the page anyway..
  19. I hear ya, man. If it were possible for ED to even seriously complicate the FC2 planes to even half the DCS standard- this would not be an easy statement for me to make. Community rules- true. But when I think over my thousands of hours of FC2 online-- there was no escaping some mildly irritating realities: Apparent fear of contracting an Venereal Disease for joining a server's TS channel.. This resulted in tons of other problems.. Like people refusing to cooperate- i.e. fighters cover bombers, and all that. This avalanched into "airquake" complaints... Lonewolf flying purely for stats to the point that he's deliberately hosing the efforts of the "team" Constant exploitation of poor modeling. (Not people hacking up files in notepad- Just taking advantage of deficiencies.) The shoot-n-run. No lock- nothing. Shoot a slammer at the TEWS symbol... Overbearing solutions to poor modeling- like the 15 second delay in jamming... wtf.. They just don't mix with DCS.. I would not have referred to LOMAC as arcade- until DCS came out. It's certainly no arcade game compared to many offferings. But it is compared to DCS..
  20. Boberro is a good friend, but I'm afraid I have to say- FC2= Let it be.
  21. Anyone have trouble getting restarted after a repair? (Complete shut down) Like the APU not spooling up properly?
  22. Separate pieces. Along these lines- when setting up CH in the Control Manager for the first time- It will ask you if you want to combine devices into 1- DO NOT. Leave them separate. This was meant to accommodate older games that could not account for multiple devices. Combining them will result in conflicts when trying to map your axis'.
  23. Yep- it's long- but easy enough to speed up and see what I mean. I took nothing but LGB's so at least it's narrowed down that much... AT first I thought I was forgetting to turn it off after a run. However- I'm told that it should deactivate itself... At any rate- I flew this loadout to test specifically. I was careful to turn it off. Several runs on this track. one sec.. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BzkMgHDjxmCXZDMxNWJmZGQtZDE1MC00ZGM2LTg2OTQtOGY3MGU1MmIzNjQy&hl=en&authkey=COborokP edited- forgot to set share settings in google docs...
  24. I am also seeing something that doesn't seem right. Nothing to do with hitting/ accuracy- the laser seems to be activating itself.. Latch ON/ auto lase OFF. By now- I have already POINT tracked a target, and sometimes I set it as SPI even before I can get turned back around and lined up.. This is the strange part- without me touching it- I have turned back around, and more often than not- it's lasing. So I literally turn OFF the laser (NWS button stops it) and proceed with an otherwise normal drop/ las @ 10 sec. etc...
