  1. Actually, I just contacted Acronis to find which product I'd need. As it turns out, while the price is right, it won't work for me. I don't want to move everything (including the contents of the partition) to the SSD simply because there isn't enough room on the SSD to do that. So I'm back to having to do a Fresh Install of Windows on the SSD and re-installing everything. A giant pain in the A$$ !
  2. You should be able to find the documentation you are looking for in the DCS Main Folder. in Win 7 >> Start/All Programs/Eagle Dynamics/**Version of DCS**/Documentation Folder/ Manual.
  3. I'm going from (as you call it) a mechanical HD to SSD. The HDD is 1.81 TB (terabytes) of which there is still 1.26 TB left free. But the SSD is only 250 GB. That said, I'm sure I can move a bunch of crap from this drive to another drive (or partition). I "think" I can get what I need to fit on the SSD. However, I don't know if the Partition will prevent this from happening. I have already looked at other similar software to create an Image or Backup or whatever but it was almost $200 after taxes and foreign $$ exchange etc. @ Sully Pa Z>> Which version of Acronis would I need to do what needs to be done ? And will the partition be an issue ?
  4. I'm sure that when DCS World(s) 1 and 1.5 etc were originally created, the quality and resolution of Satellite Imagery was pretty minimal. The imagery available today for the caucus region may well still be pretty poor (i.e. 10 meters per pixel .. which is basically useless). Looking in Google Earth (for example) It is common to get 1m/px for many places and even .3m/px (where you can see kids playing with a soccer ball in a park for example) from satellite imagery. But there are still many areas where the imagery is meters per pixel at best i.e. a big blur !
  5. First let me make it clear that I have NOT used the dynamic weather in any missions but I am familiar with the option. From what I can tell, it helps to be familiar with Meteorological Symbology (the same symbology used by Meteorologists to create weather forecasts etc). Those symbols look "like" "F's" with several perpendicular lines. As well, understanding how Low Pressures and High Pressures (or pressure areas) interact with each other and different temperature and moisture ranges and variables etc. Weather Fronts, barometric pressures etc etc. It appears that with the above knowledge one can create a complex weather system (or systems) that will create changing climate in different areas. That's the best I can do to help at this point. I'm sure there are several people who have utilized this option for missions who will be able to help you out. But I suggest a wee bit of study in the areas mentioned above will be helpful. In the meantime, I have attached some examples of the symbology that I am referring to. I think you need to understand this type of thing in order to make the best use of dynamic weather systems in DCS.
  6. Thank you SkateZilla This is the information that I really needed. Especially about the 1060 and PCIe2/3. I had no idea about that. I was told that the Video Card would work, just maybe at 85% efficiency ... which is still an improvement over my previous card. I think I am definitely going to hold off on the Win10 Upgrade. Win7 is super stable. I might even consider reinstalling Win7 onto my new SSD just to help speed up my load times. But I'm not in any hurry to do anything that involves Re-Installing Software ... Unless I "have to" ! Thanks again everyone.
  7. My current system is Win 7 Pro 64 bit. It is installed on my C: Drive which is on a typical HDD. I would like to take advantage of the Upgrade while I still can BUT I don't want to overwrite on the same drive. Rather I prefer to install Win 10 on a new SSD that I have yet to install/use. Any idea if this can be done (before I start the process and learn otherwise). In other words, as long as the Win 10 Upgrade Installer recognizes my Win 7 License, will it give me an option as to which drive it formats and gets installed to ? Thanks in Advance for any help I can get. I realize these questions might be best sent to MS but I'm hoping someone who has done it can tell me.
  8. Interesting. What is your controller ? What buttons/dials/rotary/slider etc (on your controller) are you trying to set up ? The answer to those questions may well get you the help you need by someone who also uses the same equipment. Best of Luck
  9. If there is a Keyboard Command for the function, then you should be able to map it to your controller (hotas) but you may well have to do this using your controller's/hotas's profile software. Aircraft tuning dials etc that you want to affect using your controller may require that you set up Bands or something like that in your controller's software. You can't just map your controller to every function from directly within or solely within DCS's Profiler. But keep in mind that "some" hotas profile software may interfere with DCS's profiles.
  10. Okay thanks for those replies. In fact, before reading your replies, I went onto ED's website and noticed that they still use DX11 (which I have) so I'm in no hurry to update to Win10 (even though the last possibility of getting it for Free ends Dec 31/17 using the accessibility upgrade loophole .. which I do actually qualify for). But now what about my SSD. "IF" I install it, should I just put Win7 on it and reinstall or should I just save the SSD for a rainy day when everything else has failed ? I know DCS will load faster with it but I don't mind waiting 4 minutes to fly as long as everything else works well once I'm In-Game.
  11. I'm curious what you mean by "on a separate drive" ? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of using an SSD ? Doesn't DCS have to be installed/reinstalled onto the SSD to eliminate the bottle-necking etc ? I am also curious about using software such as Zinstall to transfer files and settings to eliminate the wiping of C Drive (or in this case to transfer files and software and settings etc to the SSD).? I also took note of the following information (no software like Zinstall required). http://www.intowindows.com/you-can-upgrade-to-windows-10-preview-without-losing-installed-programs/
  12. I'm currently in a dilemma over this issue (to 10 or not to 10 that is the question ?). I love Win 7. It has been the most stable version of Windows I have ever used. Furthermore, I cannot F'ing stand Win 10's crappy layout. It reminds me of Win 3.1 .. but worse. I find it extremely difficult and frustrating to navigate. However, I just purchased a GTX 1060 and discovered that DX12 requires Win10. Does DCS offer much in the way of DX12 effects ? That is, do they utilize DX12 now ? Another issue (maybe) is my Mobo is PCIe2 and the 1060 utilizes PCIe3 (I'm told I will still get 85% of the video card's capabilities). On top of all of this I just bought an SSD (today). I'd love to have faster loading DCS World and Missions, but I truly dislike Re-Installing everything. And if I have to re-install everything then I might as well move to Win10 UNLESS there are currently NO Advantages in DCS using Win10 (with or without DX12) in which case I'd just install Win7 64 on it. Any advice for me ?
  13. I guess another indication that the Vivianne does not actually lock onto a target is the fact that you can Steer the Missile during flight. This can be useful when a target is moving OR if for example a vehicle moves in front of your target (between you and your target), you can steer the missile up and over or around the front vehicle to hit the target vehicle. It's kind of fun steering a Hot3.
  14. I think the vivianne does lock onto a Stationary Target providing you are withing firing range. So even if not in Auto Hover, there can be a bit of manuevering without losing sight of the target. But then I forget because I haven't flown the "M" model for a few weeks. However, if I do remember correctly, even if you are NOT withing firing OR Laser Ranging range, the vivianne will maintain a Vector i.e. "X" number of degrees vertically and "X" number of degrees laterally even when moving, albeit NOT locked onto a target or specific geographic ground location. Of course, I have been wrong once before !
  15. Is that what it is ? I was just coming on here to post about the Glass Texture(s). I actually don't have any issues with the Windshield or Any of the other windows Except for the Side Windows which I can hardly see through to make out what I'm looking at. There is a really aggressive pattern on the glass like someone put some shitty old, textured Mac-Tac on the windows. The only thing missing is the Stained-Glass Textured Mac-Tac Finish. Heck, might as well make it the Brick Pattern ?
  16. Thanks BitMaster I can live with that. FPS is what I'm lacking. I know that I can get big improvements by going to a SSHD but that is yet another investment. I'm on a fixed low income (disability pension) so I have so spend wisely and try to get as much for as little as possible. A little bit at a time. So this is good news. I'm going to order this video card today (while the shipping is free !). Thanks again.
  17. Sorry Axelerator, I didn't see your post. To be honest, I don't even know a 4K experience is, but I can't justify paying $800-$1200 for a card that I can at best get half performance out of. Unless I can magically come up with a brand new complete system (with Mobo that has PCIe3), this won't happen. So I am trying to find a less expensive solution so that I can at least do SOMETHING in DCS World 2 which is much more than I can currently do. The WW2 map is currently useless to me. I get about 10 frames a minute (sarcastically speaking).
  18. I'm hoping this video card is going to help my Sim Experience. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=10080402&CatId=11972 The only thing is my Mobo is PCIe2 not PCIe3 so if I understand it correctly, I will only get 1/2 the performance out of this card (which is probably still better than my current card. My current specs are as follows: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Processor 4.01 GHz Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 16 GB RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti
  19. I just installed the most recent Update {1.5.7.10872} today. While flying the Huey, I noticed that I cannot get into the Left Door Gunner Position (using Keyboard #3) .. herein called "DG 3". Furthermore, while in the Right Door Gunner's Position, I start off behind the gun (and sights) but the more I tried to get into DG 3, the more out of whack my DG 4 position got fouled up ... to the point that I could no longer aim to save my life. It's like I was half way up the Pilots A$$. Not a great position to aim from ! I have no idea why DG 3 won't work. There simply seems to be no way to enter that gunner's position. BTW >> My Keyboard works just fine.
  20. Do you find this is the case with all aircraft mods or just one ? Are you using TiR ? With TiR I actually adjusted or cranked up the corresponding axis with a Curve to increase my head movement within the cockpit as well to as get max zoom looking outside.
  21. Thanks buddy. I did in fact locate that link as well as another for a newer version. With regards to Airport Lighting and Wartime vs Peace Time > I think the War argument is silly. While this is a Combat Sim, the beauty of it is that we can (in most cases) customize things in the ME. Furthermore, airports do have the ability to turn lights On/Off in many different situations. By the argument logic, the Runways should not be lit either then !! I don't see a problem with wanting an Option for War Time/Peace Time LIGHTING .. if that's what you want to call it (for all I care). Dim/Bright would work for me as I have personally found "some of" the airport lighting to be pretty dim, especially in the parking areas. This MOD appears to be just the thing to correct it.
  22. Is that mod in the User Files thingy ?
  23. DCS doesn't require any reason to model OR to not model any particular regions other than Economics and Necessity to achieve DCS's overall plan. They are providing multiple landscape and geographic maps. How much area does each need to be ? And does more area mean more options or just more of the same ? It doesn't matter what DCS's reasons are.
  24. I would agree with this statement, especially with regard to CA in DCS 2.anything. If Anything, I'm sure they'll try to deal with any problems and/or improvements to CA while still in 1.5 to help it merge into 2.whatever when the time comes. Of course, I have no idea so I am purely speculating. But I definitely agree, CA is a low priority, especially with regards to being able to Jump In and start driving everything around as a Ground Based Weapons Sim/Game.
  25. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that in the real world, the HMS covers only 1 eye. As such, it wouldn't be quite centered. I haven't flown the BlackShark in a couple years so I can't remember what it looks like.
