I Need Advice re: Installing DCS to SSD
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I also moved DCS to my SSD and edited the Registry etc etc. I also made sure ALL links and Icons directed to the appropriate locations. It all worked great until the latest update which screwed the whole setup. I have since UNINSTALLED DCS for Good. -
Unfortunately, the New Oil Rig are not models that can be placed in ME. We still have the old offshore rigs to place in ME. I don't know if this is something ED intends to create as a static object that we can use or not. I guess time will tell.

I have this same issue too. I don't think it's Module Related because I have seen this issue in the Huey, Gazelle and Mustang (so far). There are whitecaps which are animated. But the Rolling Waves themselves do not move. That is, there are standing waves and troughs but they appear fixed in position and only the "white" of the whitecaps moves.

It's definitely the model ... not the aircraft.

I Need Advice re: Installing DCS to SSD
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Okay thanks you guys. I will leave the Saved Games folders/files where they are and will only move (i.e. Cut and Paste) the Eagle Dynamics folder from Program Files to my new SSD. DCS will be the ONLY thing on my SSD. So "Eagle Dynamics" will be the Only Folder there. With regards to the Saved Games folder, I thought maybe it too had to be moved in order to increase performance but it sounds like that is not the case. And I'm glad. This simplifies the process allot. This is definitely going to happen before this day is done. Thanks again for the assistance folks. I can't wait to try this out and see it in action. -
Is there any more news about When there will be an update to repair/replace the Side Window Texture ? This Cracked or Wrinkled Mac-Tac look is terrible and all but impossible to look through when the sun is shining on the side windows. It is really annoying and cannot reflect reality (get it ? reflect ! ... sorry). I would be grateful if this issue were resolved SOON Please.

I Need Advice re: Installing DCS to SSD
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I would love to successfully utilize the copy/paste method but I'm a bit confused as to whether or not this will increase my performance. I'm confused because DCS is currently installed on my old C Drive which means it is in the Windows Registry on the C Drive as well as Program Files folder and Saved Games folder. Are you suggesting that I Copy/Paste JUST the DCS folders from Both Program Files AND Saved Games folder and paste BOTH into the SSD ? If so, do they each need to be in a New Program Files folder (or sub-folder) and New Saved Games folder ? OR Do I just copy Both DCS/Eagle Dynamics Folders directly to the SSD and make a new Desktop Icon (or redirect the current one) and that's it ? -
I Need Advice re: Installing DCS to SSD
SnowTiger posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I currently have DCS installed on my C:\ Drive (typical legacy HD). I understand that if DCS is running from an SSD it will reduce my Load Times and probably operate better overall. I just did the Upgrade to 2.5 on my C Drive (after many hours of downloading). During that upgrade, the installed did NOT import all my files (i.e. missions etc) from DCS 2 OpenAlpha but it did uninstall the Desktop Icon for it. I manually moved files from OpenAlpha to 2.5. Furthermore, it didn't even rename my desktop icon. However, it did change the look of it. I renamed it myself. Anyway, I'd like to get my DCS installation onto a new SSD but I need to know the correct procedure. The SSD will be a Slave Drive i.e. I am NOT reinstalling Windows. Do I need to re-run the DCS Installer to get DCS onto that new SSD ? Someone suggested copying files over but then the program is still installed in C:/Program Files and C:/Saved Games. But if doing a clean install, won't I have to first create a new/separate Program Files and Saved Games folder on that SSD and then somehow point the clean install to the SSD and those folders ? PS> While it may sound like I'm completely daft, I have been working on and building PC's since 1990. But I am not familiar with SSD's nor getting DCS onto it so that my Performance is actually Improved. Please - Any Advice will be helpful. Thanks in Advance. -
NICE ................ NOT !

Oil platform static object loads the old model
SnowTiger replied to kam's topic in Mission Editor Bugs
Does this mean we will NOT be getting that model to add to our missions as desired ? If not, that would be a real bummer. I would really like to be able to add a few of those in a specific area. I'm confident that others would like the ability to place those as desired too (if the posts in this thread are any indication !). For that matter, it would be great if we could add the new Huge Factory or Nuke Plant or whatever it was that was shown in one of Matt's F-18 Videos (I think it was an F-18 vid ?). It was shown close to shore just before he showed us the new offshore oil platform. -
Ya ... I don't know about the sustained turn method's accuracy, but I am satisfied with the previous answers that explain that Altitude, Temperature and relative humidity (although I'm not sure the latter is modeled in DCS ?) can and do affect the overall Speeds and Climb Rates. This makes total sense. In fact, while I was already aware of these facts, I neglected to consider them when I noted the difference between Caucus and Nevada. I won't forget it now.

Gazelle Weapons Expansion Mod
SnowTiger replied to Hook47's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I just happened across your video today and discovered you have a Hellfire Mod. I'd love to try that but it looks like I have come at a lousy time (of course it's not currently available !). I look forward to seeing and trying this Mod when it is again available. Good luck with the edit. I know it can be difficult and time consuming keeping anything custom working in DCS. Thanks. -
Except I still have one problem. I have created 2 Configurations. One for DCS 1.5 OB Saved Games and one for DCS 1.2 Saved Games. But now I also have mods that have to be loaded into the Main DCS 1.5 OB folder (C/Program Files/ etc .....> and OvGME keeps telling me I already have this configuration when I clearly do not. The attached screenshot shows the error I keep getting. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. The 2 configurations that I have created work without issue but I have Terrain Mods that need to go into the Main folder (described above) and I don't seem to be getting the drift about how to correctly go about this. The HELP files haven't really been helpful, whereas your information has been up until this point. Please Help.

Thank you for the detailed explanation with visual aids. That does help me enormously. Keep up the great work and have happy flights.

Problems with trim and overall stability in level flight
SnowTiger replied to Redglyph's topic in Bugs and Problems
I hear you friend. -
It's true that there is an approximate 600m average difference in altitude between Caucus and NTTR. I just never would expect such a drastic reduction in top speed from really little difference in altitude (approx 1800 feet) except in really extreme temperature differences. But I will definitely consider all of these factors and try some different settings out and see what I come up with. It sounds to me that there is a consensus that the difference I am experiencing is the same for everyone (not just me) and are accepted due to the above mentioned factors. So that's good enough for me. Thanks for the replies.

To be honest I did consider that when I noticed climbing was labored in NTTR. In Caucus it is 20 deg's and in NTTR "I think" it was 22 deg's. But I will take a closer look at that today for sure. I don't think the temp difference should be enough to make that much difference in level flight speed but it's worth me taking a closer look at it. Thanks. PS> With that said, I take it no one else is noticing my issue (unless there is a climate difference).

Problems with trim and overall stability in level flight
SnowTiger replied to Redglyph's topic in Bugs and Problems
I don't know why I didn't ask this earlier but I'm curious Which HOTAS are you using and on which version of DCS (i.e. Causus or NTTR) do you usually fly (where the problem is encountered) ? I hate to see you not be able to have some fun too. So I'm happy to do more research to see if we can't get you bobbin' 'n weavin' ! -
Problems with trim and overall stability in level flight
SnowTiger replied to Redglyph's topic in Bugs and Problems
@Redglyph and FragBum Have you guys found a solution for your Trim issues ? Do the issues (or Did the issues) exist in DCS 1.5 o.b. and DCS 2.2 o.a. either map ? I was so happy to get my problem resolved and back to "normal" ! My issue simply resolved by now using Mag Break panel switch which I never had to use before. -
I have recently been flying the Gazelle in NTTR as opposed to the Caucus'. {I don't know if the following is also a problem in France map - haven't checked} In Caucus map, I have no problem trimming for level flight, initiating Altitude Hold and then winding the Gazelle up to and sometimes over 210 (depending on loadout, fuel and wind direction) with Collective and Torque cranked to the threshold point just before the Torque Lights start flickering (i.e. 96-97% ?). But in NTTR the collective doesn't really have an effect on Speed while in Alt. Hold. The nose does drop as if to add speed (when pulling/increasing collective) but the speed barely hits 180-200, even at full power (at the torque threshold described above). Is it just me OR are others finding the same issue ? Is Polychop aware of this issue (assuming that it is not just me experiencing it) ? PS> I will report my findings on this topic when I've had a chance to check this out in the France map (and the patience to wait for DCS 2 and the single aircraft/no vehicle Mission to load).

This is HUGE. I wish I had seen this much sooner. I have been bugging a couple guys on Youtube about my radio issues and here is the answer all along. Thanks for this Thread.

Thanks again for the information. The .lua files corrected my issue. It was driving me crazy because I was sure that I was doing all the correct things (and I was) but couldn't get it to work ... i.e. CCIP. But now does work just peachy. Zeus67 > Thanks for the early fix. Sydy > Thanks for an accurate answer. fargo007 > Thanks for the warning (I didn't even look at DCS 2 because I didn't think the Harrier was in it yet).

Excellent. Thank you kindly. I'll give it a go.

Do the Missing Lines also include the CCIP HUD Symbology ? I can't for the life of me get the CCIP targeting lines to show up. I have lots of M-82's, they are selected, I'm in CIP mode and have tried hitting the Cage/Uncage repeatedly. Although the HUD does say it's in CCIP Mode, I have yet to see a targeting line. Furthermore, I have done everything I can see is being done in the following video as well "I HAVE READ THE MANUAL" for what it's worth at the moment. If the Missing Lines issue resolved in the top post is NOT my problem, can someone please explain why I haven't seen the CCIP Targeting symbology when it appears I have everything else set up properly ?
